Mets' Sean Manaea: Settles for no-decision

Manaea came away with a no-decision in Monday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Nationals, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

The veteran lefty was impressive once again as he delivered his sixth quality start in his last seven trips to the mound, but Manaea was actually in line for the loss until the Mets finally got on the board in the eighth inning. Over his last 10 outings, Manaea has posted a dazzling 2.49 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 76:16 K:BB through 65 innings, but he's had to settle for a no-decision in three straight starts. He'll try to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Phillies.

  • Jake Irvin SP | WAS

Nationals' Jake Irvin: Sharp in no-decision Monday

Irvin came away with a no-decision in Monday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and a walk through 7.1 innings. He struck out five.

The righty put together his second straight quality start and 16th of the season on 94 pitches (65 strikes), and Irvin took a shutout into the eighth inning before New York finally broke through. Irvin has had a bumpy finish to the campaign, giving up at least four runs in five of nine outings since the beginning of August while posting a 5.65 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 39:15 K:BB through 51 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come on the road this weekend against the Cubs.

  • Hunter Greene SP | CIN

Reds' Hunter Greene: Scheduled for live batting practice

Green (elbow) is expected to throw a live batting practice session Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Green reported feeling good following a similar throwing session last week. It's possible he returns in time to make two starts before the end of the season.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Padres' Yu Darvish: Quiets Astros for six innings

Darvish (6-3) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out three over six scoreless innings to earn the win over the Astros on Monday.

This was the best of Darvish's three starts since he returned from an extended absence due to elbow inflammation and a personal matter. This was his fifth scoreless outing of the season. The veteran right-hander trimmed his ERA to 3.21 with a 1.11 WHIP and 65:19 K:BB over 70 innings across 14 starts. Darvish's next start is projected to be at home in a favorable matchup versus the White Sox.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Solid outing in no decision

Kelly came away with a no decision in Monday's loss to the Rockies. He allowed one run on two hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Kelly exited his previous start against the Rangers due to a hamstring injury but was able to get through six innings with relative ease on Monday. Kelly came into the start with a 5.85 ERA over six starts since returning from the injured list Aug. 11, but he now has two quality starts in his last three appearances. The 35-year-old will carry a 4.00 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into his next start against the Brewers.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Goes three innings in season debut

Senzatala (elbow) came away with a no-decision in Monday's 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks. He struck out two over three innings while allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks.

After completing his recovery from the Tommy John procedure he underwent last July, Senzatela made his 2024 debut for the Rockies. He got off to a rough start, allowing a triple and home run to the first two batters he faced. However, Senzatela settled in nicely after that to get through three innings, though it took him 67 pitches to record his nine outs. He could see his workload ramp up while he likely makes two more starts before season's end.

  • Aaron Civale SP | MIL

Brewers' Aaron Civale: Strikes out six in win

Civale (7-8) earned the win against the Phillies on Monday, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over five innings.

Civale opened with four scoreless frames before surrendering a solo home run to Brandon Marsh in the fifth. The 29-year-old has gone 5-0 over his past seven outings while completing at least five innings in six of them. He owns a 3.68 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 58:21 K:BB across 63.2 innings with the Brewers and lines up to face the Diamondbacks this weekend.

  • Ranger Suarez SP | PHI

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Allows three runs in loss

Suarez (12-7) took the loss against the Brewers on Monday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts over five innings.

Suarez battled but was mostly inefficient, needing 104 pitches to get through five frames. The southpaw has walked multiple batters in three straight starts and has failed to complete six innings in each of his five outings since returning from the injured list Aug. 24. On the season, he owns a 3.13 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 139:36 K:BB across 143.2 innings and lines up to face the Mets on the road this weekend.

  • Andre Pallante SP | STL

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Outduels Skenes in win

Pallante (7-8) got the win Monday against the Pirates, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings.

Pallante was stellar on Monday as he shut down the Pirates over seven innings -- his second career start of seven or more shutout innings. Pallante also recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in the process. The 25-year-old has been a serviceable option for the Cardinals since being inserted into the rotation May 29. He's pitched to a 3.62 ERA in 99.1 innings as a starter this season.

  • Paul Skenes SP | PIT

Pirates' Paul Skenes: Tagged with tough-luck loss

Skenes (10-3) took the loss Monday against the Cardinals, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings.

The Pirates failed to give Skenes any run support Monday, which spoiled an otherwise strong start by the rookie. Skenes continues to impress, as he now has 15 quality starts in his first 21 appearances. The 22-year-old has been fantastic as of late, allowing just four earned runs in his previous five starts combined. Skenes' ERA sits at a minuscule 2.07 with a 0.98 WHIP and 158 strikeouts through 126 innings.
