Cabrera started the season on the 15-day injured list due to a blister on his right middle finger that developed during spring training. He was activated off the IL on Friday and didn't yield a run through the first five innings. He ran into more resistance in the sixth inning and was pulled after giving up a two-run home run to Josh Bell and a walk to Alex Call. Known for being erratic, Cabrera fell just one out shy of registering a quality start, throwing 79 pitches (47 strikes) and generating 11 whiffs. The 26-year-old right-hander will look for his first win in his next start, which is slated for next week at home against the Diamondbacks.

Parker didn't factor into the decision in the Nationals' 7-4 win over the Marlins on Friday. He allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three across six innings.

Parker started Friday's game out strong by retiring 12 of the first 15 batters he faced. However, he ran into trouble in the fifth inning, during which he yielded three hits and a hit-by-pitch that brought home four runs for the Marlins, though one of them was unearned due to a throwing error. Parker managed to get through the sixth inning without much issue to record his third straight quality start and finished tossing 96 pitches (66 strikes), including 17 first-pitch strikes and 14 whiffs. The 25-year-old southpaw has begun the season with a 1.96 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 18.1 innings. Parker's next start is slated for next week on the road against the Pirates, when he'll look to improve his record to 3-0.

Pallante (2-0) earned the win Friday against the Phillies, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four over seven scoreless innings.

Pallante kept the Phillies off balance all throughout the outing, scattering two singles and inducing 11 groundouts despite the tough matchup. While the right-hander does have an uninspiring 13:7 K:BB through 16.1 innings in 2025, Pallante has been effective with a 2.20 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over his three starts. His next start lines up for the middle of next week at home against the Astros, which is a difficult assignment.

Nola (0-3) took the loss after allowing two runs on five hits and four walks in five innings Friday against the Cardinals. He struck out seven.

Although the veteran right-hander threw at least five innings in his third straight start and gave up a season-low two runs, he tossed just one clean inning and struggled mightily in a two-run fifth frame while allowing five batters to reach base in the inning. Through 16.1 innings this year, Nola has a shaky 5.51 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 17 punchouts. Fantasy managers should stay patient with the one-time All-Star, who'll look to get into the win column in his next scheduled start in the middle of next week at home against the Giants.

Elder (0-1) took the loss against the Rays on Friday, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four across six innings. He did not issue a walk.

Elder started out nicely by facing just one over the minimum through two innings, but he proceeded to give up five runs over the next four frames, including a two-run home run to Danny Jansen in the fourth inning and a solo shot to Christopher Morel in the sixth. Elder was inserted into Atlanta's rotation after Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list March 31. Elder has struggled in his two starts in the majors this season, posting a 7.20 ERA and 1.40 WHIP across 10 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander could lose his spot in Atlanta's rotation and be sent back to Triple-A Gwinnett if Spencer Strider (elbow) returns from the injured list next week.

Kershaw (toe/knee) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Kershaw isn't eligible to return from the injured list until May 17, but the fact that he's already been cleared to begin a rehab assignment is an encouraging sign that he may be able to return around then. While the Dodgers have a great deal of rotation depth, the 37-year-old lefty still figures to have a starting role once healthy.

Manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Steele will get a second opinion on his left elbow, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Steele has now dealt with tendinitis in his left elbow in back-to-back seasons, and Counsell said the team wants to determine if his recent problems are the result of a larger issue, per Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network. The 29-year-old southpaw recently said he only expects to be on the injured list for the minimum 15 days, though that may change based on the results of his upcoming doctor's visit.

Woodruff (shoulder) will make his first rehab start at Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The plan is for Woodruff to throw roughly 65 pitches during his first rehab outing. The Brewers will keep the 32-year-old righty in the minors for multiple starts while he continues to build up his workload, though the team may push him to return sooner rather than later since it currently has seven starting pitchers on the injured list.

Civale suffered a setback in his recovery from a left hamstring strain this week, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

Civale has been on the IL since the end of March due to his hamstring, and there's currently no telling how much of an effect his setback will have on his recovery timeline. He'll presumably undergo imaging to determine the extent of the damage, and the team will determine his next steps once the results come back.

Quintana will start against the Diamondbacks on Friday after being recalled by Milwaukee from the Rookie ACL Brewers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Quintana spent much of the offseason as a free agent, but he signed a one-year deal with the Brewers in early March and opted to start the year in the minors to get stretched out. With multiple Milwaukee starters on the injured list, Quintana will get the call-up Friday and make his first appearance in a Brewers uniform, though it's uncertain what type of workload he will handle in his debut. The veteran southpaw went 10-10 across 31 regular-season starts for the Mets in 2024, posting a 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 135:63 K:BB across 170.1 innings.
