  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Transferred to 60-day disabled list

Anderson (knee) was moved to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday.

Anderson remains on pace for a return in mid-August. As he has been out since June 25, this move precludes a return before Aug.16, but that was looking fairly unlikely anyway. His 40-man roster spot was needed to make room for new trade acquisition Pat Neshek.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: To be placed on disabled list

Strasburg (forearm) will be placed on the 10-day disabled list, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.

Manager Dusty Baker was adamant that the nerve impingement in Strasburg's forearm would only cost him one start. If that turns out to be the case, the rotation is currently set up such that Strasburg would return on Aug. 4 against the Cubs. Baker also confirmed that Nationals' top pitching prospect Erick Fedde will replace Strasburg for his next scheduled start Saturday against Colorado.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Next turn to be skipped

Senzatela's next turn in the rotation will be skipped, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Senzatela has been severely struggling of late, with a brutal 7.18 ERA over his past 31.1 innings. Thanks to a day off Thursday and another one Monday, the Rockies can afford to go with a four-man rotation for the next week, and Senzatela will be the odd man out as a result.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Navigates around control issues for win

Corbin (8-9) struggled with his control in Wednesday's start against Atlanta -- he walked four batters, hit one and threw a wild pitch in addition to allowing seven hits -- but limited the damage to two runs, striking out five in a 10-3 victory.

The four bases on balls mark a season high for the lefty, who doesn't usually experience such control issues -- the hit batsman was only his second of the year, the wild pitch his sixth. Nonetheless, Corbin has simply been too hittable for the second straight year, making him more of a streaming option than a regular member of a quality fantasy rotation.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Tosses off mound Wednesday

Anderson (oblique) threw lightly off a mound Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

This wasn't a full bullpen session, but it's good to see that he's nearly back to full mound work. Anderson hopes to return after just six weeks on the shelf, which would get him back around the weekend of Aug. 11. A firmer timetable for his return should come forth once he begins a rehab assignment, which should happen relatively soon.

  • Pirates' Trevor Williams: Keeps Giants grounded in no-decision

Williams allowed just a single run on five hits and three walks over six innings against the Giants on Wednesday. He struck out just two and didn't factor into the decision.

Williams has made a living out of keeping the ball on the ground, and this start was a prime example -- of the 18 outs he generated, 13 came via grounder. The sinker-balling righty doesn't generate many strikeouts (6.3 K/9), but he's a decent back-of-the-rotation option who can be streamed in the right matchups. He'll draw a home start against the Reds' mediocre offense on Tuesday.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Saturday start still up in air

Nationals manager Dusty Baker suggested Wednesday that it remains uncertain if Strasburg (forearm) will be able to take the hill for his next scheduled start Saturday against the Rockies, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.

After Strasburg was diagnosed with a nerve impingement in his forearm earlier in the week following his removal from his most recent start Sunday against the Diamondbacks, the Nationals expressed some optimism that he'd be able to make his next turn in the rotation, especially after he was able to throw off flat ground Tuesday. It doesn't sound like Strasburg is experiencing any renewed pain a day later, but with the Nationals prioritizing the injury-prone right-hander's long-term health above all else, the possibility of a brief trip to the disabled list might not be ruled out just yet. If Strasburg does end up missing the Saturday start, it's not immediately clear who enter the rotation in his stead, though Triple-A Syracuse starter Erick Fedde, the team's top pitching prospect, representing the most tantalizing option from a fantasy standpoint.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Mets' Tommy Milone: Starts rehab with GCL Mets

Milone (knee) began a rehab assignment with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets on Wednesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

The left-hander faced eight batters in his inaugural outing, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out three in 1.2 innings. The results are less important than how he felt during the outing, but given that he only face eight batters, it's likely that he'll need two or three more rehab starts before returning to the big-league bullpen.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Potentially ready to start Monday

Cueto (finger) completed a side session Wednesday and may be available to start Monday's contest against the Athletics, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Although he ultimately wasn't able to return from the disabled list when he was first eligible to do so, Cueto still seems to be progressing very well in his rehab program from a blister on his finger. It's interesting that the Giants presumably wouldn't require a rehab start or an extended sim game prior to hypothetically re-entering the rotation, although the exact plans for the upcoming week are still unknown. Cueto's status for Monday should become clearer as he works out more later in the week. If this news does come true, the veteran starter would face off with Oakland ace Sonny Gray, assuming he's not traded before then.

  • Reds' Vladimir Gutierrez: Solid control but inconsistent results at High-A

    Gutierrez, 21, has a 4.47 ERA and 89:16 K:BB in 92.2 innings for High-A Daytona.

Gutierrez has not walked a batter in three-straight outings, though he remains slightly too hittable at times. In addition, he's been plagued by the long ball recently, allowing nine home runs in his last 10 starts. It remains to be seen whether he'll end up as a starter or a reliever.
