  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Grabs third win

Wainwright (3-2) earned the win against the Nationals on Tuesday by giving up two runs on six hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Wainwright gave up back-to-back solo homers to Adam Eaton and Victor Robles during the third inning, but otherwise held the Nationals in check. The veteran right-hander has a 3.73 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 27:12 K:BB through 31.1 innings as he gets set to face the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Labors through 3.2 innings

Velasquez (1-1) took the loss against the Tigers on Tuesday by allowing three runs on six hits over 3.2 innings. He struck out seven and walked three.

Velasquez struggled mightily with his command Tuesday as he needed 99 pitches to record 11 outs. The outing was by far the right-hander's worst of the season, as he had yet to give up more than two runs in his previous four starts. The 26-year-old has a 2.73 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB as he lines up to face the Cardinals next week.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

    Braves' Julio Teheran: Takes loss

Teheran (2-4) allowed four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out eight across seven innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Padres.

Teheran was taken deep three times -- all solo shots -- to account for three of the four earned runs he surrendered. However, he did continue to produce strikeouts, and he now has at least six punchouts in seven of his eight starts this season. Despite the K's, he has a bloated 5.35 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 38.2 innings thanks to allowing 4.2 BB/9 and 1.9 HR/9. He will look to get right against the Marlins in Miami on Sunday.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Reds' Luis Castillo: Tosses another quality start

Castillo allowed two runs on five hits and three walks over 6.2 innings during Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Mets. He struck out seven but did not factor in the decision.

Castillo was unable to finish the seventh inning, but nonetheless delivered yet another strong outing Tuesday. The 26-year-old has yet to allowed more than two runs in a start and has a 1.45 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 50:17 K:BB through 43.1 innings. Castillo lines up to start next Sunday versus the Giants.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Hit hard by Indians

Alcantara (1-3) allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks across 5.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Indians.

Alcantara wasn't helped by his defense but also made mistakes of his own, with all four of his earned runs coming as a result of homers. He also continued to struggle with his command and has just a 22:15 K:BB across 33.1 innings for the campaign. As a result, he has now allowed at least four earned runs in three of his past four outings. Alcantara lines up for a pair of road starts next week (at CHC, at NYM).

  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Sharp again in win

Paddack (2-1) picked up the win against the Braves on Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on four hits over six innings, striking out five and walking one as the Padres won 4-3.

The rookie continues to look like an ace in the early going, as his latest sharp outing moves his ERA to 1.93 and his WHIP to 0.70 through 33 innings. Perhaps most impressively, he's holding opponents to a minuscule .126 batting average, with only 14 hits allowed over his six starts. Paddack is scheduled to take the mound next on the road against the Dodgers on Sunday.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Falls to 3-2

Marquez (3-2) took the loss against the Brewers on Tuesday, yielding four earned runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking none in Colorado's 4-3 defeat.

Marquez pitched well, setting down the first 15 batters he faced and inducing 11 groundball outs, but he was tagged for a three-run long ball from Jesus Aguilar in the seventh inning that accounted for three of the four runs against him. The right-hander is still enjoying a strong start to the season, as he's now sporting a 2.93 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 43:10 K:BB through 46 innings.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Throws bullpen session

Cueto (elbow) completed a 25-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Cueto resumed throwing in February but Tuesday marked his first bullpen session since undergoing Tommy John surgery last August. The 33-year-old still has significant work to do in his rehab and has an outside chance to return in the latter stages of this season.

  • Sixto Sanchez SP | MIA

Marlins' Sixto Sanchez: Opening at High-A

Sanchez will make his season debut Thursday for High-A Jupiter, not at Double-A Jacksonville as previously reported, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Sanchez has been spending time at extended spring training while waiting to debut as the Marlins look to manage his workload following an injury-plagued 2018 campaign. It's not clear why he'll head to a different level than initially reported, though he does only have 13 starts under his belt at High-A, and the Marlins are in no hurry to get him to the big leagues.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Set to start Thursday

Peralta (shoulder) will return from the injured list to start Thursday against the Rockies, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Peralta will wind up missing two-and-a-half weeks with a shoulder issue. The 22-year-old had mixed results over his first four starts of the season, with one start lasting eight scoreless innings and the other three each lasting no more than 3.1 frames.
