  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Six strong innings

Peralta (5-2) allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out eight across six innings to earn the win Saturday against the Rockies.

Peralta turned in his first quality start since July 6, with the only blemish coming from a two-run homer by Trevor Story. He featured improved control, throwing 66 of his 107 pitches for strikes and starting 14 of the 22 batters he faced with a strike. He now has a walk rate of 4.73 BB/9, which has caused him to fail to reach five innings pitched in three of his 10 starts. Despite his struggles to find the strike zone, Peralta has posted a 3.54 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 71 strikeouts across 53.1 innings.

  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Throws simulated game

Stripling (toe) threw a simulated game Saturday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Stripling is expected to come off the disabled list to start Thursday or Friday in Colorado. It doesn't appear that he'll need a rehab assignment, as he'll end up missing just a single start.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Picks up win and quality start

DeSclafani (5-3) earned the win Saturday against the Nationals, allowing one run on six hits and a walk in seven innings, striking out a pair.

The righty pitched three perfect innings and largely avoided trouble in his other four frames. The solid showing lowered his season ERA to 4.98, but neither that ERA nor his 7.5 K/9 are doing much for fantasy owners. He'll look to build on his performance Friday against the Diamondbacks.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Hits disabled list

Wood was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with left adductor tendinitis.

Wood left Friday's start due to hamstring cramping. The diagnosis was upgraded to tendinitis, which will force Wood to miss at least one start. A precise return timeline is not yet clear. Zac Rosscup (finger) was reinstated from the DL in a corresponding move.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Confirmed for Game 1 of doubleheader Tuesday

Fried will start the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, David O'Brien of The Athletic Atlanta reports.

Fried was expected to receive another turn in the rotation for one of the two contests, but his spot appears tenuous after the Braves acquired Kevin Gausman on Tuesday. Following Fried's next outing, a move to the bullpen or a demotion to Triple-A appear to be the scenarios on the table.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Strikes out seven in win Saturday

Hendricks (8-9) picked up the win Saturday against the Padres, as he allowed four runs over 5.2 innings. He gave up five hits and struck out seven.

Hendricks cruised through the first three innings but ran into some trouble in the fourth, as he allowed three runs in the frame, including one on a home run by Austin Hedges. However, a five-run second inning by the Cubs gave the righty all the support he would need to grab the win. Hendricks still has a disappointing 4.07 ERA after recording a cumulative 2.51 mark over the previous two seasons, but he could be a good source of wins the rest of the way with a strong lineup behind him. Hendricks will look to record another win in his next start, which is slated for Friday against the Nationals.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Cubs' Yu Darvish: Throws 55-pitch bullpen

Darvish (shoulder) successfully tossed a 55-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Bruce Levine of 670thescore.com reports.

Darvish added that he dealt with a back issue a couple weeks ago, but that both his back and shoulder are feeling much better at the present time. It's unclear as to what sort of setback he suffered with his back, though it didn't seem to be much of a bother as he's been playing catch and throwing bullpen sessions since July 22. Look for him to progress to a simulated game in the near future.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Strong start wasted again

DeGrom (5-7) struck out nine but was saddled with the loss as the Mets fell 2-1 to the Braves on Friday. He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk over eight innings.

It's become almost comical how little support the Mets have been able to provide deGrom in 2018. His numbers against the rest of the NL East sum up the club's lost season nicely: In 12 starts, he has a 1.82 ERA and 88:18 K:BB in 74.1 innings...and a 1-3 record to show for that brilliance. DeGrom will look for his first win since June 18, or at least his 15th straight quality start, in his next outing Wednesday at home against the Reds.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Dealing with hamstring issue

Wood exited Friday's start prior to the seventh inning due to cramping in his left hamstring, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said he decided to pull Wood as a precautionary measure after he saw the left-hander stretching his hamstrings following a few warm-up throws. Wood tossed 105 pitches prior to his removal, allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits, three walks and four strikeouts. Across his six frames, Wood also struck two batters and threw a wild pitch, and he was saddled with the loss to drop his record to 7-6 as Justin Verlander tossed a gem for the Astros. Look for an update on his status in the coming days once he's reevaluated by team doctors.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Strikes out eight in win

Corbin (8-4) struck out eight over six innings in a win over the Giants on Friday. He allowed three runs on seven hits and zero walks.

Corbin did not allow an extra-base hit in the outing but did need 102 pitches (70 strikes) to make it through six innings. The lefty now has 12 quality starts on the season and is holding opponents to a .216 batting average. His 174 strikeouts are good for sixth in the majors and his 1.06 WHIP holds the 12th spot among MLB starting pitchers. His next start will be against the Phillies at home.
