Fried (2-3) took the loss Tuesday as Atlanta fell 11-6 to the Nationals, coughing up five runs on six hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out seven.

The southpaw hadn't pitched since May 23 due to a couple games being postponed over the weekend, and Fried looked out of sync as he uncorked three wild pitches and needed 92 pitches (64 strikes) to record only 11 outs. The outing snapped a string of three straight quality starts for Fried, but it's also the third time this season he's been tagged for five earned runs or more, leaving him with a 5.35 ERA and 1.55 WHIP despite a solid 41:16 K:BB through 38.2 innings.

Marquez did not factor in the decision against Texas on Tuesday despite allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings.

The right-hander was excellent in the contest, throwing 57 of 88 pitches for strikes and holding the Rangers without an extra-base hit. The lone run against him came as the result of a walk, single and fielder's choice in the fourth inning. Over his past three starts, Marquez has allowed only two runs and has posted a 21:6 K:BB across 20 innings. His next start is tentatively scheduled to come against Oakland at home on Sunday.

Gray (1-4) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Phillies after allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk while fanning eight across 4.2 innings.

Gray gave solo shots to Ronald Torreyes and Odubel Herrera in the third inning, but the eight strikeouts tied his second-best output of the season in that category. Nonetheless, Gray has now given up at least three earned runs in three of his last four starts. He'll try to bounce back when he makes his next scheduled start in St. Louis this weekend.

Nola (4-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Reds after allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks while fanning two across five innings.

Nola didn't have major problems earning his fourth win of the season, but things could've easily gone differently for him, as he didn't miss many bats and the eight hits were his second-highest total of the season. In fact, he's given up at least seven hits in three of his last four starts while allowing at least three runs three times during that stretch, so Nola's not quite pitching at his best. The right-hander is scheduled to start again during next week's home series against Atlanta.

Houser allowed one run on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks over five innings out of the bullpen Tuesday against the Tigers.

The right-hander previously lined up to start Thursday against the Diamondbacks, but he was called upon in long relief Tuesday with starter Eric Lauer lasting only two frames. The Brewers have scheduled off days Wednesday and Monday, allowing them to tweak the starting rotation ahead of the four-game set versus Arizona. Brett Anderson is now set to start Thursday, while Houser should make another start sometime next week.

Alcantara (2-5) allowed four earned runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out four across six innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Alcantara didn't have a particularly dominant performance, as he generated only 10 swinging strikes on 89 total pitches. The nine hits he surrendered were the most he's allowed in any start this season. Even so, the majority of the damage against him came on a three-run home run by Vladimir Guerrero, and he otherwise managed to work out of jams. Despite the slight setback in this outing, Alcantara has a 3.68 ERA with 68 strikeouts across 71 innings for the campaign.

Manager Dave Martinez said Strasburg will undergo an MRI after exiting Tuesday's start in Atlanta with right trapezius tightness, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The right-hander showed decreased velocity and struggled with his command -- he threw only 14 of 30 pitches for strikes -- before being removed during the second inning of Tuesday's contest. It's yet another injury for Strasburg, who's already spent a month-plus on the injured list this season with shoulder inflammation. He gave up one run on one hit and two walks over 1.1 innings before departing.

Hendricks (6-4) allowed three runs across six innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Padres. He gave up seven hits and no walks while striking out four.

Hendricks turned in a fairly typical performance, as he displayed good command with a few strikeouts to pick up the quality start and his sixth win of the year. The righty has now earned the win in his last four appearances, and he has a 2.60 ERA during that stretch. His season ERA still sits at 4.62 due to a few uncharacteristically poor outings, but Hendricks should continue to whittle away at that figure, as he's posted an ERA below 3.50 in each of the past five seasons. He's scheduled to take the mound again Sunday against the Giants.

Oviedo was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old will rejoin the Cardinals ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Dodgers with Jack Flaherty (oblique) landing on the injured list. Flaherty isn't expected to return anytime soon, and Oviedo could be in the mix to fill the open rotation spot.

Strasburg was removed from Tuesday's start against Atlanta with an apparent injury, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

The 32-year-old was removed after being struck by a comebacker around his glove hand, though he had previously been visited by the athletic trainer and was showing decreased velocity. Strasburg was all over the place before being pulled, as he threw only 14 of 30 pitches for strikes. The right-hander's next turn through the rotation is in question, though the Nationals have yet to officially announce an injury.
