Greene (lower leg) and the Reds agreed Tuesday to a six-year, $53 million contract extension with a seventh-year club option, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports.

The new deal kicks in this season and will buy out what would have been Greene's first two years of free agency. The option for 2029 is worth $21 million and carries a $2 million buyout. Greene, 23, is one of the hardest-throwing starting pitchers in baseball history and boasts 188 strikeouts through his first 142.2 major-league innings. Granted, he's also issued 54 walks in that span and holds a career 4.42 ERA. With a little improvement in his overall command and secondary offerings, the right-hander could emerge as a full-on superstar in Cincinnati.

Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that Overton (elbow) could resume throwing in 7-to-10 days, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Overton was placed on the injured list Saturday after being diagnosed with a right elbow strain, but it seems to be relatively minor and he could be an option again for the Reds in May. Levi Stoudt will start in Overton's place Wednesday versus the Rays, with Luke Weaver (forearm) then returning Thursday against the Pirates.

Sanchez (triceps) covered 4.2 innings in his second rehab appearance for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday, striking out five while allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks.

Though he opened the season on the 15-day injured list with a left triceps strain, Sanchez may have faced an uphill battle to win a spot on the Phillies' pitching staff even if he had closed camp at full health. However, after having looked sharp in both of his two rehab outings and building up to 75 pitches in Sunday's start, Sanchez could now find himself in the mix for a rotation spot with the big club with Ranger Suarez (forearm) still on the shelf and Matt Strahm day-to-day with a thumb injury. At the very least, the Phillies will have a need for a sixth starter this week due to Tuesday's doubleheader, so Sanchez could be a candidate to return from the IL to pitch Friday or Saturday versus the Rockies in Philadelphia.

Seabold was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Seabold had surrendered six earned runs on 13 hits and three walks through 10.1 innings of relief this season with Colorado. Peter Lambert is getting the call from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that Greene (leg) will have his next start pushed back a day, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

In fact, all members of the Reds' starting rotation will get an additional day of rest on the next turn through. Levi Stoudt is set to make his MLB debut in a spot start Wednesday versus the Rays and Luke Weaver (forearm) will be activated from the IL to pitch Thursday against the Pirates, allowing for the schedule maneuvering. Greene took a comebacker off his right tibia Monday but X-rays turned up negative for any structural damage. He still has a good chance to pitch this weekend.

The Reds will call up Stoudt from Triple-A Louisville to start Wednesday's game versus the Rays.

Luke Weaver (forearm) had been expected to come off the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday, but he's apparently not ready to do so. As a result, Stoudt, who holds a career minor-league ERA of 4.11 and has issued nine walks in 11 innings (three starts) this season at Triple-A, will be called upon for what will likely be a spot start. He's an unappealing fantasy streaming option for Wednesday's emergency assignment versus one of baseball's top teams.

Suarez (forearm) is set to throw live batting practice Tuesday in Chicago, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Suarez is currently traveling with the Phillies and is expected to complete two live BP sessions (or simulated games) before embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 27-year-old left-hander is probably steering toward a 2023 debut in early May as he builds up his pitch count. He's been on the IL all month after developing forearm inflammation around the third week of spring training.

Kelly (1-2) earned the win Monday, allowing one run on five hits and zero walks over six innings during a 6-3 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out three.

Kelly posted five scoreless frames to start the game before serving up an RBI double to Willson Contreras in the bottom of the six, which tied the game at 1-1. However, following a mound visit, the right-hander struck out Nolan Arenado to end the inning and was in line for the win after Arizona reclaimed the lead with five runs in the top of the seventh. Through four starts (21.1 innings), Kelly has a 2.53 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP with a 18:12 K:BB.

Flaherty (1-2) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over six innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out four.

Flaherty allowed a leadoff double to Josh Rojas and an RBI single to Ketel Marte to start the game, but he escaped the frame with back-to-back groundouts, including a double play. The right-hander proceeded to toss five solid frames before getting pulled after allowing the first three hitters in the seventh to reach, including via a leadoff homer by Marte. Cardinals reliever Andre Pallante couldn't stop the momentum and served up a grand slam to Pavin Smith, adding two more runs to Flaherty's line. Overall, it was mixed results for Flaherty, who posted season highs in innings and runs allowed. Through four starts (21.1 innings), he has a 2.95 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP with as many strikeouts (17) as walks.

Luzardo did not factor into the decision Monday against the Giants, allowing three runs on six hits with two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.

Luzardo failed to last at least five innings for the first time this season. Despite this setback, the 25-year-old continues to impress by generating a significant number of swings and misses, adding six more strikeouts in this outing. With a 2-0 record, 2.74 ERA and 26:8 K:BB over 23 innings, Luzardo's body of work thus far has been rewarding for fantasy managers who invested some capital in him. He will look to bounce back in his next start, tentatively scheduled for the upcoming series with Cleveland.
