  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Allows four runs in win

Strasburg (9-4) allowed four runs on seven hits with no walks across seven innings to earn the win Thursday against the Marlins. He struck out four.

Strasburg refrained from walking a batter and only allowed one extra-base hit, but Miami pieced together a three-run inning in the second and added another in the fifth in what could have easily been a better start. Still, he came away with his fifth win in the last six outings and his control was impressive. Strasburg will take a middling 3.88 ERA into his next start at home against this same Marlins club, likely to happen Wednesday.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Whiffs 10 in dominant effort

Nola allowed one hit and one walk while striking out 10 across seven shutout innings Thursday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.

Nola was in complete control as only two Mets reached scoring position during his seven innings of work -- one of which made it on an error. He managed double-digit strikeouts for his second consecutive start, this effort headlined by 20 called strikes. Since his ERA spiked to 4.89 after his June 15 start, Nola has allowed only one earned run across 15 innings in two outings, whiffing 20 while handing out only two free passes. He appears to be in line for a strong second half but will have his next chance to prove it in a tough matchup at Atlanta on Wednesday.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Another strong performance

Wheeler allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out seven across six innings Thursday against the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.

Wheeler kept the Phillies' lineup off-balance through his six innings of work, with the only extra-base hit he allowed coming on a solo home run from Bryce Harper. While he generated only 12 swinging strikes across 107 total pitches, the seven strikeouts were Wheeler's highest total in his past five starts. Since his ERA spiked to 4.94 after his June 17 start, Wheeler has allowed just two earned runs across 13 innings of work in his past two outings. He'll look to keep his run of success going in his next effort, currently scheduled for Wednesday at home against the Yankees.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Picks up fourth win

Anderson (4-2) earned the win against Seattle on Thursday, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk while striking out six.

It was a nice bounce-back performance for Anderson, who gave up a season-high six runs in his previous start against Cincinnati. He breezed through the first five innings but was pulled from the game after an error and a double resulted in a run in the sixth. Still, it was an overall positive outing for Anderson, who picked up his first win in June and fourth overall this season. He'll carry a 4.42 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 9.6 K/9 into his next start in Cincinnati on Tuesday.

  • Pirates' JT Brubaker: Suffers setback

Brubaker (forearm) suffered a setback during his rehab assignment, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

Specifics regarding the setback are not yet known. Brubaker is back with Triple-A Indianapolis as he figures out his next step.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Unlikely to return in 2019

Anderson (knee) is unlikely to return from the 60-day injured list this season, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Before Anderson underwent surgery on his left knee earlier this month, the Rockies left the door open for him to return later in the season, but the organization is apparently no longer seriously considering bringing him back. Colorado will likely monitor the southpaw's progress carefully over the next months before determining whether it's worthwhile to tender him a contract for 2020, when he'll be entering his second year of arbitration.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Picks up second straight win

Musgrove (6-7) picked up the win against the Astros on Thursday, scattering nine hits over six scoreless innings while striking out five and walking none as the Pirates cruised to a 10-0 victory.

It's been an erratic season for the right-hander, but that's now back-to-back solid starts, as Musgrove has given up just one earned run with a 13:0 K:BB over his last 13 innings to bring his ERA down to 4.27. He'll look to keep it rolling in his next start, which will see him take on the Cubs in a Tuesday home matchup.

  • Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Returns to minors after start

Gonsolin was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

Gonsolin will head back to the minors after struggling in his big-league debut Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits over four innings while striking out three in a losing effort. The 25-year-old will rejoin Oklahoma City's rotation for the time being, though he could get another shot with the big club later in the season should an opportunity arise. Zac Rosscup was promoted from the minors in a corresponding move.

  • Dustin May SP | MIL

Dodgers' Dustin May: Climbs to Triple-A

May was promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

May will get his first taste of Triple-A after impressing in a return trip to Tulsa, compiling a 3.74 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 86:20 K:BB in 79.1 innings (15 starts). The 21-year-old righty is scheduled to make his debut with Oklahoma City on Sunday against Triple-A Nashville.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Could return before All-Star break

Manager Joe Maddon said Hendricks (shoulder) "possibly" will return from the injured list before the All-Star break, which begins July 8, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Hendricks completed a 30-pitch bullpen Wednesday and felt no issues, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com, and he'll ramp up to 45 pitches in another bullpen session Saturday before the Cubs determine the next step in his rehab. The right-hander has been sidelined since June 15 with a shoulder impingement.
