Falter is expected to throw only one inning in his start Wednesday in Houston, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

The Phillies won't have room in the rotation for Falter during the wild-card round, so he'll be making a start Wednesday that simulates what a relief appearance would look like for him in the postseason. Philadelphia called up Michael Plassmeyer from Triple-A Lehigh Valley earlier in the day and could turn to him in bulk relief behind Falter.

Williams is listed as the Mets' starting pitcher Wednesday against the Nationals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Ace Jacob deGrom (finger) would have been in line to start the regular-season finale if the National League East title was at stake, but Atlanta officially clinched the division crown with a win Tuesday over the Marlins. As a result, the Mets will save deGrom for Game 1 of their wild-card round series with the Padres on Friday and instead have Williams eat innings in what will essentially be a bullpen day Wednesday. Williams hasn't made a relief appearance since Sept. 27 and should be capable of providing the Mets with a decent amount of length.

The Cardinals recalled Liberatore from Triple-A Memphis and will have him start Wednesday's regular-season finale in Pittsburgh, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

With their wild-card round series with the Phillies set to begin Friday, the Cardinals are likely to steer away from most of their key arms Wednesday to ensure optimal health in advance of the postseason. As a result, Liberatore will slot back into the rotation for what will be his ninth appearance and seventh start in the big leagues. Over 29.2 innings with the Cardinals, Liberatore has gone 2-1 with a 5.46 ERA and 1.69 WHIP.

Walker didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, allowing four hits over 4.1 scoreless innings. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.

The veteran righty was dominant in his final outing of the regular season, and Walker only failed to rack up his 13th win of the year because the Mets wanted to give him a bit of extra rest ahead of the playoffs. It's the second time in his last five starts he's fanned double-digit batters, and he'll head into the postseason having posted a 3.03 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 36:5 K:BB through 29.2 innings over that stretch.

Carrasco didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out three.

With the playoffs looming and the Mets having squandered their chance to win the NL East, Carrasco got an early hook to give him some extra rest. The veteran righty tossed 73 pitches (51 strikes) and left with New York ahead 4-2, missing his chance to collect his 16th win of the season. He'll wrap up a bounceback campaign with a 3.97 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 152:41 K:BB through 152 innings.

Gomber is listed as the Rockies' starting pitcher in Wednesday's season finale against the Dodgers.

Gomber opened the season as a member of Colorado's rotation, but he was moved to the bullpen following the All-Star break and has thus far been serving as a reliever during the second half. He'll get the chance to finish the season as a starter while the Rockies are short on available arms, but Gomber likely won't be counted on to provide much length. He hasn't recorded more than 10 outs in any of his relief outings over the past month.

Heaney (4-4) took the loss during Tuesday's 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Rockies, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out seven in four relief innings.

Heaney entered a tie game in the sixth inning and went the distance, surrendering a Randal Grichuk two-run home run in the seventh and another run on two hits in the ninth in the process. The poor showing continued a recent feast-or-famine trend for the 31-year-old, as he's now held the opposition to no more than one run or permitted at least three runs three times apiece in his last six appearances. Heaney concludes an injury-plagued 2022 with a 3.10 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 110 strikeouts in 72.2 innings across 14 starts and 16 games.

Urias didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Colorado, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings.

Urias fell behind early thanks to Brendan Rodgers and Sean Bouchard solo shots in the game's first three innings, but Los Angeles rebounded to erase him from the ledger. The 26-year-old ends the campaign with three straight no-decisions, though he still managed to limit the opposition to no more than two runs in all 13 of his second-half starts. Urias' 2.16 ERA ranks second in MLB behind Justin Verlander, while his 0.96 WHIP places him sixth. He also has 166 strikeouts in 175 innings across 31 starts.

Strider (oblique) had no issues while throwing on flat ground Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old had been shut down from throwing due to the oblique strain since his last start Sept. 18, but he's now been cleared to start up a throwing program. Strider remains without an official return timeline, though he seems unlikely to make enough progress within the next week to be available for the start of the NLDS.

Feltner (4-9) earned the win during Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Dodgers, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.

Feltner was granted an early two-run lead but gave it back by surrendering one run on three baserunners in the third inning and a Joey Gallo solo home run in the fifth. Colorado retook the lead in the seventh to put the 26-year-old in line for only his second win in his last 10 turns compared to six losses, while the quality start is his fourth in 19 tries. He concludes his rookie campaign with a high 5.83 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 84 strikeouts in 97.1 innings across 20 appearances (19 starts).
