Cueto is listed as the Marlins' probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Tigers at LoanDepot Park.

Rather than bringing back standout rookie Eury Perez from the minors to step back in as their fifth starter, the Marlins will turn to Cueto make a second straight turn through the rotation. Though he was hit hard in his first start of the season with the Marlins on April 3 and then continued to struggle during an extended minor-league rehab assignment, Cueto has been surprisingly effective since being activated from the 60-day injured list July 10. After tossing three scoreless innings in relief July 16 in Baltimore, Cueto picked up a start last Saturday against the Rockies and struck out eight over six innings of one-run ball.

Morton (10-8) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on six hits and five walks over 3.2 innings as Atlanta fell 7-1 to the Red Sox. He struck out only one.

Rain delayed the start of the game by over an hour and a half, and Morton was clearly out of sync when he finally got on the mound, tossing only 47 of 80 pitches and issuing a season-high five free passes before getting the hook. The 39-year-old right-hander's 1.42 WHIP on the year is his worst mark since his days with the Pirates over a decade ago, but Morton has been able to maintain a respectable 3.57 ERA thanks to a 47.1 percent GB% and 10.2 percent HR/FB%. He'll try to rebound in his next outing, which is likely to come at home early next week against the Angels.

Williams didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Rockies, giving up four runs on nine hits over six innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The first pitch was delayed by nearly 90 minutes due to rain, and that may have disrupted Williams' focus as he gave up a pair of runs in the second and third innings before settling in. After a second rain delay, the Nationals were able to steal a win with a late rally and take him off the hook for his sixth loss of the year. The right-hander hasn't produced a quality start since June 21, stumbling to a 5.34 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB through 28.2 innings over his last six outings. Williams will try to bounce back in his next start, which is likely to come on the road this weekend against the Mets.

Cabrera (5-6) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over two innings against the Rays.

After Cabrera pitched a clean opening frame, the Rays rallied to put up three runs with two outs in the second inning, forcing Cabrera out of the game after throwing 53 pitches. The Marlins have understandably been cautious with Cabrera after he missed over a month with a shoulder injury. He's allowed four runs over seven innings in two starts since returning to the rotation. Overall, Cabrera sports a 4.74 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP and 90:46 K:BB through 16 starts (74 innings) this season. His next outing is currently lined up for next week against Philadelphia.

Gomber allowed one unearned run on six hits and no walks while striking out four across six innings Tuesday against the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.

Gomber executed well in the outing despite the fact the start of the game was delayed nearly 90 minutes due to rain. He started 17 of the 22 batters he faced with a strike while also inducing eight groundball outs. He's now allowed two earned runs or fewer in five of his last six outings, a span during which he's maintained a 3.00 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. He has only 22 strikeouts across 36 innings in that time, but he has also issued only two walks and limited opponents to three home runs.

Verlander (5-5) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing two hits and four walks over six scoreless innings in a 9-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out six.

The veteran righty avoided trouble despite throwing just 63 of 98 pitches for strikes, and a pair of Pete Alonso homers gave Verlander all the run support he would need. The quality start was his fourth in five July outings, and on the month he boasts a 1.69 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 27:15 K:BB over 32 innings. Verlander will look to keep rolling in his next start, likely to come at home this weekend against the Nationals -- unless the Mets hold a fire sale before then and trade him.

Greene (hip) threw a side session Tuesday as part of a core stability program, MLB.com reports.

Cincinnati manager David Bell said Greene has one more level to achieve in the program. Once the right-hander finishes that, Greene will throw a live batting practice session then head out on a rehab assignment. "It could all happen really fast," Bell said. "Any day, it's going to happen." Greene will continue with the program at the team's complex in Goodyear (Ariz.) before a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville or High-A Dayton.

Walker did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings against the Orioles. He struck out four.

It certainly could've been worse for Walker on Tuesday -- he held the Orioles to just two runs despite needing 104 pitches to make it through 5.2 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander has pitched to a 4.56 ERA over his last four outings after posting a pristine 0.84 mark in the previous five starts. Overall, Walker is 11-4 with a 4.06 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 98:46 K:BB through 21 starts (113 innings) this season. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next outing.

Urias allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Urias responded to last week's poor outing versus the Orioles with a partial bounce-back against another AL East opponent. While it was far from his sharpest work, Urias was able to earn his third quality start in five outings in July. The southpaw is now at a 4.98 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 77:19 K:BB over 81.1 innings through 15 starts. He's projected for a favorable home start versus the Athletics early next week.

Hill (7-10) took the loss Tuesday in San Diego after he allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks across 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

The left-hander gave up fewer than three runs for the first time since June 9, but he was unable to make it through the fifth inning versus the Friars. Hill has a 1-5 record in his past eight starts with a 5.83 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 30:21 K:BB over 41.2 innings during that span. The 43-year-old tentatively lines up to face the Tigers next week, which could put him on the streaming radar despite the recent struggles.
