Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Shuts down Padres for first win
Gray (1-1) picked up the win over the Padres on Wednesday, striking out seven over seven scoreless innings while scattering four hits.
The right-hander threw 63 of 93 pitches for strikes, and San Diego didn't even get a runner into scoring position until Cory Spangenberg led off the fifth inning with a double. Gray is off to a fast start to the season with a 2.45 ERA and 11:3 K:BB through his first 11 innings, but things could get a little more challenging Monday when he makes his first home start in a rematch with the Padres.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Dominates Dodgers for second win
Corbin (2-0) tossed 7.1 shutout innings and allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 12 to earn the victory Wednesday over the Dodgers.
Corbin was utterly brilliant against one of the National League's best offenses. Dodgers hitters whiffed at 21 of Corbin's 98 pitches and didn't put a runner on base until Matt Kemp's double in the fifth inning. Corbin was hyped as a potential ace before injuries derailed his career five years ago. It's only been two starts, but thus far in 2018, he's finally looking like that guy again.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Dodgers' Alex Wood: Takes tough loss to Diamondbacks
Wood (0-1) allowed three runs on six hits and struck out five through six innings but took the loss Wednesday against Arizona.
Wood was doubled to death, as four of the six hits he allowed were doubles. That allowed the Diamondbacks to manufacture runs despite the fact that Wood was tight with his control, as he didn't walk a batter and threw 62 strikes in just 89 pitches. Wood has been solid thus far in 2018, with a 1.93 ERA and 10 strikeouts without a single walk issued, but the Dodgers offense hasn't been able to support him yet.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Tweaks ankle Wednesday
Manager Bruce Bochy said Cueto tweaked his ankle during Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic Bay Area reports.
Cueto suffered the injury while fielding a Dee Gordon bunt in the third inning. Despite limping a bit afterwards, Cueto was allowed to stay in the game after talking with the team's trainer and throwing a few successful warmup pitches. He ended up lasting six innings and picking up the win, though he was far from dominant. Cueto's status for his next start, which is scheduled for Monday against the Diamondbacks, should clear up once he's further evaluated in the coming days.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Dominates Brewers on Wednesday
Martinez (1-1) picked up the win over the Brewers on Wednesday, striking out 10 over 8.1 scoreless innings while scattering four hits and two walks.
It was a complete 180 from his erratic Opening Day performance, as the right-hander generated 16 swinging strikes out of 114 pitches and was still popping 93 mph with his fastball in the ninth inning. As long as he can keep his emotions under control on the mound, Martinez should continue to dominate the opposition. He'll get a rematch with the Brewers back in St. Louis in his next start Tuesday.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Picks up win Wednesday
Cueto (1-0) got the win over the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks over six innings while striking out one.
He wasn't dominant by any means -- Cueto generated only two swinging strikes among his 89 pitches -- but he kept Seattle's hitters off balance and was backed by a four-homer barrage from San Francisco's offense. The veteran righty has a 0.69 ERA through his first two starts, and he'll look to keep things rolling Monday at home against the Diamondbacks.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Shaky in second outing
Nola allowed two runs on four hits and four walks across five innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Wednesday. He struck out four.
Nola struggled with his command early and often Wednesday. After walking Brandon Nimmo to open the game, the 24-year-old caught a little too much of the plate with a curveball resulting in a Yoenis Cespedes two-run homer. He didn't concede another run over the next four innings, though he allowed at least one baserunner in each frame (two hits, two walks and one hit-by-pitch). Despite his struggles, it was nice to see manager Gabe Kapler let him throw 87 pitches after prematurely pulling him in the season opener. Nola will look to bounce back in his next start, which is set for Tuesday against the Reds.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Lasts just four innings Wednesday
Syndergaard allowed two runs on four hits and two walks across four innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Phillies. He struck out seven.
Syndergaard was sharp through the first two innings Wednesday -- allowing just one hit and striking out five of the eight batters he faced -- but things started to unravel in the third. He allowed a pair of runs on two hits and a walk while tossing 36 pitches in the third, and the 25-year-old was eventually pulled after tossing 92 pitches through four frames. While Thor now owns a lackluster 5.40 ERA through his first two starts (10 innings), he has struck out 17 batters and walked just two over that stretch. He'll look to pick things up as he heads into what will be an enticing two-start week for the ace (4/9 @MIA, 4/15 @MIL).

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Start pushed to Saturday
Wacha is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wacha was originally scheduled to pitch Thursday's home opener against Arizona, but with Adam Wainwright (hamstring) cleared to return, the Cardinals will push Wacha's start back by a game and hand the ball to the veteran instead. The 26-year-old will now make his next start on seven days rest. He's looking to bounce back from a rough debut during which he earned the loss after allowing four runs in 4.2 innings.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Brewers' Wade Miley: Nearing mound work
Miley (groin) is hoping to return to the mound sometime next week, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Miley is currently limited to playing catch while rehabbing with Double-A Biloxi. Once he's able to resume mound work, Miley will have to build back up to a starter's workload, so he'll likely be sidelined for another month or so. In the meantime, Brandon Woodruff will remain in the Brewers' rotation.
