Arrighetti was removed early in his start in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Cardinals due to a left calf contusion, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. He struck out four and was charged with one earned run on three hits and three walks before departing.

Arrighetti took a 103.8-mile-per-hour comebacker off his leg during the second inning of the game and was only able to get through the third frame before being lifted. The 24-year-old righty doesn't appear to have suffered any serious damage, but the Astros will surely keep an eye on his calf as he gets closer to his next start. He tentatively lines up to take the hill Monday San Francisco.

Crawford (2-5) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing six runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out five.

The right-hander surrendered three extra-base hits Tuesday, which resulted in five of the six runs scored by Atlanta while Crawford was on the mound. Ozzie Albies and Jarred Kelenic came around to score after hitting doubles before Albies went yard on a three-run blast in the sixth inning. Tuesday's start was the latest in a rough patch for the 28-year-old Crawford, who's allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five showings. During that span, Crawford is 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA across 28.0 innings. However, a road start against the White Sox on Sunday could be exactly what he needs to get back on track.

Fried (6-2) picked up the win Tuesday against Boston, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out 13.

Fried recorded a career-high number of strikeouts Tuesday, surpassing 10 Ks for the first time since 2019. The southpaw yielded his first long ball in five starts, as lefty-hitting Dominic Smith launched a solo homer in the third inning. Fried has logged a quality start in six of his last eight outings, a stretch in which he owns a 1.57 ERA and a 55:13 K:BB over 57.1 innings. He's scheduled to face the Nationals in Washington on Sunday.

Allen will be available out of the bullpen for Wednesday's game against the Royals and is expected to work in bulk relief behind Nick Sandlin, who will serve as the Guardians' opening pitcher, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Allen was lit up for seven earned runs in just 1.2 innings during his last start against Colorado, so the Guardians may want to see if he can deliver better results coming out of the bullpen. Prior to his blowout against the Rockies, Allen had appeared to find his footing after a rough start to the season, as he had won each of his preceding three starts while pitching to a 1.53 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 17.2 innings. Sandlin is likely to cover an inning or two before giving way to Allen, who will take on a Royals squad that ranks fourth in the American League with a .724 OPS as a team.

Glasnow (6-4) was stuck with the loss Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings.

Jack Suwinski's solo home run in the third inning was the lone tally against Glasnow, though it proved to be enough to leave him with the loss in a 1-0 shutout defeat. Still, it was another strong outing from the 30-year-old Glasnow, who now has eight or more strikeouts in seven of his last eight starts. His ERA is down to 2.93 on the year with a 0.90 WHIP and a league-leading 104 strikeouts through 13 starts (80 innings). Glasnow's currently lined up for an intriguing road matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Jones (4-5) earned the win Tuesday over the Dodgers, allowing three hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.

It was an impressive return to form for Jones after he gave up a season-high five runs in 4.1 innings in his last start against Detroit. It's the fifth quality start in Jones' last six outings -- his ERA now sits at 3.25 with a 1.01 WHIP 76:15 K:BB across 12 starts (69.1 innings) in his rookie campaign. The 22-year-old Jones is currently lined up for a home matchup with the Twins this weekend in his next start.

Ashby joined the Brewers' taxi squad in Philadelphia and could be formally called up from Triple-A Nashville to start or work as a bulk reliever in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Ashby appears poised to slide into the rotation spot that belonged to Robert Gasser, who is awaiting a second opinion on his sore elbow and is expected to land on the 15-day injured list and miss out on at least a couple of starts. In his lone start for Milwaukee this season back on April 9 in Cincinnati, Ashby was blitzed for eight runs (four earned) in 3.2 innings. Upon returning to Nashville after that game, Ashby continued to struggle in his subsequent seven outings at Triple-A (9.54 ERA, 2.54 WHIP and 30:30 K:BB in 26.1 innings), but he's righted the ship over his past two starts. He delivered his best performance of the season in his most recent of the two starts Friday versus Memphis, striking out five over seven scoreless frames while allowing two hits and three walks. With Gasser set to go on the shelf and the Brewers still waiting on Joe Ross (back), Jakob Junis (shoulder) and DL Hall (knee) to return from the IL, Ashby could be in store for multiple turns through the rotation if he fares reasonably well Wednesday.

Horton (lat) was diagnosed with a subscapular strain Tuesday and will be shut down from throwing for 3-to-4 weeks, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The 22-year-old was removed from his May 29 start with the injury and was placed on Triple-A Iowa's 7-day injured list shortly thereafter. Horton will require some time to build up his arm strength after the shutdown period, so he likely won't be ready to rejoin Iowa until at least late July. He's struggled in his first taste of the Triple-A level this season with a 7.50 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through five starts.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Mahle (elbow) will face live hitters Wednesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Bochy noted that Wednesday's workout will be the first of four live batting practice sessions that Mahle will complete as he works his way back from his May 22, 2023 Tommy John surgery. If Mahle incurs no setbacks during the live sessions, he'll likely then head out on a minor-league rehab assignment that could last close to the maximum 30 days. Mahle looks to be tracking for a return from the 60-day injured list at some point shortly after the All-Star break.

Javier (forearm) is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery Thursday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander landed on the injured list in late May due to right forearm discomfort and is now set to miss the rest of the 2024 campaign. Javier will also be sidelined until at least the second half of 2025 as he rehabs from the surgery. It's been a rough week for Houston pitchers, as Jose Urquidy (elbow) is also in danger of needing the procedure.
