Alex Cobb becomes third Rays starting pitcher to land on DL
The Rays announced Sunday starting pitcher Alex Cobb was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a left oblique strain. Pitcher Jeff Beliveau was recalled from Triple-A Durham to take his roster spot.
Cobb is the third Rays' pitcher to go on the disabled list, joining Matt Moore (elbow) and Jeremy Hellickson (elbow). Though, Cobb's injury appears to be less severe.
Erik Bedard, who was recalled Saturday to work in relief, will likely replace Cobb in the rotation, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Cobb has been sent back to Florida to undergo an MRI, but he said it was just "precautionary."
