Detmers (3-0) earned the win Friday over the Red Sox, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out seven over 6.1 scoreless innings.

It was another excellent outing from Detmers, who's held opponents to one run or fewer while striking out at least seven in each of his first three starts. The 24-year-old southpaw lowered his ERA to a stellar 1.04 with a 0.81 WHIP and 26 strikeouts, tied for second most in the majors, through 17.1 innings. Detmers looks poised to take a significant step forward after posting a mediocre 4.48 ERA in 28 starts last season. He's currently in line to face the Rays on the road in his next outing.

Rodriguez experienced further tightness in his left shoulder after throwing a bullpen session Tuesday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The Diamondbacks have decided to pause Rodriguez's throwing program as a result of his setback. Manager Torey Lovullo said Rodriguez's no-throw period could last roughly two weeks, a week longer than the left-hander's last shutdown -- further delaying his D-backs debut and keeping Ryne Nelson and Tommy Henry in the rotation for a little while longer.

Bieber underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Friday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Bieber's procedure will officially close the book on his 2024 campaign after he made just two starts, striking out 20 batters across 12 scoreless innings. His absence will likely extend several months into the 2025 campaign.

Verlander (shoulder) will make his second rehab start Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Verlander made his first rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land on April 7. He was able to go three innings and struck out six batters, but he also allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk. He reported no issues with his shoulder though, and he will now look to build up his workload Saturday.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch announced Manning will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Twins, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The announcement is hardly a surprise, as Manning was scratched from his scheduled start with Toledo on Wednesday in preparation of a postponement. The right-hander made his season debut April 4 against the Mets and didn't allow a hit with four walks and three strikeouts over 5.2 scoreless frames.

Cabrera (shoulder) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on April 17, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

There had seemed to be a chance that Cabrera's next start would come with the Marlins, but the club has elected to give him one more rehab outing. He will be stretched out to six innings and/or 90 pitches in Wednesday's start. Assuming all goes well, Cabrera should rejoin the Marlins' rotation after that, setting him up to be back as soon as April 22 in Atlanta.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Pivetta (elbow) will play catch Saturday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Pivetta landed on the injured list just three days ago with a right elbow flexor strain, so it's a good sign that he's already been cleared to throw. The hope is that the right-hander won't be sidelined long. Cooper Criswell is expected to be called up from Triple-A Worcester to fill Pivetta's spot in the Red Sox's rotation.

Buehler will continue his minor-league rehab assignment Friday with a start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

It's the third start of Buehler's rehab assignment, and he built up to 65 pitches over 4.2 innings his last time out. The Dodgers will decide whether additional rehab starts are necessary after Friday's outing, and it's possible the right-hander is cleared to make his season debut as early as next week.

Rodriguez is with the Blue Jays in Toronto and will be officially recalled prior to Saturday's game versus the Rockies, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Whether he will start Saturday's game is not yet clear. Bowden Francis is currently scheduled for Saturday's start, but he's been torched for 12 runs over his first 8.1 innings. Toronto could also utilize Rodriguez as long relief protection in the event Francis has another short outing. Rodriguez has tossed 6.1 shutout innings with a 10:3 K:BB in his first two starts with Triple-A Buffalo.

Schmidt and the Yankees won't play against the Guardians on Friday since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up via a split doubleheader Saturday. Schmidt will start Game 1 of the twin bill while Cody Poteet will be called up to start the nightcap, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.
