Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Bitten by wildness in no-decision
Velasquez walked six batters over five innings Friday night but still held the Rockies to two runs on three hits while striking out three in a no-decision.
By limiting the Rockies to just three hits, Velasquez kept the floodgates from bursting, but he was doomed to a short start by his wildness. Velasquez's BB/9 is now up to 4.1, the highest of his short major-league career. Not coincidentally, his 4.82 ERA would also be a career worst.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out eight in Friday's loss
DeGrom (12-5) gave up three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings while striking out eight in Friday's 6-0 loss to the Dodgers.
With Yu Darvish keeping the Mets offense completely in check, deGrom was doomed to a loss when Chris Taylor led off the game with a homer, but the Mets righty still managed to supply a little fantasy value with his strikeouts. He's now fanned at least eight batters in five of his last seven starts, posting a 2.64 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10.8 K/9 over that stretch. DeGrom will next take the mound Wednesday at home against the Rangers.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Dodgers' Yu Darvish: Dominates Mets in Dodgers debut
Darvish (7-9) scattered three hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings while striking out 10 in Friday's 6-0 win over the Mets.
He fired 68 of 99 pitches for strikes in a spectacular Dodgers debut, as Darvish gave his new team everything it could have hoped for when he came over from the Rangers at the trade deadline. The 30-year-old will continue acclimating himself to the National League in a juicy matchup next Friday at home against the Padres.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Wins MLB debut Friday
Woodruff (1-0) tossed 6.1 scoreless innings Friday, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out six in a 2-0 win over the Rays.
Showing some nerves in his big-league debut, Woodruff loaded the bases in each of the first two frames and faced a first-and-third situation with nobody out in the third inning, but the right-hander escaped each time and got just enough run support to collect the win. With Chase Anderson (oblique) still at least a couple of weeks away from returning to action, Woodruff will get another turn or two through the rotation to prove he belongs, with his next start coming Wednesday at home against the Twins.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Leaves early with apparent groin issue
Freeland left Friday night's start after recording just one out with an apparent groin injury, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Freeland managed just 11 pitches before he was forced to exit. The Rockies have not released an official injury report, but Freeland was favoring his left leg on his way off the field. Expect an update once Rockies trainers are able to make a full examination. The Rockies have a pair of off days in the coming week, which may help Freeland's odds of returning without missing a start.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Will begin rehab assignment next week
Anderson (oblique) will start a rehab assignment on Tuesday or Wednesday with one of Milwaukee's minor-league clubs, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Anderson is in line for two or even three starts before returning to the Brewers. If he winds up needing three outings during his assignment, he would likely rejoin the team in California against either the Giants or Dodgers around the fourth week of August. Upon his arrival, Anderson will immediately bolster Milwaukee's rotation, as his 2.89 ERA and 1.11 WHIP lead the club's starters.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Serves up two homers in loss
Hendricks (4-4) gave up three runs on five hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks while striking out five over seven innings in a loss to the Nationals on Friday.
Daniel Murphy smacked a pair of homers against Hendricks, bringing his total to 11 allowed in 78 innings this year. Hendricks allowed 15 homers in 190 innings last season. However, aside from those two aforementioned mistakes, Hendricks was solid in his third start back from the DL. He only went a combined 9.1 innings in his first two outings following the seven-week absence, so it's encouraging to see him be more efficient in this one. The right-hander lines up for a favorable road matchup against the Giants his next time out.

Corbin Burnes SP | ARI
Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Returns to mound
Burnes (knee) threw five scoreless innings in a start with Double-A Biloxi on Thursday.
Burnes suffered a minor knee injury in his previous outing and was pushed back a couple days as a result, but he showed no signs of the setback in Thursday's contest and got back on track after giving up four earned runs in each of his prior two games. Burnes should be good to go moving forward, and he will look to continue the success that has led to him posting a 2.12 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 61:9 K:BB in 11 starts with Biloxi.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Tosses simulated game Friday
Anderson (oblique) was able to throw 30-to-35 pitches during Friday's simulated game, while a rehab assignment looms on the horizon, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports.
With all systems checking out during Friday's simulated game, Anderson appears likely to return to the rotation within the next two weeks. The next step in his recovery will include a rehab assignment with one of Milwaukee's minor-league affiliates, and it wouldn't come as a surprise if the right-hander wound up needing a couple of rehab starts. There should be a clear timetable in the coming days once the Brewers announce when Anderson will go on his assignment.

Anthony DeSclafani RP | ARI
Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Diagnosed with elbow tendinitis
An MRI on DeSclafani's elbow only revealed tendinitis and although surgery doesn't seem to be necessary, he'll receive a second opinion on the matter, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
It seems like "Disco" avoided any serious injury in this instance, but given how much he's dealt with already, the Reds will likely take the cautious approach with him and not rush him back into action. He had been ramping up his pitch count in various rehab games over the past week, but this will likely keep him out of action for a bit longer. A firmer timetable for his return should come forth once he's cleared to throw again.
