  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Spins four-hit shutout

Cabrera tossed a complete-game, seven-inning shutout for Low-A Greensboro in its 8-0 victory over Lakewood in Game 1 of a doubleheader. He gave up four hits and no walks and struck out five.

The start was the longest outing of the 20-year-old's professional career, with 52 of his 80 pitches going for strikes. Despite keeping the opposition off the board for seven frames Sunday, Cabrera still maintains an unremarkable 4.09 ERA for the season after struggling in his previous three outings. Expect some inconsistency from the hard-throwing righty, who boasts impressive velocity but still needs to refine his secondary offerings.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Brewers' Zach Davies: Return this week possible

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said that Davies (shoulder) would be evaluated during a between-starts bullpen session Tuesday before it's determined whether he'll be activated from the 10-day disabled list this week or require another minor-league rehab start, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Davies was flawless in his first rehab outing Saturday for Low-A Wisconsin, covering 4.2 scoreless innings and whiffing nine while throwing 44 of his 56 pitches for strikes. The exceptional control Davies displayed is an indication that the rotator cuff irritation in his throwing shoulder is no longer much of an issue, but the Brewers may want to see him build up his pitch count a little more before slotting him back into the big-league rotation. If the Brewers are satisfied enough with Davies' bullpen session to activate him this week, the earliest he could take the hill would be Thursday's series opener against the Mets. With Chase Anderson (illness) returning from the DL on Monday and Davies seemingly in line for an activation soon after, two of Brent Suter, Freddy Peralta and Brandon Woodruff figure to lose out on spots in the Milwaukee rotation in the near future.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Slated for Monday start

The Brewers intend to activate Anderson (illness) from the 10-day disabled list and have him start Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Anderson will rejoin the Brewers in the minimum amount of time after a bout with food poisoning resulted in his surprise placement on the 10-day disabled list shortly before his scheduled start May 12. Brent Suter ended up making a spot start on short notice that day, while Freddy Peralta and Brandon Woodruff were also summoned from Triple-A Colorado Springs to fill out the rotation for two starts apiece to compensate for the absences of Wade Miley (oblique) and Zach Davies (shoulder). With Anderson set to pitch Monday and Davies potentially returning from the DL as soon as Thursday, two of Suter, Peralta and Woodruff will likely be squeezed out of the rotation as a result.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Gives up five earned to Giants

Anderson gave up five earned runs on six hits over 5.1 innings, striking out four and walking one as the Rockies lost 9-5 to the Giants on Sunday.

The left-hander was knocked around in this contest, and he's now given up 12 earned runs over his last 16 innings to bring his ERA up to 4.74 and his WHIP to 1.34 over his 49.1 innings. He's pitched well in flashes this season, but he hasn't been consistent enough to put himself beyond the conversation as a streaming option for fantasy purposes. Anderson is scheduled to take the mound next at home against the Reds next Saturday.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Outdueled in loss to Cardinals

Nola (6-2) took the loss against the Cardinals on Sunday, giving up four earned runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one as the Phillies eventually lost 5-1.

Nola wasn't at his absolute best but still pitched fairly well against St. Louis, missing a quality start by one run only to be outdueled thanks to a brilliant outing from counterpart Jack Flaherty. He's still having a phenomenal season, with a 2.37 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP through 64.2 innings, and he's pitching like a legitimate top-end fantasy starter to start his 2018 campaign. He's scheduled to take the mound next against the Blue Jays at home Saturday.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Strikes out 13 in dominant effort

Flaherty (1-1) got the win against the Phillies on Sunday, striking out 13 over 7.2 dominant innings, yielding just two hits, one walk and an earned run as the Cardinals won 5-1.

Flaherty was lights-out in logging his first double-digit strikeout effort and first victory of the season with the 13 punchout effort before exiting the contest after throwing 120 pitches. The talented 22-year-old has impressed in his four starts this season, having yielded just six earned runs over 23.1 innings to give him a 2.31 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP and a 27:7 K:BB. With Adam Wainwright (elbow) and Carlos Martinez (lat) both on the disabled list, Flaherty has almost certainly locked down a spot in the St. Louis rotation for the time being, but he's pitching like a guy that should be at the big-league level regardless, and he should continue to make a fantasy impact for as long as he's getting the opportunity.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Avoids serious injury

Manager Dave Roberts said Wood exited Sunday's matchup against the Nationals due to cramps, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Wood made it through six solid innings before having to leave the game because of cramping. This diagnosis comes as a relief for the Dodgers as he should be good to go for his next turn in the rotation.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Slips off hook

Teheran allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four across five innings Sunday as he didn't factor into the decision in Atlanta's win against the Marlins.

Teheran was bailed out by his offense, who rallied from a 0-6 deficit to ultimately win the game 10-9. He fell apart in the fourth inning after allowing runs on a balk, an RBI single and a grand slam. Sunday's outing was an uncharacteristic start for the 27-year-old, who sits with a 4-1 record and a 4.17 ERA through 10 starts this season. Teheran will look to bounce back in his next assignment, which figures to come Saturday against Boston.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Nabs fourth win

Syndergaard (4-1) allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out seven across seven innings Sunday as he picked up the win against the Diamondbacks.

Syndergaard continued his dominance on the hill in Sunday's outing, as he recorded a quality start and fanned seven batters in as many innings. After allowing a run in the second, he was essentially lights-out until being lifted after seven strong innings. In 10 starts this season, he's accrued a 2.91 ERA and 1.19 WHIP to go along with 68 strikeouts over 58.2 innings. The 25-year-old's next start figures to come Friday against Milwaukee.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Takes loss Sunday

Strasburg (5-4) allowed three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven across 6.2 innings to take the loss Sunday against the Dodgers.

Strasburg allowed all three of his earned runs on two home runs, a solo shot to Yasmani Grandal and a two-run home run to Enrique Hernandez. He was also visibly frustrated with home plate umpire Chad Fairchild on a few different occasions as he walked a season high four batters. While this wasn't Strasburg's sharpest start, it's hardly worth being worried about as it marked the first time that he walked more than two batters in a start all season.
