Luis Castillo SP | SEA
Mariners' Luis Castillo: Short outing in ALCS
Castillo (1-1) allowed three earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out one across 2.1 innings to take the loss in Game 4 of the ALCS on Thursday.
Castillo got through two innings unscathed, but he allowed five of the first six hitters he faced in the third frame to reach base before being pulled. This was Castillo's first stumble of the postseason, as he had previously thrown six scoreless innings across two appearances in the ALDS. He has a less impressive 5:5 K:BB, but he has largely been a reliable arm for Seattle.

Max Scherzer SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Wins postseason debut
Scherzer (1-0) allowed two earned runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five across 5.2 innings to earn the win in Game 4 of the ALCS on Thursday against the Mariners.
Scherzer drew his first start of the postseason and took the mound in a game for the first time since Sept. 24. He understandably showed some rust, issuing two free passes in the first inning and giving up a leadoff homer in the second inning. He settled in from there, allowing only a pair of singles and walks across his final 3.2 frames of work. It's unclear when Scherzer will be called upon next, but he played a big part in the Blue Jays leveling the ALCS through four games.

Kevin Gausman SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Tapped for Game 5 start
Gausman will start against the Mariners in Game 5 of the ALCS on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Gausman was able to record 17 outs in Game 1 before allowing Seattle to score a run and ended up given up two runs over 5.2 innings. Now sporting a 2.38 ERA through 11.1 frames in the postseason, he'll potentially be tasked with ensuring the series returns to Toronto.

Bryan Woo SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryan Woo: Available in relief for Game 5
Woo will be available out of the bullpen Friday in Game 5 of the ALCS versus the Blue Jays, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.
Woo had been a candidate to start Game 5, but the Mariners will instead turn to Bryce Miller for their final home game of the series. The 25-year-old Woo has not appeared in a game since Sept. 19 due to right pectoral inflammation, but he's healthy now and will give Seattle some length in relief, if needed.

Bryce Miller SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryce Miller: Slated for Game 5 start
Miller will start Friday's Game 5 of the ALCS against the Blue Jays, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.
The Mariners will turn to Miller again after he tossed six innings of one-run ball on short rest in Game 1. He will be taking the ball on regular rest Friday and will have Bryan Woo available out of the bullpen behind him to provide length, if needed. The Blue Jays are expected to counter with Kevin Gausman as their Game 5 starter.

Gerrit Cole SP | NYY
Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Won't be ready for Opening Day
Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed Thursday that Cole (elbow) will not be ready for the start of the 2026 season, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Cole had Tommy John surgery with internal bracing in March, so the expectation has been that he will begin the 2026 season on the injured list. The hope is that his absence will be brief, but a clearer picture of his timeline will be available at a later date. Cole has begun throwing on flat ground but has yet to progress to mound work.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
Yankees' Carlos Rodon: To miss time after elbow surgery
Rodon underwent surgery Wednesday to remove loose bodies and shave down a bone spur in his left elbow, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Rodon will not be allowed to throw for eight weeks and the operation "probably delays him" to begin the 2026 season, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday. It sounds like the left-hander should be ready to make his season debut sometime in April, but a firmer timetable for Rodon's return will not be known for a while. The southpaw won a career-high 18 games during the 2025 regular season, finishing with a 3.09 ERA and 203:73 K:BB over 195.1 innings.

George Kirby SP | SEA
Mariners' George Kirby: Shelled during Game 3 loss
Kirby took the loss in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Blue Jays on Wednesday after allowing eight earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four batters over four-plus innings.
Kirby made it through the first two frames unscathed, but things quickly turned sour for the 27-year-old once he gave up a leadoff double to Ernie Clement in the third, followed by a game-tying two-run blast from Andres Gimenez. Kirby allowed three more runs to score before the end of the inning, and additional solo shots from George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero contributed to the right-hander's early exit from the game. Now sporting a 7.07 ERA through 14 innings in the postseason, Kirby would likely get the call to start Game 7 if the two sides take the series that far.

Shane Bieber SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Quality start in Game 3
Bieber picked up the win in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.
The right-hander's day got off to a shaky start, as he allowed a leadoff walk to Randy Arozarena before serving up a two-run homer to Julio Rodriguez to give Seattle a 2-0 lead with one out in the first inning. Bieber did a tremendous job settling in afterward, collecting the next 17 outs while surrendering just three additional hits, while a 13-run outburst from Toronto's offense gave the 30-year-old far more support than he needed to leave the ballpark with a win. Bieber is lined up to possibly retake the mound in Game 7, if the series makes it that far.

Shane Bieber SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Drawing start for Game 3
Bieber will start Wednesday's Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Mariners, Nick Camino of WKYC Channel 3 Cleveland reports.
Bieber was unable to provide the Blue Jays with much stability during his last outing in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees, surrendering three runs (two earned) over 2.2 innings of work. Toronto desperately needs Bieber to come through with a quality appearance in Seattle after dropping the first two games of the ALCS at home, though he'll likely be on a short leash considering the club can't afford to go down 3-0 in the series.
