Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Expected to start Game 2
Strasburg is expected to start Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Strasburg should be fully rested for his start after the Nationals swept the Cardinals in the NLCS. In four appearances this postseason, the right-hander owns a 1.64 ERA with a 33:1 K:BB in 22 innings pitched. Max Scherzer is expected to start Game 1, which will allow both Scherzer and Strasburg to be available later in the series if necessary.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Completes simulated game
Wacha (shoulder) tossed a two-inning, 40-pitch simulated game Tuesday in Washington, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wacha ultimately wasn't activated before the end of the season after the Cardinals' playoff run concluded Tuesday, when the Nationals finished off a four-game sweep in the NLCS. That said, the right-hander's ability to face hitters suggests he'll be in store for a fairly normal offseason. An unrestricted free agent this winter, Wacha should be able to find work as a back-end starter, though it's unclear how much interest the Cardinals might have in retaining him.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Racks up 12 Ks in five innings
Corbin (1-0) gave up four earned runs on four hits and three walks with 12 strikeouts over five innings in Tuesday's 7-4 win over St. Louis in Game 4 of the NLCS.
The lefty was simply dominant through the first four innings, recording 10 of the first 12 outs via strikeout and giving up just a Yadier Molina solo homer in the fourth. Corbin finally ran into trouble in the fifth and gave up three more runs before fanning Paul Goldschmidt and Marcell Ozuna to end the inning and turn things over to the bullpen. The Cardinals will face either the Yankees or Astros in the World Series, where Corbin will presumably start Game 3.

Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Named Game 5 starter
Mikolas will start Game 5 of the NLCS against the Nationals on Wednesday if necessary, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Mikolas gave up just one earned run over six innings pitched during the first game of the series against the Nationals, and manager Mike Shildt confirmed that the right-hander will get the chance to start again if the Cardinals win Game 4 on Tuesday. In 12 innings pitched this postseason, the 31-year-old has allowed two earned runs off 10 hits and four walks while recording nine strikeouts.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Named Game 4 starter
Corbin will start Game 4 of the NLCS against the Cardinals on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
The 30-year-old pitched Game 1 of the NLDS against the Dodgers, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and five walks while recording nine strikeouts over six innings pitched. Corbin recorded a 14-7 record with a 3.25 ERA over the regular season. The southpaw's availability could be limited later in the series if necessary, especially with Max Scherzer pitching Game 2 and Stephen Strasburg starting Game 3, which would give them more rest.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Tabbed as Game 3 starter
Strasburg will start Game 3 of the NLDS against the Cardinals on Monday, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
Strasburg has pitched in three games this postseason, allowing four runs on 11 hits and one walk while recording 21 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched, recording wins in two of his appearances. In 33 regular-season starts this season, the right-hander recorded a 3.32 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. Manager Dave Martinez's decision to start Strasburg in Game 3 could allow him to be available later in the series if necessary.

Jacob Nix SP | SD
Padres' Jacob Nix: Arrested in Arizona
Nix (elbow) was arrested Sunday in Peoria, Ariz. on a charge of criminal trespassing, Joe Enea of ABC 15 Arizona reports.
According to a Peoria police report, Nix and another Padres farmhand, Thomas Cosgrove, entered a residence but were quickly confronted by the homeowner, who deployed a Taser on Nix as he fled the premises. The Padres issued a statement Thursday indicating they were aware of the incident and wouldn't comment further on the matter while legal proceedings remain ongoing. Nix missed most of the 2019 season while rehabbing a torn UCL suffered in spring training, but he returned to action in late July and covered 24.1 innings across three minor-league affiliates.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Likely won't be on NLCS roster
Wacha (shoulder) likely won't be on the roster for the National League Championship Series against the Nationals, Jeff Jones of MLB.com reports.
Wacha threw a bullpen session Wednesday, but manager Mike Shildt indicated Thursday that the team will likely keep the same roster for the NLCS as it used in the NLDS. The right-hander could return if the Cardinals advance to the World Series if he feels healthy enough. Wacha suffered a mild right shoulder sprain Sept. 25.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Named starter for NLCS Game 3
Flaherty was named the starter for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Nationals on Monday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Flaherty was effective in his two starts in the NLDS, posting a 2.76 ERA with a 16:2 K:BB over 13 innings against the Braves. Miles Mikolas will start Game 1 of the series with Adam Wainwright handling the starting duties for Game 2.
