Skubal (7-2) worked seven shutout frames, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out six to pick up the win during Thursday's 4-1 win over the Orioles.

Skubal has been as dominant as a pitcher can be lately, and that continued Thursday night after seven more shutout innings. The Tigers ace has surrendered just one run over his last four starts, all lasting seven innings or more. The 28-year-old did walk a batter for the first time since May 20, but that doesn't detract from his 0.29 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 32 strikeouts over 30.2 frames in his past four outings. Skubal lines up for a favorable matchup versus the Pirates in his next start.

Ragans will get a second opinion on his shoulder injury next week, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

After landing on the injured list Wednesday, Ragans underwent initial imaging on his left shoulder that confirmed a strain. The Royals believe that he will avoid surgery for the time being, though manager Matt Quatraro admitted that nothing will be conclusive until further testing occurs. There is no timeline for Ragans' return, but he will almost certainly be sidelined for longer than the minimum 15 days.

Walter is slated to start Sunday's game against the Twins in Houston, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Walter will receive a second straight turn through Houston's six-man rotation while the Astros remain short on healthy arms with six starting pitchers currently residing on the injured list. Only one of those six injured pitchers (J.P. France) has resumed facing hitters at this point, so Walter could be in store for an extended run in the rotation. He's pitched well in both of his two starts with Houston this season, striking out five over five shutout innings May 20 at Tampa Bay and recording another five strikeouts over six innings of two-run ball this past Sunday in Cleveland. The 28-year-old southpaw has enjoyed a similar level of success at Triple-A Sugar Land, where he compiled a 2.08 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 49:7 K:BB in 47.2 innings prior to getting called up last week.

Corbin (4-5) earned the win Thursday over the Twins, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

After taking a loss despite throwing an eight-inning complete game in his last outing, Corbin had much better luck Thursday -- the Rangers jumped out to a 6-1 lead thanks to a five-run second inning, ultimately cruising to a 16-3 victory. The 35-year-old Corbin has yet to allow more than three runs in a start in what's been an impressive bounce-back campaign. His ERA sits at 3.66 with a 1.22 WHIP and 49:21 K:BB across 12 starts (66.1 innings). Corbin is currently slated to face the Royals at home in his next outing.

Ober (4-3) took the loss Thursday against the Rangers, allowing seven runs on six hits and six walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

It was a rough day for Ober, who gave up season highs in both walks and home runs (four) in a lopsided defeat. The long ball has hurt Ober of late -- he's now given up seven homers across 15.2 innings in his last three starts. His ERA is up to 4.40 with a 1.38 WHIP and 57:21 K:BB across 14 starts (73.2 innings) this season. Ober will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively lined up for next week in Cincinnati.

The Tigers transferred Jobe (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Jobe is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the rest of the season, so the Tigers will move him to the 60-day IL to clear a 40-man spot for Matt Gage, who was selected from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday. A timeline for Jobe's return will likely surface following his procedure, though he almost certainly won't be cleared to pitch until late 2026 at the earliest.

Boyle has a 1.17 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 54:16 K:BB in 46 innings across nine starts since he was optioned to Triple-A Durham on April 14.

The Rays haven't needed rotation reinforcements since Boyle was optioned, but he appears ready for another shot whenever an opportunity arises. Shane McClanahan (triceps) recently visited a nerve specialist and doesn't appear close to starting up a throwing program, while Ian Seymour recently made his big-league debut out of the bullpen, so Boyle is the clear sixth starter on the depth chart.

Kremer won't start Thursday's game against the Tigers but could work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Keegan Akin, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The Orioles haven't officially confirmed that Kremer is on track to pitch Thursday, but he was previously listed as the team's scheduled starter and hasn't been reported to be dealing with an injury, so the belief is that he'll enter the contest after Akin covers the first inning or two. Kremer has made all but one of his 108 career MLB appearances as a starter, but the Orioles may be looking to see if working in bulk relief helps enhance his performance. The right-hander is coming off a rough start Friday against the Athletics in which he gave up five earned runs on eight hits and one walk over 5.1 innings.

Stroman (knee) covered 3.1 innings and struck out four batters while allowing one earned run on one hit and two walks in his first rehab start Wednesday with Double-A Somerset.

Considering Stroman hadn't pitched in a game since April 11 after being shut down due to left knee inflammation, his performance in Wednesday's outing with Somerset was about as good as the Yankees could have expected following a lengthy layoff. The right-hander faced 13 batters in the start and pumped in 27 of his 46 pitches for strikes. The Yankees are letting Stroman build back up as a starter, but he'll likely need to continue to find success over his subsequent rehab outings in order to unseat Ryan Yarbrough in the rotation once he's activated from the 15-day injured list. Since stepping in as the Yankees' No. 5 starter May 3, Yarbrough owns a respectable 4.20 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 30 innings over his six starts.

Morris could be the top candidate to be called up if the Twins have another opening in the rotation, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.

Morris' numbers at Triple-A St. Paul aren't overly impressive (3.86 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 12.3 K-BB%), but the Twins lack a clear standout pitcher in the minors who would leapfrog the 23-year-old right-hander if a rotation spots open up. With recent injuries to Pablo Lopez (shoulder) and Zebby Matthews (shoulder), the Twins have already plugged David Festa and Simeon Woods Richardson into the rotation.
