Olson (finger) threw a bullpen session Saturday without issue, MLB.com reports.

Olson didn't throw his changeup during the session, as his inflamed right ring finger is still preventing him from using his full arsenal in workouts. That said, general manager Jeff Greenberg noted Sunday that he's "cautiously optimistic" that Olson will return from the injured list "sooner rather than later." Olson could be ready to mix in his changeup during his next throwing session, and if that goes well, he could advance to facing hitters in live batting practice.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson confirmed that Evans will be called up from Triple-A Tacoma to start Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks in Arizona, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.

Evans made the trip with the Mariners to Arizona due to what Wilson initially termed as a precautionary reason, but the rookie right-hander will end up being needed in the rotation as a replacement for Bryce Miller, who will go back on the injured list due to elbow inflammation, which previously shelved him in May. Though Miller could be in line for a lengthier stay on the IL this time around, Evans could be headed back to Tacoma after his start Tuesday. The Mariners are expected to get Logan Gilbert (elbow) back from the IL early next week, and Evans might find himself as the odd man out of the rotation if Seattle elects to keep Emerson Hancock in place as its fifth starter. Over his six starts with the Mariners earlier this season, Evans went 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB in 35 innings.

Miller is no longer scheduled to start Wednesday's game in Arizona and is expected to be placed on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.

Logan Evans will be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to start Tuesday and Bryan Woo will be pushed back to start Wednesday in place of Miller, who will head back to the IL with the same injury that kept him out for just under three weeks in May. Upon returning from the shelf May 31, Miller had struggled to regain form, as he had posted an 8.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 4:2 K:BB across nine innings between his two starts. Manager Dan Wilson noted that the cortisone shot Miller received for his elbow during his previous IL stint wasn't as helpful as the Mariners had hoped, so the right-hander could be in line for a more extended shutdown period this time around. Miller has also been dealing with a small bone spur in his right elbow, according to Booth.

Gipson-Long will pitch in bulk relief for the Tigers on Tuesday in Baltimore, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Brant Hurter will serve as the opening pitcher for the Tigers before turning the game over to Gipson-Long. While making his first appearance at the big-league level last Wednesday since Sept. 28, 2023 after completing recoveries from Tommy John and hip surgeries, Gipson-Long threw 70 pitches and gave up three earned runs over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against the White Sox. The right-hander should be capable of tossing 80-plus pitches Tuesday.

Berrios tossed 6.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Monday, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out one batter.

Berrios notched just five whiffs and one punchout, but he didn't need to miss bats to be effective. The right-hander recorded his fifth straight quality start, though he has just one victory during that stretch. Berrios has been particularly effective across his past three outings, giving up just one run over 18.2 frames while posting a 15:6 K:BB. He had an uneven beginning to the campaign, but Berrios has brought his ERA down to a solid 3.38 with a 1.25 WHIP through 82.2 innings on the season.

Bello allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out four batters over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Monday.

Bello got through three scoreless frames before giving up a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth. One of those runs was unearned, so even though the right-hander was charged with one more run in the seventh, he still was credited with his second straight quality start. Despite allowing a fair amount of traffic on the basepaths, Bello was relatively efficient in tossing 82 pitches (55 strikes), and he logged his second-longest start of the campaign with 6.1 frames. Bello holds a 3.96 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 37:25 K:BB through 52.1 innings this season, and he's lined up to make his next start at home against the rival Yankees.

Hancock allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Corbin Carroll sent Hancock's first pitch of the game out to left field, but the Seattle right-hander settled in fine after that. He's allowed five runs with a 13:8 K:BB over 16 innings across his last three starts, which have all been no-decisions. He isn't actively doing anything wrong, but he also isn't standing out all that much. Hancock has a 5.04 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 41:20 K:BB across 55.1 innings over 11 starts this season. Logan Gilbert (elbow) is set for a rehab start Tuesday, and if that goes well, he could be activated this weekend. That would likely spell the end of Hancock's current stint with the big club, though Bryce Miller has also struggled lately. The team hasn't tipped its hand as to who will get bumped out of the rotation when Gilbert returns.

Baz completed 5.1 innings against Boston on Monday, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five batters in a no-decision.

Baz was excellent through four innings, giving up zero runs and allowing just three baserunners. The right-hander was struck by a 111.2 mph comebacker off the bat of Roman Anthony in the bottom of the fourth however, and he then gave up a run in the fifth. Baz still entered the sixth frame in line for a victory, but he allowed the first two batters he faced in that inning to reach base (on a walk and a hit-by-pitch), and both came around to score after his departure. He's been mediocre but consistent in his past three outings, giving up exactly three runs while completing between 5.0 and 5.2 frames in each start. Baz's numbers on the campaign -- including a 4.97 ERA and 1.34 WHIP -- are also mediocre, though he's managed to compile a 5-3 record. He'll look to improve upon that mark in his next start, which lines up to be a tough road test against the Mets.

Springs (5-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and struck out eight without walking a batter over six innings, taking the loss Monday versus the Angels.

Springs worked behind an opener for the second outing in a row, and the results have been mixed at best. He's allowed eight runs (six earned) over 12.2 innings in that span, though he also has a 15:2 K:BB across those two bulk-relief appearances. He's gone winless in five straight outings and now has a 4.64 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 64:31 K:BB through 73.2 innings over 14 appearances (12 starts) this season. Springs is tentatively scheduled for a road outing versus the Royals in his next appearance, though it's not yet clear whether he'll operate as a starter or follow an opener once again.

Kikuchi (2-5) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out five over 7.1 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Monday.

Kikuchi retired the first 13 batters he faced. While he allowed both baserunners in the fifth inning, he was able to keep runs off the board in what was easily his best performance of the year. This is the first time he's completed seven innings all season, and it was his first quality start since May 12 versus the Padres since he had failed to finish six frames in each of his last four outings. Kikuchi had also walked at least four batters in those contests before showing better control Monday. He's at a 2.92 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 68:41 K:BB through 77 innings over 14 starts this season. Kikuchi is lined up for a road start in Baltimore this weekend.
