Abbott dropped to 0-1 in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Mets after allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Abbott allowed one run each in the first (unearned), third and fourth innings, which turned out to be too much for the Reds to overcome. It was not a bad start for the young lefty but also not the type of start that will force the Reds to stick with him. With Nick Lodolo's (calf) return from the injured list looming after making his final rehab start on Sunday, Abbott could be at risk of losing his rotation spot if manager David Bell elects to stick with a five-man starting staff.

Gore (1-0) picked up the win Sunday against the Phillies, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Gore has given up three or fewer runs in each of his first two starts of the new season and has carried over his strong strikeout production from 2023. However, he's been unable to make it through six innings in either appearance, being pulled midway through the sixth with his pitch count pushing toward 100. Gore also struggled with inefficiency last season, reaching the six-innings pitched mark in merely 10 of his 27 starts. Gore is set up to face the A's in Oakland for his next projected start.

Imanaga pitched four scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out three batters in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Dodgers. He did not factor into the decision.

Imanaga was off to a stellar start Sunday before the game went into a nearly three-hour rain delay, prematurely bringing his outing to a close. The left-hander has now opened the 2024 campaign and his Cubs career with 10 scoreless frames while recording 12 punchouts. Imanaga is tentatively set to return to the mound Saturday on the road versus Seattle.

Webb yielded two runs on 10 hits over seven innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out three in the win over San Diego.

Webb allowed just one run through five innings before the Giants added another run in the sixth. He's uncharacteristically coughed up 22 hits through 16.2 frames in three starts this season. Webb forced just three whiffs on 38 swings after getting four swinging strikes on 32 swings in his last appearance. The 27-year-old now owns a 4.86 ERA with a 13:4 K:BB through 16.2 innings. His next start is lined up to be in Tampa Bay.

Waldron did not factor in the decision Sunday after yielding one unearned run on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five during the loss to San Francisco.

After a brutal season debut, Waldron looked much better Sunday. He rolled through five shutout frames before the Giants pushed home an unearned run in the sixth. Despite the strong performance, Waldron forced just four swinging strikes on 85 pitches, with only two coming via the knuckleball. He's projected for a tough road matchup against the Dodgers next.

Manaea (1-0) allowed one run on three hits and two walks over five innings to earn the victory Sunday over the Reds. He struck out six.

The Mets staked Manaea to an early three-run lead prior to Manaea running into some trouble in the fourth, loading the bases with no outs in the inning. However, a sacrifice fly and a well-timed double play ended the inning, and Manaea then closed out his outing with a perfect fifth to put himself in position for his first win of the season. Manaea has looked great in his two starts with the Mets, surrendering just one run and eight total baserunners with 14 strikeouts over his first 11 innings. His next start is tentatively scheduled to take place next weekend during a three-game home series with the Royals.

Hudson (0-2) got the loss after he pitched six innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four batters in Sunday's 3-2 defeat to the Rays.

Hudson wasn't as sharp as he was in his season opener, allowing eight batters to reach base Sunday, but ultimately he was able to keep the damage limited. The Rays scratched across two runs in the second inning and then one more in the third frame and after that, Hudson tossed three shutout innings to finish his outing. The right-hander has now produced a 2.38 ERA with six punchouts over 11.1 innings in his first two starts of the 2024 campaign. His next outing is tentatively set to come Saturday on the road against the Blue Jays.

Miley (shoulder) covered three innings in his rehab start Friday for Triple-A Nashville, striking out three while allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks.

Though Miley tossed 55 pitches (30 strikes) in the rehab outing and isn't yet fully stretched out for a traditional starter's role, he's nonetheless expected to return from the 15-day injured list to make his next start for the Brewers, according to MLB.com. He tentatively lines up to take the hill Wednesday in Cincinnati as part of what's expected to be a six-man rotation while Milwaukee is in the midst of a stretch of 13 games in as many days.

Gonzales did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Orioles, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. He struck out four.

Gonzales allowed two runs to cross in the fourth inning but otherwise kept things clean, earning a quality start in his second start with the Pirates. He left with a one-run deficit, but a late comeback salvaged a win for the Bucs and took Gonzales off the hook for what would have been a tough-luck defeat. Gonzales, whom the Pirates traded for in the offseason from Seattle, needed just 77 pitches to complete six innings and has now allowed just three runs over 11 innings in his two outings with Pittsburgh.

Manager Dave Roberts said Buehler (elbow) checked out well after his rehab outing Saturday with Triple-A Oklahoma City and is scheduled for at least one more minor-league rehab start before being activated from the 15-day injured list, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The right-hander was effective in his second appearance for Oklahoma City, as he tallied six strikeouts and threw 65 pitches across 4.2 scoreless frames. Buehler will continue building up his pitch count in his next minor-league outing, and the Dodgers will then decide whether additional rehab starts are necessary.
