The Reds transferred Greene (hip) to the 60-day injured list Monday.

Greene was already expected to be out until Aug. 20, and his move to the 60-day IL won't have an impact on his return date. His spot on the 40-man roster will be filled by Sam Moll, who was acquired in a trade with Oakland on Monday.

Herz was traded from the Cubs to the Nationals on Monday along with Kevin Made in exchange for Jeimer Candelario, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Herz's value has taken a tumble since he got to Double-A last season, as his below-average command became a big issue. He is repeating Double-A this year, and he is still walking too many batters (14 percent), but his 3.97 ERA and 1.42 WHIP represent significant improvements on the 8.24 ERA and 1.80 WHIP he posted in 31.2 innings at Double-A in 2022. Herz projects best as a setup man or middle reliever, but the Nationals will likely keep trying to develop him as a starter.

Wacha (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Monday, MLB.com reports.

Wacha tossed a bullpen session last Tuesday and followed that with another Friday, throwing his full arsenal of pitches in the latter session. He'll progress to facing live hitters Monday, but his next step isn't certain. Wacha has made just one appearance for the Padres since June 19, allowing a run over five innings in a win over the Reds on July 1.

The Nationals placed Williams (personal) on the bereavement list Monday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Washington recalled reliever Hobie Harris from Triple-A Rochester to replace Williams on the 26-man active roster. Per MLB rules, players must spend at least three days on the bereavement list but no more than seven, so Williams could be activated by the time his next turn in the rotation comes up this weekend in Cincinnati.

Chirinos is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Angels at Truist Park, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

He'll go head-to-head with the Angels' Lucas Giolito as both pitchers make their second starts for their new teams. In his Atlanta debut this past Friday against the Brewers, Chirinos lasted just 3.2 innings while giving up four runs on six hits and one walk, but he induced 10 swinging strikes on 61 pitches, good for a season-best 16.4 percent rate.

Lauer struck out two batters and gave up no hits and one walk in a one-inning start Friday for the Brewers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

The one-inning outing was Lauer's first at any level since June 11, when he made his last start at Triple-A Nashville before being placed on the temporary inactive list due to an undisclosed health issue. Lauer may have used the time off to workshop his mechanics, after he had struggled to keep the ball in the yard over his nine outings with Milwaukee (13 home runs in 42.2 innings) prior to landing on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement. Lauer continued to struggle in his two rehab starts with Nashville before he was activated from the IL and optioned to the minors. The veteran southpaw may make a few more appearances in Arizona before eventually reporting back to Nashville.

Bido is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Tigers at PNC Park, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Bido made his most recent appearance out of the bullpen, serving as a primary pitcher and covering three scoreless innings behind opener Ryan Borucki in a July 22 win over the Angels. The Pirates were able to get by with a four-man rotation last week, but Bido will return to a starting role while Tuesday's series opener versus the Tigers kicks off a stretch of 16 games in as many days.

Smyly is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Reds at Wrigley Field, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Smyly was never removed from the rotation, but the Cubs elected to deploy him behind an opener in both of this last two turns after he had posted a 9.35 ERA and 2.02 WHIP in his preceding four starts. Though Smyly showed improved results in his most recent two outings working out of the bullpen (5.63 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 11:2 K:BB in eight innings), the Cubs will give the lefty another chance to prove himself in a traditional starting role. Multiple reports have suggested that the surging Cubs won't be dealing staff ace Marcus Stroman prior to Tuesday's trade deadline while they pursue a division title or wild-card spot, but it's unclear if the team will seek out potential upgrades to Smyly ahead of the deadline.

The Diamondbacks plan to call up Cecconi from Triple-A Reno this week to replace the injured Tommy Henry (elbow) in the rotation, John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Arizona Sports reports.

Arizona has yet to confirm that Cecconi will be promoted, but the 24-year-old right-hander is expected to be formally called up Wednesday to start or serve as a primary pitcher later that day in San Francisco. While pitching in the hitter-friendly confines of the Pacific Coast League, Cecconi has posted a 6.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 103 innings. Keeping the ball in the yard (2.01 HR/9) has been an issue for Cecconi, but he's done a decent job of making bats miss (23.1 K%) while also keeping his walks in check (6.4 BB%). Cecconi could have some longevity in the Arizona rotation if he comes through with a serviceable outing in his MLB debut.

Dodd (undisclosed) began a rehab assignment last Thursday with Atlanta's rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, striking out four over 3.1 perfect innings.

Dodd's appearance in the FCL was his first at any level since June 22. He landed on Triple-A Gwinnett's 7-day injured list shortly after that outing, but based on his performance Thursday, Dodd likely isn't far away from rejoining Gwinnett's rotation. Dodd previously made five starts with Atlanta earlier in the season, but even once healthy, the lefty could find himself behind all of AJ Smith-Shawver, Michael Soroka, Allan Winans and Jared Shuster for a promotion if the big club requires another starter at any point.
