Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Wins despite mediocre outing
Hill improved to 9-5 on the season despite a mediocre outing Saturday against the Cardinals in which he surrendered four runs in five innings. He gave up two hits (including one homer) and four walks while striking out eight.
Hill struck out the side in the first inning and kept the Cardinals scoreless through three, though a four-run fourth inning gave him an unimpressive overall stat line. He walked the bases loaded with one out in that frame before allowing a grand slam to Patrick Wisdom. The start was Hill's third straight in which he allowed four runs, giving him a 6.75 ERA over that stretch and a 4.02 ERA on the season. His next opportunity will likely come Friday against the Padres.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Reds' Michael Lorenzen: To start against Milwaukee on Tuesday
Lorenzen will take the mound as the starting pitcher versus the Brewers on Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Lorenzen has not started a game for the Reds since the 2015 season but should be able to provide a few innings of work since he's regularly used as a multi-inning reliever for interim manager Jim Riggleman. Across 42 appearances this year, he's logged a 3.21 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 49 strikeouts over 67.1 innings.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Cubs' Cole Hamels: Fans seven in no-decision
Hamels didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 3-2 win over the Reds, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks over 6.2 innings while striking out seven.
The veteran southpaw delivered his sixth quality start in nine outings for the Cubs, but Hamels was actually in line for his first loss with his new club before Ian Happ took him off the hook with a three-run blast in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hamels will take a sparkling 1.57 ERA as a Cub into his next start Wednesday on the road against the Diamondbacks.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Braves' Kevin Gausman: Notches 10th win
Gausman (10-10) picked up the win Friday, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks over 5.2 innings while striking out one in a 10-5 victory over the Nationals.
The right-hander is now 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA in eight starts as a Brave, although Gausman hasn't been quite as sharp in September, allowing a homer in three straight outings with a 4.41 ERA and 9:6 K:BB in 16.1 innings. He'll try to find his August form again when he takes the mound Wednesday at home against the Cardinals.

Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Achieves quality start
Anderson (6-9) took the loss against the Giants on Friday, giving up two runs on seven hits over six innings while striking out six.
It was an important outing for the southpaw, who registered his first quality start in over a month. He's had a rough go of it lately, as he's seen his ERA increase by almost a full run since early August to 4.82. He'll travel to Los Angeles for his next start, where an NL West matchup against the Dodgers awaits him.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Blanks Boston for 12th win
Syndergaard (12-3) picked up the win Friday, allowing three hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out six in an 8-0 victory over the Red Sox.
The right-hander was in complete control for most of the night, and the only time Boston had runners in scoring position was after a two-out double-steal in the fourth inning by Ian Kinsler and Jackie Bradley -- a rally which Syndergaard promptly squashed by getting Andrew Benintendi to ground out. Thor's been alternating quality starts with shakier outings since the beginning of August, but he'll look to break that pattern Thursday on the road against the Nationals.
-
Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Strikes out eight in loss
Flaherty (8-7) suffered the loss Friday against the Dodgers, allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.
Flaherty pitched well enough to earn the victory, but he just didn't get any run support from the Cardinals' offense. His only blemish was a solo home run off the bat of Yasiel Puig in the second inning. The young righty continues to put together an impressive season, and he hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a start since July 31. He'll carry an impressive 2.86 ERA into his next scheduled start, which is set for Wednesday against the Braves.
-
Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Dominates over eight innings
Buehler (7-5) earned the victory over the Cardinals on Friday after tossing eight scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out nine.
In a game with postseason implications, Buehler dominated the Cardinals and didn't allow a baserunner until the fifth inning. The nine strikeouts tied his season high, and the young righty keeps collecting punchouts on the season (131 K's over 118.2 innings). He'll carry an impressive 2.88 ERA into his next start scheduled for Wednesday against the Rockies.
-
Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Strikes out six in no-decision
Ray settled for a no-decision Friday night against the Astros, allowing two earned runs on two hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six and also hit a batter.
After allowing four baserunners and two runs in the first frame, Ray settled down and didn't allow a hit for the rest of his outing. He needed 93 pitches to get through 5.1 innings, and he ended his streak of two straight quality starts after he couldn't get out of the sixth. Ray has put together a string of six consecutive starts where he's gone at least five innings and allowed two earned runs or less, and he'll look to keep things rolling in his next scheduled start against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Tosses quality outing vs. Marlins
Eflin (10-7) allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out four over 6.1 innings Friday, picking up the victory over Miami.
Eflin looked sharp throughout this appearance, giving up just a solo blast in the sixth inning. Friday's outing marks his first quality start since Aug. 10 against the Padres. Eflin will carry a 4.26 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 111 strikeouts through 120.1 frames into his next appearance Wednesday against the Mets.
