Gausman (3-3) picked up the win over the Tigers on Thursday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out 10 over six innings.

Gausman had his best stuff of the year Thursday, striking out a season-high 10 batters while not allowing a hit until the sixth inning when Javier Baez tagged him for a leadoff single. The right-hander induced 18 whiffs on the night and struck out at least two batters in three different innings. He's now won his last three decisions (spanning five starts) and has given up one run or fewer in five of his last seven outings.

Flaherty (1-4) allowed three runs on seven hits across 6.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Blue Jays. He walked one and struck out nine.

Home runs by Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Daulton Varsho accounted for all of the runs against Flaherty, but the righty otherwise was sharp once again. He's got a solid 3.84 ERA and has struck out 81 batters across 61 innings this year. The problem has been run support, as he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in three of his four losses so far. Despite the lack of wins, Flaherty looks like a promising fantasy asset, and he'll aim to keep rolling in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively set for next Thursday against Boston.

Estes allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking none over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Thursday.

Estes was much better Thursday than in his previous start, landing 73 of his 93 pitches for strikes. That efficiency gave him his longest outing of the season, though it was far from a strong showing. The Rockies got to him for two runs in each of the first and sixth innings, but the Athletics' comeback got him off the hook for the loss. Estes is at a 7.47 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB over 15.2 innings through three starts this season. He's projected to make his next turn on the road versus the Rays.

Manager Brandon Hyde said Thursday that Wells (elbow) plans to resume throwing this week in Sarasota, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

It will be the first time Wells has played catch since May 1, as he's been shut down the past few weeks after undergoing additional testing. The right-hander still has to go through a full throwing program and isn't likely to be back with the Orioles in the near future.

Heaney (0-6) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

Heaney held the Phillies scoreless until J.T. Realmuto's leadoff homer in the third inning before they'd tack on three more runs in the fourth. It was ultimately another tough outing for the left-hander, who's failed to make it out of the fourth inning in consecutive starts. Heaney's ERA sits at 4.69 with a 1.38 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB across 10 starts (48 innings) this season. He'll be looking for his first win in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against Arizona.

Castillo (4-6) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Castillo dealt with traffic for most of his outing, but he ultimately held New York to a pair of solo home runs. The loss snapped a stretch of seven straight quality starts for Castillo -- he'd posted a 2.01 ERA in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 3.31 this season with a 1.21 WHIP and 69:18 K:BB over 65.1 innings. Castillo's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Astros in his next start.

Gil (6-1) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight in 6.1 scoreless innings.

Gil continues to look like a star in the Yankees' rotation -- the 25-year-old right-hander now has five straight wins and quality starts, allowing just two runs over 30.2 innings in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 2.11 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:29 K:BB through 10 starts (55.1 innings). Gil will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week on the road against the Angels.

Alexander is in line to serve as a bulk reliever in Friday's game versus the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The left-hander carried a perfect game into the eighth inning of his last outing in Toronto as a traditional starter, but he's slated to follow opener Shawn Armstrong on Friday. Alexander holds a 5.06 ERA in six traditional starts and a 5.40 ERA in bulk relief this season.

Bido (finger) started Saturday for Triple-A Las Vegas in the club's 11-3 loss to El Paso, covering four innings and striking out three while allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks.

After being called up from Las Vegas on May 8, Bido started the second game of the Athletics' doubleheader with the Rangers that day but exited midway through the third inning after developing a blister on his pitching hand. He was returned to Las Vegas two days later, but he didn't start last week while he was given more time to heal up from the finger issue. Ostensibly healthy again, Bido should continue to make regular turns out of the Las Vegas rotation but will be near the top of the list for a call-up if the Athletics should require a spot starter again.

The Rays reinstated Baz (elbow/oblique) from the 15-day injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Durham.

Baz has been on the IL all season while completing the final stages of recovery from his July 2022 Tommy John surgery in addition to a pair of oblique injuries. The 24-year-old righty started four games at Triple-A during his rehab assignment, posting a 6.00 ERA and 1.92 WHIP while striking out eight batters and walking 11 through 12 innings. He'll remain with Durham despite being fully healthy, though Baz should get the chance to join the Tampa Bay rotation at some point this season if he can eventually show improvement at Triple-A.
