Ryan Sloan SP | SEA
Mariners' Ryan Sloan: Out after eye procedure
Sloan will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his eye Friday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Sloan's recovery is expected to take about 2-to-3 weeks, but it'll still be long enough to bring Sloan's campaign to an early end. The 19-year-old has pitched well out of the rotation for High-A Everett this season with a 3.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 77:15 K:BB over 70.2 frames in his first year of professional ball.

Tomoyuki Sugano SP | BAL
Orioles' Tomoyuki Sugano: X-rays negative
Interim manager Tony Mansolino said after Sunday's loss to the Dodgers that Sugano had X-rays on his right foot come back negative, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander was forced from Sunday's start after being struck in the foot by a comebacker, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. His availability for the next turn through the rotation will likely depend on how the foot bounces back over the next few days. Sugano's record fell to 10-8 after giving up four runs on seven hits with one strikeout and no walks across three innings versus Los Angeles.

Davis Martin SP | CHW
White Sox's Davis Martin: Fans three in no-decision
Martin allowed four runs (two earned) on two hits and three walks over 5.1 innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 6-4 win at Detroit. He struck out three.
The Chicago right-hander overcame a sloppy first inning that saw the Tigers plate three runs (two unearned) in this 97-pitch performance. Since rejoining the rotation July 22 from a forearm injury, Martin has pitched to a 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 39:25 K:BB across 46.2 frames. Through 127.1 total innings, the 28-year-old has produced a 4.03 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 92:44 K:BB while giving up 19 homers. Martin projects to make his next start at Cleveland next weekend.

Tigers' Charlie Morton: Struggles again Sunday
Morton did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the White Sox. He allowed three runs on four hits and three walks over three innings with two strikeouts.
The 41-year-old posted his shortest outing in a Tigers uniform, laboring across 72 pitches while turning in his fifth consecutive appearance with two or more walks issued. Over those five contests, Morton has been unreliable with a 6.08 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 25:17 K:BB in 23.2 frames. Overall, the Detroit right-hander now sports a 5.59 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 142:65 K:BB across 135.1 total innings while conceding 22 long balls. Morton will look to bounce back in his next matchup, which currently lines up to come at Miami next weekend.

Payton Tolle SP | BOS
Red Sox's Payton Tolle: Not starting, could pitch Wednesday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Tolle won't start Wednesday's game against the Athletics in Sacramento but could still factor into the team's pitching plan that day, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Because Tolle has typically been pitching on at least five days' rest this season and is coming off a poor showing Friday against the Diamondbacks in which he surrendered five earned runs over three innings, the rookie won't be asked to handle a traditional starting role when his turn in the rotation comes up Wednesday. The Red Sox could still use Tolle as a multi-inning reliever behind an opener Wednesday, but the 22-year-old lefty was still likely have his pitch count monitored carefully in that scenario.

Luis Castillo SP | SEA
Mariners' Luis Castillo: Bounces back in ninth win
Castillo (9-8) earned the win over Atlanta on Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks across six innings. He struck out six.
It was a much-needed outing for Castillo, who earned his first win since July 28 -- he'd struggled to a 10.06 ERA in his previous four starts (17 innings). Overall, Castillo's ERA sits at 3.85 on the year with a 1.27 WHIP and 144:44 K:BB through 29 starts (161.1 innings). Castillo will look to build on Saturday's effort his next time out, currently lined up for next week against the Angels.

Drew Rasmussen SP | TB
Rays' Drew Rasmussen: Sharp in no-decision
Rasmussen allowed three hits and three walks across five scoreless innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Guardians. He struck out two.
While the Rays ultimately came up short Sunday, it was an encouraging effort from Rasmussen after he allowed three home runs to the Mariners in his last outing. The 30-year-old Rasmussen's ERA is down to 2.64 on the year with a 0.98 WHIP and 117 strikeouts through 28 starts (139.2 innings). He's currently scheduled to face the Cubs on the road his next time out.

Parker Messick P | CLE
Guardians' Parker Messick: Rebounds for second win
Messick (2-0) earned the win Sunday over the Rays, allowing one run on eight hits across six innings. He struck out four.
Messick allowed at least one hit in every inning, though he was able to navigate through traffic, holding Tampa to a Carson Williams solo homer. Overall, it was an encouraging outing from Messick after he gave up three runs on nine hits in just 3.2 innings his last time out against the Red Sox. The rookie left-hander sports a 1.93 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB through his first four major-league starts (23.1 innings). Messick's currently lined up to face the White Sox at home in his next outing.

Tomoyuki Sugano SP | BAL
Orioles' Tomoyuki Sugano: Exits with foot injury
Sugano was removed from Sunday's start against the Dodgers due to right foot discomfort, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
The right-hander surrendered four earned runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- across his first three innings before being struck by a comebacker in the fourth inning, which ended his day. Sugano limped off the field after the incident and should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.

Mitch Farris RP | LAA
Angels' Mitch Farris: Making another start
Farris is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Athletics in Anaheim.
Unsurprisingly, Farris has earned another turn through the Angels rotation after picking up a win in his MLB debut Tuesday. Despite having never pitched above the Double-A level, Farris was composed in his road start against the Royals, limiting them to one earned run on three hits and two walks while recording three punchouts. The 24-year-old lefty should have a good chance at sticking around in the big-league rotation through the end of the season.
