Pepiot (10-10) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one hit and three walks over five scoreless innings in a 4-1 victory over the Nationals. He struck out six.

The Rays staked Pepiot to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and he never looked back, racking up 15 swinging strikes among his 93 pitches (53 total strikes). The right-hander has won four of his last five starts, lasting at least five innings in each and posting a 3.25 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 27:10 K:BB over 27.2 innings. Pepiot lines up to make his next outing at home next week against the Guardians.

Gausman didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Brewers, allowing one run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

The veteran righty rose to the challenge of facing the team with the best record in the league, firing 66 strikes among his 96 pitches in his 13th quality start of the season, but the Blue Jays couldn't give him much run support in a game that got decided in the ninth inning. Over eight outings since the All-Star break, Gausman has produced a 2.82 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 53:9 K:BB in 51 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Yankee Stadium.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Saturday that he's unsure if Tolle will start on four days' rest Wednesday versus Cleveland, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports

Tolle shined in his MLB debut Friday, allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and eight strikeouts over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against Pittsburgh. While the rookie southpaw should get another turn in the rotation, Healey notes that Tolle wasn't regularly pitching on four days of rest in the minors, so the Red Sox -- who will have an off day Thursday -- may opt to hold him back until next Friday's game in Arizona. That decision isn't set in stone yet, as Cora said the team is still thinking about who will start Wednesday.

Toronto recalled Lucas from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

Lucas got into six MLB games (five as a starter) earlier this season, posting a 6.66 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 23:12 K:BB over 24.1 innings. He pitched very well over his past three Triple-A outings, allowing just one run with a 16:6 K:BB over 14.2 frames, and will now get another chance with the big club. Lucas will likely work out of the bullpen this time around, though, as he's taking the roster spot of fellow lefty Justin Bruihl, who was optioned to Buffalo in a corresponding move.

Anderson allowed five hits and issued three walks while striking out one batter over five innings in a no-decision against Houston on Friday.

Anderson made his first start in seven days, as he got some extra time off during the week while on paternity leave. The additional rest appears to have served him well -- the veteran lefty kept the Astros off the scoreboard during his five frames after pitching to a poor 6.13 ERA across his previous eight outings. Anderson should be good to make his next start on his regular schedule, so he's slated to face the Royals on the road next week.

Houser came away with a no-decision in Friday's 4-1 win over the Nationals, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander tossed an inefficient 86 pitches (51 strikes) before getting lifted with Tampa Bay up 3-1, missing out on his eighth win of the season. Houser's performance so far in a Rays uniform hasn't matched what he accomplished earlier in the year with the White Sox, and through five starts for his new squad he's managed a 4.85 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB through 26 innings. He'll try to get on track in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Mariners.

Matthews (4-4) picked up the win Friday against the Padres, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out three.

It was Matthews' first start of at least six innings since July 25 against the Nationals, although he fanned a season-low three Friday. The 25-year-old right-hander has 70 strikeouts over 58.2 innings, but his rough 5.06 ERA and 1.48 WHIP make him a candidate to move out of the Minnesota rotation once Pablo Lopez (shoulder) comes off his rehab assignment. Matthews should get at least one more turn in the rotation, which lines up for a favorable home matchup against the last-place White Sox next week.

Lugo (8-7) took the loss Friday against the Tigers, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks in 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

Lugo's struggles during the second half of the season continued, as he's now given up at least four runs in five of his last nine starts. The veteran right-hander has also been unable to throw at least five innings on five occasions since the All-Star break, and he has a ghastly 7.51 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 37:24 K:BB over his last 44.1 frames during that period. Lugo has also issued multiple walks in all but one of his last nine outings, so he'll have plenty to clean up next week at home against the Angels.

Paddack took a no-decision Friday against the Royals, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks in 3.2 innings. He failed to record a strikeout.

Paddack was pulled after tossing just 58 pitches, his second-fewest total of the season, and it was his shortest outing since way back on March 31 against the White Sox. Although it was also the second time this year that the 29-year-old right-hander registered zero punchouts, he at least managed to settle down after Kansas City tagged him for three runs in the first frame. Paddack has an underwhelming 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 30 innings since joining the Tigers, and his streaming appeal will be limited with a tough matchup against the Mets on tap for next week.

Kremer (9-10) allowed seven runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out one over three innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Friday.

Kremer had a terrible first inning for the second outing in a row, as the Giants were able to get to him for four runs in the opening frame. He wasn't able to settle in, giving up two more runs in the second and another run in the third before his exit. Kremer showed promise with a pair of strong starts in mid-August, but he's allowed 14 runs (13 earned) in eight innings over his last two starts to wash out that progress. For the season, he has a 4.52 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 128:40 K:BB through 155.1 innings over 27 appearances (26 starts). Kremer is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Dodgers as the Orioles move to a six-man rotation with the return of Tyler Wells (elbow).
