Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Takes loss
Mahle (0-2) allowed four earned runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out nine across six innings to take the loss Sunday against the Padres.
Mahle was largely effective outside of a disastrous third inning, during which he surrendered six hits, including three that went for extra bases. His nine strikeouts were backed up by 20 called strikes and 13 swinging strikes. Despite allowing four earned runs in consecutive starts, Mahle has an impressive 24:4 K:BB over 23 frames, giving hope that he will turn in a better start his next time out despite a tough match-up Saturday against the Cardinals.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Goes six strong
Gray (2-3) allowed one hit and four walks while striking out five across six scoreless innings to earn the win Sunday against the Phillies.
Despite the walks, Gray seemed in control, throwing 62 of his 97 pitches in the zone and beginning 15 of the 24 batters he faced with a strike. He's gotten off to a strong start this season, posting a 2.78 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 32.1 innings.

Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT
Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Burned late
Eickhoff (0-1) allowed four earned runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out eight across six innings to take the loss Sunday against the Rockies.
Eickhoff danced in and out of trouble in his first start of the season, but handled Coors fairly well by allowing only two extra-base hits and no home runs. He entered the sixth inning having allowed only one earned run but ultimately let the first four runners he faced reach base, leading to a three-run inning. He'll be in a much better environment to succeed in his next start, which comes at home against Miami.

Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Potential start Monday
Anderson (knee) could return to the rotation Monday against the Nationals, Taylor McGregor of AT&T Sportsnet reports.
Manager Bud Black hinted after the game that Anderson will be the starter but stopped short of confirming the news. Anderson pitched nine innings prior to being placed on the injured list with inflammation in his right knee, racking up an 11.00 ERA and 2.33 WHIP.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Dominant in win
Strasburg (2-1) struck out 11 and gave up just two hits and two walks over eight scoreless innings in a win over the Marlins on Sunday.
Strasburg cruised through Miami with 20 swinging strikes and 23 called strikes. The Marlins are not the toughest matchup, but this was an encouraging outing after the 30-year-old gave up five home runs over his last two starts. The right-hander, who has a 4.11 ERA over five starts this season, will make his next start Saturday against the Padres.

Adrian Houser SP | SF
Brewers' Adrian Houser: To start Monday
Houser will make his first major-league start Monday against the Cardinals, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Houser is set to fill the opening in the Brewers rotation due to Freddy Peralta (shoulder) being placed on the injured list. The 26-year-old threw 13.2 innings -- all in relief -- in Milwaukee last season, posting a 3.29 ERA with eight strikeouts and seven walks. He has pitched well as a starter with Triple-A San Antonio to begin 2019, as he has a 1.10 ERA across 16.1 innings with 18 punchouts and two walks.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: ERA continues to rise
Syndergaard (1-2) yielded six runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks in five innings against the Cardinals on Sunday. He struck out five in the loss.
Syndergaard didn't allow a home run, but St. Louis was able to put together several rallies on him. He's allowed at least four earned runs in four of his first five starts in 2019, giving him an unsightly 5.90 ERA in 29 frames. That ERA is the worst after the first five starts of the season in his career. He'll look to get back on track against Milwaukee on Saturday.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Reds' Alex Wood: Bullpen session progress
Wood (back) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Saturday at Petco Park and will continue his rehab at the Reds' extended spring training facility in Arizona, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Wood threw all fastballs in Saturday's session but will use all of his pitches in a similar session Tuesday in Arizona. Unlike previous attempts in his rehab, he didn't feel any spasms immediately after throwing.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Fans four in no-decision
Ray struck out four and allowed one run on four hits and a walk in six innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Sunday.
Ray turned in a strong outing, but his offense managed just three hits on the afternoon. The lone run he allowed didn't come until the sixth inning off a Javier Baez triple. The 27-year-old southpaw lowered his ERA to 3.95 with a 30:16 K:BB in 27.1 innings. He'll get a rematch with the Cubs at home this Friday.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Confirmed for second start
Anderson will make at least one more start Friday against the Mets, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
The Brewers aren't entirely sure how their rotation will shape out in the future, but Anderson earned a second shot after striking out five in five scoreless innings Saturday against the Dodgers. Freddy Peralta (shoulder) is tracking towards a short stay on the injured list but with Corbin Burnes optioned Friday, there could still be a spot for Anderson beyond Friday's start.
