Senzatela allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings in Monday's win over the Padres. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Through five innings, the only run to score against Senzatela came on a wild pitch in the second inning. He later allowed an RBI base knock to Manny Machado in the sixth. The 26-year-old was in line for his first win since June 2 before Daniel Bard blew a save chance in the ninth. Senzatela had allowed at least three runs in each of his last three outings but he lowered his season ERA to 4.58 after Monday's quality start. He's projected to face Arizona at home this weekend.

Miley (10-4) allowed four hits and a walk while striking out seven in seven scoreless innings to earn the win Monday against the Cubs.

Miley was hit hard in his last outing, as he allowed five runs in five innings against Atlanta. However, he bounced back with a strong showing against Chicago's faltering offense to earn his second win in his last three appearances. The southpaw's production has remained relatively consistent since the All-Star break, and he's posted a 2.95 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 36.2 innings across his last six starts. He tentatively lines up to make his next appearance at home against the Marlins on Saturday.

Steele (2-2) allowed two runs on five hits across four innings to take the loss Monday against the Reds. He walked three and struck out five.

Steele did a decent job of limiting Cincinnati's offensive output, but the lefty was far from dominant as he allowed an average of two baserunners per inning. The Cubs decided to pull him after 82 pitches and his four innings of work, and then the bullpen allowed 12 more runs in the next four innings. Steele has now made two starts for Chicago, allowing five runs across nine innings while striking out six. Those numbers don't jump off the page, but with Jake Arrieta gone and Adbert Alzolay (hamstring) on the injured list, Steele doesn't have a ton of competition for a rotation spot at the moment. He's projected to start again Sunday against the Royals and will attempt to work a little bit deeper into the contest.

Hamels was placed on the 60-day injured list with an arm injury Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Hamels joined the Dodgers on a major-league deal in early August and was working on building back up to full strength after he missed most of the 2020 campaign due to a shoulder injury. However, the southpaw recently experienced arm pain and will be unavailable for the remainder of the season following his placement on the 60-day IL. Hamels will become a free agent during the offseason and has made just one major-league appearance since 2019. The 37-year-old southpaw's career could be over following his latest arm-related setback.

Williams was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Williams made his team debut as a starter Thursday and allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out two in 4.1 innings. The right-hander will provide bullpen depth for the Mets after Geoff Hartlieb was optioned to Triple-A on Monday.

Manager Craig Counsell said he expects Houser (illness) to rejoin the Brewers on Tuesday and begin the ramp-up process as he works his way back from the COVID-19 injured list, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Counsell's comments are an indication that Houser is recuperating well after testing positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 6, but after being away from the Brewers for the past week and a half, he'll need at least a few days to get his arm conditioned before slotting back into the rotation. Milwaukee will likely wait and see how Houser responds to his initial workouts before determining if he'll be ready to return from the IL by the end of the week, or if he'll require a minor-league rehab assignment beforehand.

Velasquez (finger) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Low-A Clearwater on Tuesday, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Velasquez, who has been on the injured list since Aug. 2 due to a blister on his right middle finger, was cleared to head out on the rehab assignment after he threw a live bullpen session Sunday without discomfort. Even though the back end of the rotation remains unsettled while Zach Eflin (kneecap) remains on the IL, the Phillies aren't expect to revisit using Velasquez in a starting role upon his return.

Steele will make his second turn through the Chicago rotation Monday in Cincinnati.

After spending most of the past month at Triple-A Iowa getting stretched out for starting duty, Steele was summoned to the Cubs to make his first MLB start in a doubleheader versus Milwaukee on Aug. 10. He limited the Brewers to three runs on five hits and a walk over five frames, but he struck out only one batter and surrendered two home runs. Steele was already expected to stick around with the Cubs as part of a six-man rotation, but his starting role became even more secure after Chicago released Jake Arrieta and after Adbert Alzolay (hamstring) was moved to the IL. Look for the Cubs to give Steele a evaluation as a starter over the final six weeks of the season as the rebuilding club looks to see if he's a long-term piece in the rotation.

Carrasco (0-1) allowed six earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three across two innings, taking the loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.

Carrasco allowed three home runs in two innings. He has struggled in his four appearances this season and has given up 10 runs in his last three innings. The deepest he's been able to pitch is 4.1 innings. The 34-year-old has a 10.32 ERA and 1.85 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings this season.

Wood (10-3) earned the win Sunday against the Rockies after tossing 6.2 innings of two-run ball, giving up six hits and a walk while striking out six.

Wood ended a woeful stretch of three outings in which he gave up at least four runs while pitching six or fewer innings each time, and he posted his first quality start since July 7, when he tossed seven innings of one-run ball against the Cardinals. The southpaw is looking to rediscover the form he showed at the beginning of the season, when he posted a 1.93 ERA through his first seven starts.
