Peralta (3-2) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against Houston.

All five runs against Peralta came on Houston home runs; Jake Meyers knocked a two-run shot in the second inning followed by Jeremy Pena's three-run blast in the fifth. Peralta forced 13 whiffs -- including seven with his slider -- and has generated double-digit swinging strikes in each of his nine starts this season. After beginning the year with a 1.90 ERA through 23.2 frames, he's posted an ugly 6.23 ERA over his last five outings. Peralta's next start is lined up to be in Miami next week.

Feltner (1-4) gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over four-plus innings to take the loss Friday versus the Giants.

This is the fifth time in nine starts Feltner has allowed at least four runs. The Rockies got off to a good start, but the right-hander gave it all back when he was tagged for a three-run home run by Thairo Estrada in the fifth inning. Feltner is now at a 5.69 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 49 innings this season. Oddly enough, he's been slightly worse away from Coors Field in 2024, but his next start is projected to come in Oakland.

Black allowed four runs on six hits and struck out two without walking a batter over three innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Friday.

Black was tagged for three runs in the first inning and gave up a solo home run to Jordan Beck in the second. This was Black's shortest of three major-league starts so far, likely due to the poor first run through the lineup. He's now at a 7.71 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB over 11.2 innings. The 24-year-old may have a chance to gain traction in the Giants' rotation while Keaton Winn (forearm) is on the injured list, though it's also possible Black gives way to Blake Snell (thigh) next week given the former's middling results so far for the Giants.

Montas gave up three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Montas gave up a leadoff blast to Mookie Betts in the first inning and a two-run home run to Shohei Ohtani in the third. The Reds were able to erase that damage after Montas exited, but the Dodgers rallied in the late innings. Given the opponent, this was an acceptable start from the right-hander. He's still at a pedestrian 4.37 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 25:15 K:BB through 35 innings over eight starts this season. Montas' next start is projected to come at home versus the Padres, when he'll look for his first win since April 3.

Paxton allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out two without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Friday.

Paxton did fine, though he gave up solo home runs to Stuart Fairchild and Tyler Stephenson to account for two of the three runs on his line. After posting just one quality start over five outings in April, Paxton has settled in with three in a row to begin May. The southpaw has done well at run prevention this year with a 2.84 ERA despite a 1.38 WHIP and 24:24 K:BB through 44.1 innings over eight starts. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Diamondbacks.

Skubal (6-0) allowed just one hit and struck out six over six shutout innings to earn the win Friday over the Diamondbacks.

The Tigers' offense was explosive Friday, but Skubal was excellent in his own right in his best outing of the campaign. This was his sixth straight quality start, as well as the fourth time he's avoided walking a batter this season. The southpaw is now at a 1.80 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 66:8 K:BB through 55 innings over nine starts. He's projected to make his next start at Kansas City.

Bello (4-2) allowed five runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Cardinals.

Bello coughed up three home runs, including Lars Nootbaar's two-run shot in the first inning. The five runs allowed were a season high for Bello and it was also his shortest outing of the year. Entering Friday's start, he'd allowed just five earned runs over his previous 21.2 frames (2.08 ERA). Bello will carry a 3.96 ERA into his next matchup, which is lined up to come in Tampa Bay next week.

Nelson (2-3) allowed eight runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out four over four-plus innings to take the loss versus the Tigers on Friday.

Nelson avoided giving up a home run for the first time in three outings since he returned from an elbow injury, but that was the only silver lining on a dark cloud in this start. He allowed five runs over the first four innings and then failed to get an out in the fifth as the Tigers piled on the offense. This was Nelson's worst start of the season, but he's generally struggled with a 7.06 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB over 29.1 innings through seven appearances. He's tentatively projected for a difficult road start versus the Dodgers in his next outing.

Gibson (3-2) allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks over six-plus innings Friday, striking out three and earning a win over the Red Sox.

Gibson was in line for a quality start after giving up three runs through six frames. He put two runners on base to begin the seventh inning and was eventually charged with both. He'd gone five straight starts with two or fewer earned runs allowed before Friday's hiccup. Gibson's season ERA climbed back to 4.09 with a 43:23 K:BB through 55 frames. He's in line to face the Orioles at home next week.

Heaney (0-5) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over 3.2 innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Angels.

Heaney yielded one unearned run through three innings before serving up a two-run shot to Zach Neto in the fourth. Heaney needed 83 pitches to record just 11 outs, tying his shortest outing of 2024. He's completed at least six innings in three of his nine starts and is still searching for his first win over the year. Heaney will carry a 4.43 ERA into his next matchup, which is lined up to come in Philadelphia next week.
