Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Struggles in loss
Buehler (9-2) gave up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out six through 5.1 innings to take the loss against the Nationals on Sunday.
Pitching on his 25th birthday, Buehler threw four scoreless innings before giving up three runs in the fifth frame and a disastrous sixth inning that he would not finish. The 5.1 innings marked his shortest outing since May 29, and the seven runs tied a career high. The right-hander has a 3.38 ERA and a 10.1 K/9 through 20 starts this season. Buehler will make his next start Friday against the Padres at Dodger Stadium.

Tony Gonsolin RP | KC
Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Promotion on tap
Gonsolin was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Gonsolin surrendered four runs on six hits and fanned three over four innings during his only major-league start earlier this season, and he'll get another shot to prove he belongs with the big club. It's unclear at this time whether he'll be used as a reliever or a starter.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Phillies' Drew Smyly: Receives another start
Smyly is listed as the Phillies' scheduled starter for Tuesday's game against the Giants.
The lefty will be rewarded with a second turn through the rotation after limiting the Pirates to one run while striking out eight in six innings in his Phillies debut July 21. Smyly could be one of the top candidates to lose his spot in the rotation, however, if the Phillies are active to bring in another starting pitcher via trade prior to Wednesday's deadline.

Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Awaits doctor visit
The Pirates are not expected to provide an update on Taillon (elbow) until after he sees a doctor in the coming week, general manager Neal Huntington told 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh.
The organization continues to explore different options with its ace pitcher. "We'll have more tangible information after Jameson sees a doctor," Huntington said. "To speak to those options right now would not be appropriate. We'll wait and respond and react accordingly based upon the information we get as we work through the next steps." Taillon was a trendy fantasy preseason pick but started only seven games in 2019.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Cleared for start
Gray (calf) is confirmed as the Rockies' starting pitcher for Monday's game against the Dodgers.
Gray exited his previous start one week earlier against this same Dodgers squad after being struck in the left leg with a line drive. He escaped the incident with a left calf contusion and was able to complete his between-starts bullpen session without incident, allowing him to rejoin the rotation without missing a turn. Gray isn't expected to face any limitations with his pitch count while he returns to action, but a matchup with a powerful Dodgers offense at Coors Field doesn't make the right-hander the most comfortable fantasy option in weekly lineups.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Takes loss despite solid outing
Ray (9-7) was charged with the loss after surrendering three runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out 11 over six innings Sunday against the Marlins.
Ray was bitten by the long ball in this one, as two of his three runs allowed came on home runs. Despite turning in a quality start, he was saddled with the loss. The 27-year-old lefty now owns a 3.91 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with a 173:58 K:BB over 129 innings this season.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Fails to complete five Sunday
Quintana lasted just 4.2 innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 11-4 win over the Brewers. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out three.
After four innings, it looked like Quintana was easily on his way to win No. 9, as he was staked to a 7-0 lead and had given up just one hit to that point. However, things unraveled in the fifth, as he allowed three hits and two walks before getting the hook with two outs in a game the Cubs needed badly after losing the first two in Milwaukee. Quintana will carry a 4.47 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled for Friday against the Brewers again.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Braves' Kevin Gausman: Hit with sixth loss
Gausman (3-6) took the loss after surrendering six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings Sunday against the Phillies.
The Phillies jumped on Gausman in the first inning, scoring one in the first, another in the third and four in the fifth before exiting. The 28-year-old right-hander gave up just one run over seven frames in his last start against the Nationals on July 21, but he wasn't able to turn in a second straight quality start. He now owns a 5.97 ERA with 80 punchouts over 75.1 innings this year.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Mets' Marcus Stroman: Dealt to New York
Stroman was traded from the Blue Jays to the Mets on Sunday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Stroman has put together a stellar season on the hill to this point, posting a 2.96 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 99 punchouts over 124.2 innings with Toronto. Unless the non-contending Mets plan to flip him, he'd immediately bolster New York's starting rotation, likely slotting in behind Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard (who is also on the trade block) as the team's No. 3 starter. After all, New York would have him under team control for 2020. It remains to be seen who the Blue Jays will receive in return for Stroman.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Fans eight for ninth win
Nola (9-2) secured the win after surrendering four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out eight over 6.2 innings Sunday against the Braves.
Nola cruised through the first six innings, though he ran into trouble in the seventh, giving up a three-run homer followed by a solo blast. Fortunately, his offense came through by putting up nine runs in the contest. The 26-year-old right-hander continues to put together a solid season, as he now owns a 3.72 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with a 153:55 K:BB over 135.1 innings this season.
