  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Solid five frames in return

Paddack allowed two runs on five hits and three walks across five inning in a 6-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday. He struck out one and did not factor in the decision

Paddack held the Pirates hitless through the first four innings, but he gave up three hits in the fifth, including a two-run homer to Jose Osuna. Overall it was a good performance from Paddack after spending the previous 10 days in the minors to help manage his workload. The 23-year-old has a 3.18 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 73:16 K:BB through 70.2 innings and figures to take the mound next weekend versus the Cardinals.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Completes another bullpen session

Cueto (elbow) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Cueto is now mixing in all his pitches and is throwing two bullpen sessions per week as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The 33-year-old will attempt to progress to live batting practice in July and move to rehab games in August with the ultimate goal of returning to the majors in September.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Rebounds with seven strong innings

Wheeler (6-5) earned the win Saturday against the Cubs by allowing one run on five hits across seven innings. He struck out five and walked one.

Wheeler dominated at Wrigley Field through the first six innings, but he lost the shutout in the seventh when he induced a double play with the bases loaded. The 29-year-old gave up 14 runs (nine earned) in his previous two starts, so it was a much-needed bounce-back performance. Wheeler will attempt to keep things going Friday against the Braves.

  • Ben Lively SP | CLE

Diamondbacks' Ben Lively: Dealt to Diamondbacks

Lively was traded from the Royals to the Diamondbacks on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations.

Lively had been designated for assignment by the Royals on Thursday. The 27-year-old owns an unimpressive 4.80 ERA in 120 career major-league innings. He's spent most of this season at the Triple-A level and will be optioned back there by the Diamondbacks.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Crushed by Mets

Quintana (4-7) was handed the loss Saturday against the Mets after surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits over 4.1 innings. He struck out two and walked two.

Quintana never got comfortable Saturday and gave up at least one run in all five innings pitched, with Wilson Ramos' two-run homer in the fifth inning representing the final straw. The 30-year-old is now winless in his last nine starts and has allowed 32 runs (29 earned) with a 34:18 K:BB over 48.1 innings in that stretch. Quintana will attempt to break into the win column Friday at Cincinnati.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Feels great after bullpen session

Syndergaard (hamstring) felt "great" after a bullpen session Saturday according to manager Mickey Callaway, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

Syndergaard landed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a low-grade hamstring strain. He appears to still be on track to miss just one start and return Wednesday against the Phillies, though the Mets haven't officially confirmed their plans.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Padres' Cal Quantrill: Moving to bullpen

Quantrill will pitch out of the bullpen for now, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Quantrill hasn't pitched in a game since his last start back on June 14, though he's warmed up in the bullpen. Logan Allen has claimed his rotation spot for now, though the Padres haven't ruled out Quantrill returning to a starting role at some point down the line.

  • Corbin Burnes SP | ARI

Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Sent to Triple-A

Burnes was optioned to Triple-A San Antonio on Saturday.

Burnes has an ugly 8.85 ERA in 40.2 innings for the Brewers this season. He can blame a 39.5 percent HR/FB rate and a .394 BABIP for much of that number, as his 29.8 percent strikeout rate is more than enough to offset a slightly high 10.1 percent walk rate. He's expected to mostly pitch out of the bullpen in San Antonio, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports, indicating that he's not likely to return to the rotation if he returns to Milwaukee at some point this season. Burnes hasn't been good in either role at the big-league level this season, posting a 10.70 ERA as a starter and a 7.43 ERA out of the bullpen.

  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Back from minors

The Padres recalled Paddack from High-A Lake Elsinore ahead of his scheduled start Saturday against the Pirates.

Reliever Gerardo Reyes was optioned to Triple-A El Paso to clear a spot on the active roster for Paddack, who was shut down for the past week and a half while the Padres remain mindful of restricting his workload this season. Paddack may be subjected to further non-injury-related shutdowns later in the season, but he should remain a worthy starting option in just about every fantasy format when he's included in the Padres' pitching schedule. He had been scuffling prior to his assignment to Lake Elsinore, however, posting a 5.76 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over his last five starts for San Diego.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Tossing bullpen session Saturday

Syndergaard (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports reports

It still seems like he is Wednesday's probable starter in Philadelphia, but that hasn't been confirmed by the team. Syndergaard has a 3.20 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 19.2 innings over three June starts.
