  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Fails to post quality start Saturday

Eickhoff (0-5) allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four over 5.1 innings, but didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Reds.

Eickhoff gave up a two-run homer in the first inning before holding the Reds scoreless until giving up a run in the sixth inning to erase a 3-2 lead he was given. With just a pair of quality starts over his last seven starts to go along with a 4.74 ERA, he's been a fairly weak fantasy option. He'll make his next start Friday against the Giants.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Will pitch at Double-A on Sunday

Taillon (groin) ia scheduled to pitch for Double-A Altoona on Sunday, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

After tossing a successful bullpen session Tuesday, Taillon is ready to take the mound in a minor-league game just three weeks after he underwent surgery for testicular cancer. The Pirates haven't announced a further plan for Taillon, though more will likely be known following his outing Sunday.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Stellar once again Friday

Wood (6-0) racked up eight strikeouts over five scoreless innings in Friday's 4-0 win over the Cubs, allowing just two hits and issuing two walks.

Wood worked up to 91 pitches, leading to a rather early exit, but was otherwise dominant once again. He notched 13 swinging strikes and actually recorded first-pitch strikes on 14 of 18 hitters, although he struggled some with control deeper into counts. Wood has now turned in four consecutive scoreless starts spanning 23.1 innings, lowering his ERA from 3.28 to 1.69 in the process. His scoreless streak is at a career-high 25.1 frames overall, which is also the longest in the majors this season. He'll look to keep on rolling versus the Cardinals in a road tilt next Wednesday.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Shuts down Cards for eight innings Friday

Senzatela (7-1) fired eight scoreless innings Friday, scattering five hits and striking out three in a 10-0 win over the Cardinals.

Only one St. Louis hitter even reached second base, as the Rockies turned four double plays behind Senzatela to snuff out any hint of a rally and help produce a rare Coors Field shutout. The rookie's 3.19 ERA could be due for regression given his 4.54 FIP and 4.55 xFIP, but if the Rockies' offense keeps making him a winner, fantasy GMs who took a chance on him early won't have many complaints. Senzatela's next start will come in a much friendlier environment as he hits the road Wednesday in Seattle.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Fans nine in Friday's loss

Martinez (3-4) gave up three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out nine over 7.1 innings in Friday's 10-0 loss to the Rockies.

The right-hander's strong effort in Coors Field got wasted as the Cards' offense couldn't take advantage of its surroundings, and the bullpen fell apart as soon as Martinez left the game. He's now delivered six straight quality starts, and he'll try to extend that streak to seven Wednesday at home against the Dodgers.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out 10 in Friday win

DeGrom (4-1) allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 over 8.1 innings to earn the win Friday against the Pirates.

DeGrom had plenty of run support as he coasted to an easy victory. After a string of three mediocre starts, he's been dominant over his last two outings while lowering his ERA to 3.23. He's also been overpowering hitters, as he's fanned 37 batters over his last 27.1 innings, and he's been well worth the price that fantasy owners paid for him on draft day. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Brewers.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Rocked for five runs Friday

Nola (2-2) allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five across six innings to take the loss Friday against the Reds.

Nola gave up a pair of runs in the first inning on a night the Phillies bats were quiet, and he was unable to keep them in the contest. He's failed to post a quality start in two of his last three outings, and his ERA has risen from 3.27 to 4.34, but the fact he's struck out 35 hitters over his last 38 innings makes him a useful fantasy option in most leagues. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Marlins.

  • Jacob Nix SP | SD

Padres' Jacob Nix: Back in action

Nix (groin) was activated from the disabled list at High-A Lake Elsinore on Friday.

The groin issue ultimately sidelined Nix for nearly two months of the season, but it seems to have subsided enough to let the pitching prospect back into action. Nix will rejoin the Storm's rotation to begin his third professional season.

  • Vance Worley SP | NYM

Marlins' Vance Worley: Tabbed for Saturday's start

Worley will start Saturday's contest with the Angels, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Worley struggled through four innings in his lone start for Miami this season, but they'll trot him back out to the mound to make a second start. He's projected to clash with Angels right-hander JC Ramirez.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Mets' Seth Lugo: Heads to 60-day DL

Lugo (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Friday.

Since Lugo has been on the disabled list since the beginning of the year, this doesn't change his return timetable. This move was simply a procedural one in order to get Tyler Pill to the big leagues. Lugo is expected to return to action after one more rehab start.
