  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Handed sixth loss

Paddack (7-6) took the loss Friday after surrendering five runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk while striking out six over 4.2 innings against the Phillies.

Paddack was tagged for one run in the second inning, two in the third and two more in the fifth before being lifted from the ballgame. Unfortunately, his team failed to provide him with any run support while he was in the game. The 23-year-old right-hander didn't appear to have his best stuff Friday night, but he still owns a 3.44 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 121 punchouts over 115 innings this season.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Reds' Luis Castillo: Tagged for eight runs

Castillo (11-5) was saddled with the loss after allowing eight runs on nine hits while striking out three over 4.1 innings Friday night against the Cardinals.

Castillo never settled into this one, surrendering one run in the first inning, followed by three in the second, two in the third and two more in the fifth. He struggled to keep the ball in the park, as seven of his eight runs allowed came via the long ball. Despite an uncharacteristic outing, Castillo sports a 3.10 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with a 175:61 K:BB over 148 frames in 2019.

  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Notches ninth win

Wainwright (9-8) picked up the win after yielding three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six over 6.2 innings Friday night against the Reds.

The veteran right-hander cruised through six scoreless frames before the Reds pushed across three runs in the seventh on an RBI double and a two-run blast. Wainwright pounded the zone all night, firing 64 of 91 pitches for strikes. Following Friday's victory, he owns a 4.33 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with a 124:50 K:BB over 126.2 innings this season.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Another rehab outing on tap

Cueto (elbow) will make his next rehab appearance for High-A San Jose on Tuesday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Cueto is set for his fourth rehab outing, and his second with San Jose. He surrendered one run on four hits and struck out two over 2.2 frames Thursday in his last minor-league appearance. A timeline for Cueto's return still hasn't been set, but he'll need to be activated and added to the 40-man roster by Aug. 31 to be eligible for the playoffs, should the Giants manage to extend their season.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Officially starting Saturday

Webb will be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to start Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Webb was rumored to be in the mix for Saturday's start earlier in the week, and skipper Bruce Bochy confirmed prior to Friday's clash that Webb will toe the rubber for the third game of the series. He's ready to make his major-league debut after surrendering just one run over seven innings during his last start Monday against Triple-A Nashville. Webb won't be guaranteed any starts beyond this weekend, but if he fares well in his MLB debut, he could unseat the struggling Tyler Beede in the rotation.

  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: Ready for rehab stint

Urena (back) is scheduled to throw one inning for High-A Jupiter on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Urena was able to throw all of his pitches during his last bullpen session Tuesday, and the Marlins have since cleared him for a rehab assignment. Miami is expected to bring Urena back as a reliever, which will shorten the length of his rehab stint. A timetable for his return has yet to be established.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Resuming rehab Friday

Lopez (shoulder) will start for Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Lopez was pulled off his last rehab stint after suffering a brief setback, but he'll take the mound again Friday at Triple-A. He's been on the shelf since June 19 with a right shoulder strain, so he may need multiple starts in the minors before being activated.

  • Dustin May SP | MIL

Dodgers' Dustin May: Won't start Sunday

May will not start Sunday against the Braves but will be available out of the bullpen, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said May will pitch Sunday even though he will not receive the start, as the team hopes to limit his workload down the stretch. In three appearances for the Dodgers, the rookie carries an ERA of 2.65 with a 15:2 K:BB over 17 innings. The starter for Sunday's game has not yet been determined, and Roberts hasn't announced his plans for May beyond this weekend.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Brewers' Zach Davies: Tabbed as Monday's starter

Davies (back) will come off the injured list to start Monday's game in St. Louis, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

His return was anticipated at some point during the Brewers; current road trip, and the team has now confirmed that Davies will line up for two starts next week, with the second turn coming next Sunday at home against the Diamondbacks. His last start was on Aug. 4, so he did not require a rehab assignment. Davies has a 6.23 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 15 strikeouts in 26 innings over five second-half starts.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Mets' Marcus Stroman: Gets first win with Mets

Stroman (7-11) picked up the win against the Braves on Thursday, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits over five innings, striking out five and walking four as the Mets bagged a 10-8 victory.

He labored at times in issuing four free passes and needing 96 pitches to make it through his 5.1 frames, but Stroman did enough to pick up his first win as a Met in his third start with his new team. His 5.17 ERA since arriving from Toronto isn't very impressive, but he's still sporting a solid 3.21 mark over his combined 140.1 innings on the season.
