Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Activated ahead of start
Hill (forearm) was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start against the Orioles on Thursday.
Hill is slated to rejoin the Dodgers' rotation after spending more than three months on the shelf with a strained forearm. Seeing as the veteran lefty pitched two innings in his simulated game last Friday, he's only expected to throw two innings or 30 pitches in his first game back. The plan is for Hill to build up to five innings and 75 pitches over the course of his next four starts. Jaime Schultz was designated for assignment to free up a roster spot for Hill.

Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Padres' Chris Paddack: Hoping to start next week
Paddack hopes to start next week in Milwaukee, but the Padres were noncommittal after Wednesday's victory over the Cubs, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
The team has not revealed its end-of-season plan for Paddack, not even to Paddack himself. "We didn't really have a specific number [of innings]," Paddack said. "I'll get ready for Milwaukee until they tell me otherwise." Paddack hit a rough stretch there in August but has rebounded with a 0.49 ERA and 23:3 K:BB in his last three starts (18.1 innings). He's logged 135.2 innings so far this year after throwing 90 frames last season in his return from Tommy John surgery.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Only going two innings
Hill (forearm) is only expected to throw two innings or 30 pitches in his return from the injured list Thursday in Baltimore, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
This really isn't a surprise, as Hill only pitched two innings in his simulated game last Friday. The plan is for Hill to build up from two innings and 30 pitches to five innings and 75 pitches over the course of four starts this month. Julio Urias is a candidate to follow Hill in Thursday's game and throw 2-to-3 innings out of the bullpen.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Confirmed as Thursday's starter
Musgrove (foot) is confirmed as Thursday's starter against the Giants.
He was scratched from his scheduled start Friday with right foot discomfort but is ready to take the ball for the first time since Aug. 31. This is a favorable setup in San Francisco, but Musgrove has a 5.60 ERA in 10 second-half starts, so he's far from a safe option.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Returning next week
Woodruff (oblique) will return to major-league action next week but the Brewers are still working through what his role will be, Sophia Minnaert of FOX Sports Wisconsin reports.
After throwing 40 pitches during a live batting-practice session Wednesday, Woodruff would line up to return early next week during a home series against the Padres. For fantasy purposes, it would probably be preferable for him to be the second pitcher to enter the game during his first appearance, as he is probably not stretched out enough to go five innings. He could piggyback Zach Davies on Monday or Gio Gonzalez on Tuesday. Woodruff threw all of his pitches during Wednesday's session.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Blister resurfaces
Ray experienced the return of a blister on his left middle finger while warming up in the bullpen prior to Wednesday's start, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.
Ray endured the shortest outing of his career Wednesday, giving up five runs in two-thirds of an inning. Last week in Cincinnati, the left-hander developed the blister, which he and the team thought had healed enough for him to pitch. However, the skin on the finger ripped off during the pregame bullpen session. Both Ray and manager Torey Lovullo think the pitcher will make his next start Monday at home against the Marlins.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Strikes out nine in loss
Gray (10-7) gave up three runs on two hits and three walks while striking out nine over 6.1 innings to take the loss against the Mariners on Wednesday.
Gray was pitching a no-hitter going into the the seventh inning, but he hit a batter, walked another, and gave up a three-run homer to put a tough finish on an otherwise spectacular outing. It's been a nice stretch for the 29-year-old, as he's posted a 4-1 record with a 1.50 ERA and a 0.95 in his last seven starts. Gray is scheduled to make his next start Monday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Padres' Chris Paddack: Strikes out seven in win
Paddack (9-7) gave up three hits and one walk while striking out seven through six scoreless innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Wednesday.
Paddack was electric, generating 20 swinging strikes as he cruised through six innings in the quality start. Paddack continues to limit baserunners, posting a 1.00 WHIP through 25 starts, which currently ranks him in the top five rookie pitchers since 1947. The 23-year-old has a 2-2 record with a 4.02 ERA and a 34:6 K:BB in his last six outings. Paddack is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against the Brewers at Miller Park.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Cubs' Cole Hamels: Lasts 4.1 innings in loss
Hamels (7-7) gave up one run on four hits and four walks while striking out six through 4.1 innings to take the loss against the Padres on Wednesday.
Hamels threw four scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth frame, but he just wasn't efficient enough, throwing 91 pitches in the shortened outing. The 35-year-old is in a rough stretch, posting a 1-4 record with a 7.58 ERA in his last seven starts. Hamels is scheduled to make his next start Monday against the Reds at Wrigley Field.

Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Takes second loss
Webb (1-2) was charged with the loss against the Pirates on Wednesday, surrendering four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four across 4.2 innings.
It certainly wasn't a solid start by any means, but only two of Webb's seven hits allowed went for extra bases. The right-hander didn't allow any home runs, and he only walked one batter. Not bad for the young 22-year-old, who owns a 6.75 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across five starts for the Giants this season. His status in the rotation is not guaranteed, especially with Johnny Cueto (elbow) set to return off the injured list.
