  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Takes first loss of 2020

Senzatela (3-1) allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.1 innings Sunday, striking out one batter and taking the loss against the Dodgers.

Senzatela's ERA jumped from 2.90 to 3.96 after allowing four homers and six runs against the lethal Dodgers offense. A big chunk of the damage came in the fourth inning with a three-run shot by Enrique Hernandez. Prior to Sunday, Senzatela had allowed just two homers in 31 innings. He'll take the mound at home against the Padres on Friday.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Cubs' Yu Darvish: Earns fifth win

Darvish (5-1) allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 across seven innings to earn the win Sunday against the White Sox.

Darvish tamed a hot White Sox lineup, allowing only a solo home run to Jose Abreu in the second inning. He otherwise dominated, generating 26 swinging strikes on 103 total pitches while surrendering no other extra-base hits. Darvish is in the midst of a dominant campaign, as he has allowed no more than one earned run in five of his six starts. Overall, he's maintained a 1.70 ERA with a 44:6 K:BB ratio across 37 innings. He lines up for his next outing Saturday at Cincinnati.

  • Corbin Burnes SP | ARI

Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Fans seven in no-decision

Burnes allowed three runs on five hits and two walks across 5.1 innings in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Pirates. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.

The Pirates jumped on Burnes with a double and run-scoring single in the first and added another run an inning later. He did not allow a run in the next three frames but was replaced by Freddy Peralta with one out and a runner on third in the sixth. Burnes was charged with his third run of the day when Peralta allowed a run-scoring single to Bryan Reynolds. Burnes has struck out 12 while allowing four runs in 10.1 innings in his two starts since returning to the rotation Aug. 18. He'll carry a 3.42 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled to come as a rematch with Pittsburgh on Friday.

  • Pirates' JT Brubaker: Strikes out six in no-decision

Brubaker allowed two runs on four hits and a walk across four innings in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Brewers. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.

After Brubaker held the Brewers scoreless through three innings, a single and double led to a run for Milwaukee in the fourth. The right-hander began the fifth but was bounced after allowing another double and an RBI single. The six-strikeout outing marked a step in the right direction for Brubaker, who now has a 4.80 ERA on the campaign. Brubaker is scheduled to face Milwaukee again Friday.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Bullpen session coming Monday

Pirates manager Derek Shelton said Musgrove (triceps) is slated to throw a bullpen session Monday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Musgrove threw off a mound earlier during the Pirates' homestand, so he'll presumably increase his pitch count and/or the intensity of his side session Monday. Since Musgrove will likely need to face hitters in live batting practice or a simulated game before the Pirates activate him from the injured list, he may not be on track to re-enter the Pittsburgh rotation until next week.

  • Humberto Mejia SP | NYM

Marlins' Humberto Mejia: Charged with another loss

Mejia (0-2) allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings as he was charged with the loss Sunday against the Nationals.

Mejia hasn't been very impressive over his first three major-league starts, and he was charged with his second consecutive loss Sunday. He's failed to last longer than four innings in any of his appearances and could find himself back with the alternate squad once the Marlins' starting rotation returns to full health. The right-hander now carries a 5.40 ERA and 11:6 K:BB over 10 innings this season. It's unclear whether he'll get another turn in the rotation in the near future.

  • Tyler Mahle SP | ATL

    Reds' Tyler Mahle: Takes loss

Mahle (0-1) allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five to take the loss Sunday against the Cardinals.

Mahle surrendered the majority of the damage against him on a two-run home run by Harrison Bader in the second inning. He was solid otherwise, generating 11 swinging strikes on 71 total pitches and holding the Cardinals to only one additional extra-base hit. Mahle last pitched Aug. 12 prior to this appearance, which limited the length he was able to work. He's had an inconsistent role with the club to this point, but he should be in line to draw another start for the team's doubleheader Saturday against the Cubs.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Undergoing surgery Wednesday

Strasburg will undergo surgery Wednesday to address the carpal tunnel neuritis in his right hand, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.

The 32-year-old has already effectively been ruled out for the season after being transferred to the 45-day injured list Saturday, and it's now just a matter of him going under the knife and beginning the rehab process. Strasburg had the nerve issue crop up before his first start of the season in July, and he returned a couple weeks later before again shutting things down. The right-hander is expected to be ready to go for the start of spring training next year.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Ready to face live hitters

Martinez (illness) will face live hitters Monday at Busch Stadium, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander continues to make steady progress toward a return to action after receiving clearance to resume baseball activities, with his most recent accomplishment a bullpen session Saturday. Martinez's next step will be determined by how well he recovers from Monday's session, and there continues to be talk the veteran could re-start his season in a relief role in order to get him back into action more quickly.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Strong effort wasted by bullpen

Wheeler didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

The right-hander was sharp, throwing 71 of 105 pitches for strikes while setting a season high for strikeouts, and Wheeler took a shutout into the seventh inning before Austin Riley tagged him for a two-run shot. Unfortunately for the Phillies, the new high-leverage duo of Hector Neris and Brandon Workman proceeded to melt down in the eighth and ninth. Wheeler will take a 2.76 ERA and 20:6 K:BB through 32.2 innings into his next outing Friday in a rematch with Atlanta back at Citizens Bank Park.
