Mikolas did not factor into the decision in Sunday's win against the Yankees, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits and zero walks while striking out five in four innings.

Mikolas held his own through four innings, allowing one earned run on a solo home run to Giancarlo Stanton in the second. Things fell apart in the fifth, however, as Mikolas allowed three runners to score before exiting with the bases loaded and zero out. Fortunately for Mikolas, reliever John King was able to escape the jam unscathed, preventing any further damage. The 36-year-old has done an admirable job eating up innings for the Cardinals this season, but the veteran owns an ugly 5.27 ERA, second-worst among qualified pitchers. Mikolas will look to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend against Seattle.

Pepiot did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks over three innings against the Padres. He struck out four.

Pepiot racked up 89 pitches through three-plus innings, including being pulled after tossing 22 pitches without recording an out during a three-run fourth inning. It was Pepiot's shortest outing over his last 14 starts since working only two frames back on May 5. It's also the first time he's allowed more than two earned runs in a start since the middle of June. Pepiot will look to rebound during his next start, slated to take place when the Rays travel to Baltimore to take on the Orioles.

Madden is expected to pitch in Monday's game against the Padres at Petco Park, either as a traditional starter or a bulk reliever, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Madden came up from Triple-A Toledo to make his MLB debut in a starting role this past Monday against the White Sox, covering five innings while giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out two. While the Tigers initially listed him as their expected starter for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, the team ultimately changed its plans and deployed Beau Brieske as an opener in front of Brant Hurter. Assuming Madden does in fact pitch Monday, he'll line up for two appearances this week, with his second outing projected to come Sunday in Oakland.

Cease did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on two hits and three walks over five innings against the Rays. He struck out four.

Cease entered the sixth with a three-run lead, having managed to hold the Rays off the board through five while allowing only two batters to reach base. However, Cease was removed from the game after loading the bases while not recording an out in the sixth, making him responsible for all three runners that eventually came around to score. It was the third time over his last four starts that Cease has walked at least three batters, though he did allow just five batters to reach base over five-plus innings after having allowed 37 baserunners during his previous 21.1 frames. He's next scheduled to take the hill in a home matchup against the Giants.

The White Sox announced Sunday that Thorpe will undergo season-ending surgery Saturday in San Francisco to remove a bone spur in his right elbow, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

On the shelf since Aug. 2 with what the White Sox had labeled as a right flexor strain, Thorpe appeared to be gearing up for a late-season return after he began a throwing program in mid-August. Thorpe never advanced beyond playing catch before the bone spur was detected in his elbow, and while the issue isn't a significant one, he'll opt to treat the injury with surgery rather than attempting to pitch through it. Thorpe is expected to be fully cleared in advance of spring training, when he'll look to solidify a spot in the White Sox's Opening Day rotation. The 23-year-old righty went 3-3 with a 5.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 25:21 K:BB in 44.1 innings over his first nine big-league starts before landing on the injured list.

The Twins transferred Paddack (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for right-hander Diego Castillo, whose contract was selected from Triple-A St. Paul ahead of Sunday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays. Paddack was initially placed on the IL on July 20 with a right forearm strain and wasn't counting on returning until late September in a best-case scenario, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his recovery timeline. Per MLB.com, Paddack resumed playing catch from 60 feet last week, but he still has several milestones to hit in the rehab process before his return to the active roster can be considered imminent.

The White Sox recalled Iriarte from Double-A Birmingham on Sunday.

Iriarte started in 22 of his 23 appearances with Birmingham and posted a 3.71 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 126 innings, but he's likely to begin his big-league career as a member of the bullpen. Expect the 22-year-old right-hander to be deployed mostly in lower-leverage situations initially.

Nastrini is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Orioles at Camden Yards, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Unsurprisingly, Nastrini will be handed a second turn through the White Sox rotation after he delivered his first career quality start Thursday against the Rangers following his promotion from Triple-A Charlotte. Though he limited Texas to just one run over six innings in a losing effort, Nastrini's overall numbers through seven starts in the big leagues this season (7.04 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 22:26 K:BB in 30.2 innings) don't inspire much confidence in his fantasy prospects moving forward.

Cortes escaped with a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, allowing five earned runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out two in four innings.

Cortes struggled to keep the Cardinals offense in check, yielding four extra-base hits including a two-run home run to Luken Baker in the fourth. Fortunately for Cortes, the Yankees rallied from a five-run deficit to briefly tie the game, letting Cortes off with a no-decision. The 29-year-old had been excellent over his previous three starts, going 3-0 with a 0.44 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 18:2 K:BB in 20.2 innings before Sunday's hiccup. Cortes has had an up and down season, registering a 4.08 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 144:32 K:BB in 159 innings (28 starts). The southpaw will look to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend against the Cubs.

Curry (1-2) struck out two over 1.2 perfect innings of relief and was credited with a win Sunday in the Marlins' 7-5 victory over the Giants.

After covering five innings with Triple-A Jacksonville on Aug. 23, Curry looked to be a candidate to fill the vacant fifth spot in the Miami rotation following his call-up Wednesday, but the Marlins instead turned to Darren McCaughan on Sunday to fill the opening. Curry, who retired both batters he faced in relief during Saturday's 4-3 win, has yet to allow a baserunner in 2.1 innings with Miami.
