Snell (8-10) took the loss during Sunday's 2-1 defeat at the hands of the White Sox, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts in six innings.

Snell held Chicago in check until the sixth inning, when a one-out Elvis Andrus solo shot put him in line for the loss. The 29-year-old tossed 60 of 103 pitches for strikes with 12 of the swinging variety. He has surrendered one earned run or fewer in six of his last seven starts, lowering his ERA from 4.14 to 3.38 in the process. Snell concludes the regular season with a 3.38 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 171 strikeouts in 128 innings across 24 starts. His 12.2 K/9 ranks second among players with at least 70 innings.

Contreras did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over three innings against the Cardinals. He did not record a strikeout.

For the fourth consecutive start, the rookie failed to reach five innings, coming as a bit of a surprise after he reached that mark in each of his previous six starts. It is possible the Pirates are simply limiting the 22-year-old's innings as he has now thrown 129.1 innings across all levels this season and averaged just 61.5 pitches over his last four starts, including his 50 Sunday, after averaging 91.0 in his previous six. Contreras is 5-5 with a 3.79 ERA this season.

Wainwright (11-12) took the loss Sunday, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 4.2 innings in a 7-5 loss against the Pirates.

Wainwright started the game strong, retiring the side in order in the first inning, but he ran into trouble in the second, capped off by a three-run homer to Bryan Reynolds. He also allowed runs to score in the third and fifth innings, allowing six runs for the third time in the second half of the season. The poor effort Sunday continues Wainwright's skid to end the season; in his last six starts, he has allowed 23 earned runs over 28.2 innings, increasing his ERA from 3.09 to 3.71.

Peralta struck out four and allowed two hits in four shutout innings in a 4-3 extra-innings loss Sunday against Miami. He did not factor into the decision.

Peralta was excellent in his third appearance since returning from a shoulder injury Sept. 25. He faced just one batter over the minimum and did not allow any baserunner to reach scoring position. The 26-year-old has been building his endurance after the injury, and Sunday's four-inning outing was his longest since tossing five frames Aug. 31. The Brewers are battling for the final wild-card spot in the National League and, should they make it, Peralta could be their Game 1 starter as Brandon Woodruff and Corbin Burnes are likely to pitch over the final three games of the regular season.

Lopez struck out seven in seven scoreless innings while allowing two hits and three walks in a 4-3 extra-innings win Sunday in Milwaukee. He did not factor into the decision.

After a leadoff walk to start the game, Lopez retired the next 12 batters he faced. Three of the five baserunners he allowed reached in the fifth inning, but Lopez got out of a bases-loaded, two-out jam with a strikeout. The 26-year-old ends the year with four consecutive quality starts, dropping his ERA from 4.04 to 3.75. He was rumored to be included in trade talks before the trade deadline, and it's possible that Sunday's outing was his last appearance in a game for the Marlins.

Stroman (6-7) earned the win Sunday, allowing no runs on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Reds. He struck out seven.

Stroman finished the season on a high note with his second scoreless outing since the beginning of September and his fourth straight quality start. Additionally, his seven punchouts on the day were tied for his second highest mark of the campaign. In 25 starts this season, Stroman maintained a 3.50 ERA with six wins over 138.2 innings.

Anderson (2-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on two hits and three walks with no strikeouts over one-third of an inning in an 8-1 loss to the Cubs.

Disaster unfolded to start the game for Anderson. The 34-year-old allowed seven of the first eight batters to reach base, causing manager David Bell to pull him after he surrendered three runs and recorded just one out. Two of Anderson's inherited runners came around to score, leading to a horrific stat line in what was most likely Anderson's last start of the season. Over 23.1 innings in 2022, Anderson owns a 6.56 ERA with 23 strikeouts and 14 walks.

Grove was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a bruised left knee, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.

Grove had X-rays come back negative after he was struck in the knee by a comebacker during his start against the Rockies on Saturday, and he'll now spend at least the next couple weeks on the injured list. The 25-year-old will be eligible to be activated Oct. 16, but he may not be on the Dodgers' postseason roster even when healthy.

Kershaw will start the final game of the regular season Wednesday against the Rockies, but it will be an abbreviated outing, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

With it being a home start against the Rockies, Kershaw is still a great bet for a strong performance, but it's unclear how many innings he will pitch. Kershaw has a 1.50 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 40:7 K:BB in 36 innings this month.

Gray will not make another start this season, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

He would have been on turn to take the ball Tuesday or Wednesday, but Cory Abbott, Paolo Espino and Erick Fedde will be the starters for the road series against the Mets. Gray doesn't turn 25 until December, but this was undoubtedly a rough first full season in the majors. The 6-foot-1 righty posted a 5.02 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 154 strikeouts across 148.2 innings while going 7-10 in 28 starts.
