Smith will be shut down for two weeks after being diagnosed with a left shoulder impingement, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Smith will require two weeks to get ramped back up following the shutdown period, so he's looking at four weeks away from games in a best-case scenario. The left-hander had seemed close to getting his first opportunity at the major-league level, but that will not happen anytime soon now. Smith has collected a 4.67 ERA and 77:36 K:BB over 52 innings covering 14 starts with Triple-A Charlotte in 2026.

Bennett is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Currently in the midst of his second stint with the Red Sox of the season, Bennett has reached five innings in each of his first three MLB starts, but he's delivered poor ratios (5.28 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 4.6 K-BB%). He'll get another chance Wednesday to stake his claim to a more permanent stay in the Boston rotation, taking on a Blue Jays squad that has struggled against left-handed pitching this season (.292 wOBA, 27th in MLB).

Aldegheri is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

He'll be making a second straight turn in the rotation spot that previously belonged to Jack Kochanowicz (elbow), who is slated to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in the near future. Aldegheri picked up his second win of the season in his previous start last Friday, working five innings and striking out four batters while yielding two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks. Over five appearances (two starts) for the Halos on the season, Aldegheri owns a 2.12 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB in 17 innings.

Lugo (concussion) has continued to take part in a throwing progression since being placed on the 7-day injured list Friday, MLB.com reports.

Though a CT scan came back clean after Lugo was forced out of his start last Wednesday against the Rangers when he was struck in the head by a line drive, the Royals deactivated him a couple days later after he developed a headache. Since he's not being shut down from throwing, Lugo seems to be making good progress in his recovery, but he'll still need to clear all phases of the concussion protocol before the Royals activate him. Lugo would appear to have a chance at being ready to make a start at some point during the Royals' upcoming three-game series with the Cardinals that runs from Thursday through Sunday.

The Royals optioned Spence to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old was called up to make a spot start Monday against the Nationals, and he'll return to Omaha after surrendering six runs across four innings. Spencer has given up six runs in both of his big-league appearances this season and has also struggled to a 6.54 ERA across 42.2 innings at Triple-A.

Tiedemann (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate Tuesday, MLB Pipeline reports.

It will be Tiedemann's first official game appearance in nearly two years, as he had Tommy John surgery in July 2024 and then had a setback with his elbow during spring training. The talented but injury-prone lefty has totaled just 140 innings in the minors since being drafted by Toronto in 2021. Tiedemann will eventually be assignment to Triple-A Buffalo following the conclusion of his rehab assignment, and he could help the Blue Jays out sometime after the All-Star break if all goes well.

Ginn (5-3) earned the win Monday, allowing an unearned run on six hits and two walks over six innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.

Ginn didn't generate many strikeouts, but he handled the Pirates' offense well, with their lone run against him coming unearned in the fourth inning on the heels of a Zack Gelof error. Monday marked a nice rebound effort for Ginn, who was tagged for five runs in his previous outing against the Brewers, though that start came at the infamously hitter-friendly Las Vegas Ballpark. It has been a stellar campaign for the right-hander by all accounts, as he'll take a 2.91 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 68:32 K:BB across 77.1 innings (16 appearances) into his next start, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Angels.

Martinez allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six batters over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Monday.

Martinez was hurt by a three-run homer off the bat of Kyle Tucker in the second inning, but those were the only runs the Dodgers managed to score while the righty starter was in the game. It was still a bit of a slog for Martinez, as he needed 96 pitches to get through 5.1 frames, but he also tied a season high with six punchouts and limited Los Angeles to five hits. Martinez held a 1.62 ERA over 11 starts through the end of May, but he's faded a bit in giving up 12 runs across 16.1 frames over his first three outings in June. Still, he's a steadfast part of Tampa Bay's rotation, with his 2.60 season ERA good for ninth-best among qualified hurlers in the majors.

Urena (4-5) took the loss against Arizona on Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out three batters over seven innings.

It was a bit of a mixed bag for Urena; he totaled just six whiffs and three punchouts while taking the loss, but he also completed seven frames for the first time as a big-leaguer and logged his sixth quality start. The right-hander got through those seven innings on an efficient 88 pitches, allowing his team's bullpen a breather one day after the Angels used five different relievers against Tampa Bay. Urena continues to dig his heels into a rotation role, as he's given up three or fewer earned runs in nine straight outings. Overall, the rookie has put together a strong 2.60 ERA along with a 1.35 WHIP and 58:35 K:BB over 62.1 innings spanning 13 appearances (11 starts).

Gore (4-6) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings against Minnesota. He struck out 10.

Gore struggled out of the gate, surrendering a three-run homer to Josh Bell in the first inning, but he was able to settle in and allow just one more run across the next six frames. The southpaw's 10 strikeouts marked a season high after he had previously topped out at nine punchouts on two occasions. Gore will carry a 4.27 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 86:35 K:BB across 78 innings (15 starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Sunday against San Diego.
