Horton didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Guardians, giving up five hits and two walks in seven scoreless innings. He struck out five.

Thursday marked the longest outing of the season for the rookie right-hander, who scattered five singles en route to his second scoreless start of the year. It was also a resounding bounce-back showing after Horton yielded a season-high seven runs his last time out. Horton will bring a 4.15 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB over 52 innings into his next scheduled start against the struggling Twins, who are batting just .217 across their last 20 games.

Elder (2-6) was charged with the loss Thursday against the Angels, giving up four runs on eight hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out five.

Elder's rough stretch dragged on, as he allowed at least four runs and seven hits in his fourth straight outing. His ERA once stood at a palatable 4.08 for the season following a brilliant 12-strikeout performance June 7, but that figure has since ballooned to 5.92. The right-hander has a disastrous 12.64 ERA, 2.81 WHIP and 13:11 K:BB over his last four appearances (15.2 frames), so he doesn't shape up as a particularly appealing fantasy option against the Athletics at hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park his next time out.

May (5-5) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out nine over seven-plus innings to earn the win over the White Sox on Thursday.

May retired the first 16 batters he faced in this dominant outing, which also saw him pitch into the eighth inning for the first time this year. That's when he started to fade, allowing a two-run home run to Brooks Baldwin that ended the outing. May was mediocre in June, posting a 5.67 ERA across 27 innings over his five starts, but July is off to a better start for him after he took advantage of an easy matchup. The right-hander is now at a 4.52 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 84:36 K:BB over 89.2 innings through 16 starts. His next outing is expected to be on the road versus the Brewers.

Pfaadt (8-6) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Thursday.

Pfaadt had trouble against the top of the Giants' lineup, which was able to generate two runs in each of the first and third innings. This was Pfaadt's longest start since May 19 against the Dodgers, and it also saw him rack up a season high in strikeouts, but he was outmatched by a complete-game performance from San Francisco starter Robbie Ray. Pfaadt is now at a 5.42 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 80:23 K:BB across 91.1 innings over 18 outings. He's lined up to make his next start on the road in San Diego.

Ray (9-3) pitched a complete game to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over nine innings.

Ray was perfect through four innings before giving up a solo home run to Eugenio Suarez in the fifth. Ketel Marte added a solo shot in the ninth, but Ray was allowed to finish off the contest, doing so on 102 pitches (69 strikes) in a stellar performance. The southpaw has logged a quality start each time he's gone at least six frames this season, with this being his 12th quality start in 18 outings. It was also his first complete game since his lone career shutout back in 2017 when he was a member of the Diamondbacks. Ray has a 2.68 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 117:39 K:BB across 107.1 innings this season. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Phillies.

Glasnow (shoulder) allowed three earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight across 4.1 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Alex Freedman, the Communications Director for Oklahoma City reports.

Glasnow got mixed results, but his eight strikeouts were a positive. He also managed to ramp up to 78 pitches, reaching his target workload for the outing. There's no definitive word from the Dodgers on whether Glasnow's next start will come in the majors, but that appears to be a possibility.

Quintana (6-3) took the loss Thursday against the Mets, allowing three runs on six hits over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

Quintana was solid for the most part Thursday against his former team, allowing just one run through his first five innings. However, the left-hander would be charged with another two runs after allowing three straight singles in the sixth in an eventual 3-2 defeat for Milwaukee. The 36-year-old veteran has been shaky of late, posting a 5.06 ERA over his last four outings (21.1 innings). Overall, Quintana's ERA sits at 3.44 through 12 starts (65.1 innings) with a 1.53 WHIP and 44:27 K:BB. He's currently lined up for a tough home matchup with the Dodgers his next time out.

Peterson (6-4) earned the win Thursday over the Brewers, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out four.

It was a strong bounce-back performance from Peterson, who'd given up 10 runs over 8.2 innings in his previous two starts. The left-hander lowered his ERA to 3.18 with a 1.27 WHIP and 87:37 K:BB over 17 starts (102 innings) this season. Peterson is currently lined up to face the Orioles on the road in his next outing.

Irvin (7-3) earned the win Thursday over the Tigers, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out four.

It looked like it would be a short outing for Irvin after he gave up a three-run homer to Spencer Torkelson in the first inning. However, the right-hander would turn things around and hold Detroit without a hit over his final five frames en route to his seventh win this year. It's a strong bounce-back effort for Irvin, who was tagged for nine runs (eight earned) in his previous start against the Angels. Overall, he sports a 4.71 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and 75:33 K:BB across 18 starts (105 innings) this season. Irvin is currently lined up to face the Cardinals on the road in his next outing.

Freeland did not factor into the decision in Thursday's game against the Astros. He allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two across six innings.

Freeland got off to a rocky start after giving up three runs over the first two innings. He settled down to keep the Astros off the board over the next four frames and came away with his eighth quality start of the season (and fourth in his last five outings). Freeland now has a 5.49 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB across 83.2 innings this season. He's tentatively lined up to face the Red Sox at Fenway Park next week, which may be his last turn in the rotation before the All-Star break.
