Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Throws one-hit, complete game shutout
Taillon (2-0) allowed only one hit while walking two and striking out seven in a complete game shutout to earn the win against the Reds on Sunday.
Taillon allowed his only hit of the game to opposing pitcher Tyler Mahle in the top of the third inning. While he relied on strikeouts in his first outing, Taillon turned more to his usual profile of generating groundballs by inducing 11 on Sunday. Regardless of how he gets the job done, Taillon has gotten off to a great start for the season, working 14.1 innings while striking out 16, walking just two and allowing only two earned runs.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Picks up tough loss
Anderson gave up two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two across six innings during Sunday's loss to the Cubs.
Anderson didn't receive any run support, but he did manage to pitch a solid game against a tough Chicago lineup. He was able to bounce back after his last start against the Cardinals where he allowed four runs in just 4.0 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander will look to pick up his first win of the season during his next start, which figures to come Friday or Saturday against the Mets.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Tosses seven one-run innings versus Giants
Kershaw tossed seven innings of one-run ball while earning a no-decision Sunday against the Giants, allowing six hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
Kershaw was dominant through seven innings, allowing just four hits as he kept the shutout intact. He came back out for the eighth but allowed the first two men to reach -- one of whom came around to score -- before he was removed from the game. Kershaw, who came into the game with a shiny 2.25 ERA, delivered his best start of the season as he lowered that figure to 1.89, along with a 1.11 WHIP. It's looking like another exceptional season for the southpaw, who will look to earn his first win next week against the Diamondbacks.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Mets' Zack Wheeler: Tabbed with Wednesday start
Wheeler will start Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
With the Mets needing a fifth starter for Wednesday's game, Wheeler will have the opportunity to make his first major-league start of the season. Wheeler has started one game at Triple-A Las Vegas this season. In said game he allowed one run over five innings and struck out six batters. However, he struggled in the Show last season, as he posted a lofty 5.21 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 17 games (86.1 innings).

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Tosses quality start in loss
Freeland (0-2) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks across six innings Sunday en route to taking the Rockies' 4-0 loss against the Braves. He struck out five.
Freeland pitched a gem into the sixth inning, when a pair of solo home runs from the home team created some breathing room. He nonetheless recorded his first quality start of the season, forcing eight groundball outs and 12 swinging strikes to provide some positives. Freeland will look to improve upon an inflated 5.56 ERA next time out against the Nats.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Dazzles in win Sunday
Quintana (1-1) picked up the win Sunday by shutting out the Brewers over six innings during the Cubs' 3-0 victory. He allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out six.
After giving up six earned runs in his season debut, Quintana looked much sharper his second time around. The lefty exhibited better control, as he cut his walks down from four in his first start to two on Sunday. He also saw his strikeouts climb from two to six. Quintana talked in spring training about trying to be more consistent in his first full season with the Cubs, so it'll be interesting to see if he can carry this momentum into his next start. That's scheduled for Saturday against the Braves at home.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Mets' Zack Wheeler: Could start for big club Wednesday
Wheeler is being considered to start Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
While Seth Lugo is also seen as a potential option to start Wednesday's game, the Mets may opt to use Wheeler depending on Lugo's availability. Wheeler has pitched one game (five innings) at Triple-A Las Vegas this season, over which he allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out six batters.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Starting throwing program Monday
Lorenzen (shoulder) will begin a throwing program Monday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
The Reds have shut Lorenzen down since March 20 after he was diagnosed with a strained right teres major muscle, so he'll likely require at least a couple weeks to build up his arm after the lengthy inactive period. Lorenzen is expected to slot in as a high-leverage, multi-inning reliever once he's back from the disabled list, a role that earned him 70 appearances in 2017.

Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Will rejoin rotation this week
Maeda will rejoin the starting rotation during the Dodgers' upcoming weekend series against the Diamondbacks from April 13 to April 15, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Maeda was used in relief this weekend, tossing a scoreless inning Saturday against the Giants. Manager Dave Roberts stated that Maeda would start a game during the series against the Diamondbacks, but he has yet to decide which game of the series that will be.
