Schmidt (5-3) took the loss Sunday against the Padres after allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings.

Schmidt took a tough-luck loss in a game during which he took a shutout into the sixth inning. The first two batters in the frame would reach via an error and a walk before Schmidt turned things over to the bullpen. From there, Victor Gonzalez would allow both inherited runners to score. Schmidt registered a solid 16 whiffs on the afternoon and has recorded six or more strikeouts in five straight starts. The 28-year-old is showing signs of a legit breakout campaign and will carry a 2.52 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 67:20 K:BB (60.2 innings) into a projected matchup with the Giants this weekend.

Double-A Harrisburg placed Henry on its 7-day injured list May 9 with an unspecified injury.

Harrisburg deactivated Henry a week after he gave up three runs over a three-inning start versus Altoona on May 2. The 24-year-old right-hander was protected from the Rule 5 Draft over the winter and possesses a spot on the Nationals' 40-man roster, but he doesn't appear especially close to making his MLB debut. Henry turned in a 3.95 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB in 13.2 innings across his five starts for Harrisburg prior to landing on the IL.

Weathers improved to 3-4 on the season after tossing six scoreless innings in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks. He allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out seven.

Weathers capped off his excellent run in May with another dominant outing Sunday. All four hits given up were singles and he never really faced much of a threat en route to his first win since April 16. Weathers has now posted at least seven strikeouts in consecutive outings, something he only did once in his first nine starts this year. He now has five straight quality starts and has given up just one run in his last 21 innings. The 24-year-old will carry a 3.16 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 53:20 K:BB (62.2 innings) into a home matchup with the Rangers this weekend.

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Poteet on its 7-day injured list Thursday with an unspecified injury.

Poteet possesses a spot on the Yankees' 40-man roster, but aside from making a six-inning spot start with the big club April 13 in Cleveland, he's spent the entire 2024 season at Triple-A. Over seven starts for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Poteet has pitched to a 4.05 ERA and 1.12 WHIP while striking out 38 batters over 33.1 innings. The nature and extent of his injury is unclear, but it'll take him out of consideration for a call-up to the Yankees in the short term if the team needs a spot starter.

Gray (7-2) got the win over the Cubs on Sunday, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and walking two. He struck out eight.

Gray was as sharp as ever, needing 74 pitches to cruise through five innings of work. The 34-year-old registered an impressive 14 whiffs on the night, and the sweeper was his put-away pitch, accounting for eight of the 14 whiffs. Gray is now fourth in the majors with seven wins and has seven starts allowing two runs or less. Gray will carry a 2.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 67:12 K:BB into a tough road matchup against the Phillies this weekend.

Double-A Midland reinstated Perkins (lat) from its 7-day injured list May 20.

Perkins made his season debut for Midland on Thursday, covering 2.1 innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three in a loss to Frisco. The 24-year-old right-hander opened the season on the shelf due to a right lat injury but was cleared to join the Midland rotation after making one rehab start in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Assad (4-1) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings.

Assad's final run line could've looked a lot better had it not been for two mistakes thrown to Paul Goldschmidt. He served up nearly identical two-run homers to Goldschmidt in the third and fifth innings to give the Cardinals a lead they would never relinquish. Assad has now allowed multiple home runs in back-to-back starts while also walking eight batters over that span. The one positive to take away from Sunday's outing is he was able to tie his career-high with eight strikeouts and has 19 strikeouts over his last 15.2 innings. Assad will carry a 2.17 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 54:23 K:BB into his next matchup against the Reds this weekend.

Lively (4-2) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over the Angels.

Lively looked terrific with the exception of Matt Thaiss' two-run shot in the fifth inning. It was Lively's first quality start since May 4 but he's now won three straight starts. He's allowed three or fewer runs in each of his eight starts this year, resulting in an impressive 2.80 ERA through 45 innings. Lively's next start is expected to be at home against the Nationals, where he'll look to extend his winning streak to four.

Detmers (3-5) yielded three runs on four hits and four walks over five-plus innings Sunday, striking out eight and taking a loss against the Guardians.

Detmers gave up just two runs through five frames before he was charged with one more during Cleveland's three-run sixth inning. He generated 16 whiffs and has forced double-digit swinging strikes in eight of his 11 outings. Detmers started the year 3-0 with a 1.19 ERA through four starts; since then, he's gone 0-5 with an 8.59 ERA and has now failed to complete at least six innings in six consecutive appearances. Now carrying a 5.76 ERA, Detemers will look to snap the skid in his next start, which is projected to be in Seattle.

Eflin (back) was able to play catch Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Eflin was placed on the injured list with an effective date of May 19. He was projected to miss two-to-four weeks when first diagnosed, so he'll need to make significant progress quickly to hit the lower range of that timeline.
