The Guardians transferred Bieber (elbow) to the 60-day injured list from the 15-day IL on Wednesday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Wes Parsons, whom the Guardians acquired from the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Bieber needs Tommy John surgery and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Santos is on the 60-day injured list with High-A Vancouver as he continues to deal with forearm/elbow issues that plagued him last summer, Sam Dykstra of MLB.com reports.

The 21-year-old righty was limited to 48.1 innings (12 starts) last year and he hasn't pitched in a game since July. It sounds like Santos has not had a procedure yet and is attempting to get back on the mound through rest and rehabilitation.

Winans is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Mets in Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Winans was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday in a corresponding move for ace Spencer Strider's (elbow) placement on the 15-day injured list, but the expectation was that Winans would be available as a long-relief option for a few days. After going unused Sunday through Tuesday, however, Winans will ultimately take Strider's spot in the rotation, at least for now. Though 2023 All-Star Bryce Elder -- who is currently with Gwinnett -- seems to be a more likely candidate to serve as a longer-term replacement during Strider's stay on the IL, Winans will get the first chance to prove he belongs in the big-league rotation. The 28-year-old previously made six starts for Atlanta as a rookie in 2023, logging a 5.29 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 34:8 K:BB over 32.1 innings.

The Nationals optioned Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Adon made a spot start Tuesday in San Francisco in place of Josiah Gray's (elbow), allowing one run over four innings. With Adon being sent down, the Nationals will need a starter early next week against the Dodgers.

McFarlane, who underwent Tommy John surgery in September, is on the 60-day injured list at Single-A Clearwater and will miss the 2024 season, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

The timing of McFarlane's procedure should allow him to be fully recovered for spring training in 2025. The 22-year-old righty has big stuff and shaky command and could eventually end up in the bullpen.

Sandoval (1-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out six.

Sandoval was all over the place Tuesday, walking multiple batters for a third straight start while logging a pair of wild pitches and a balk. Two of the four runs against Sandoval were put on base via free passes and the Rays hit a trio of doubles off him. The southpaw has yet to make it through six innings in a start this season, but considering he's been good at limiting power and owns a .421 BABIP, better days are likely ahead for Sandoval. He's in line for a rematch against the Rays on Monday.

Civale (2-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk across five innings against the Angels. He struck out four.

Both of Civale's earned runs came in the first inning when Mike Trout went yard for a two-run homer that plated Mickey Moniak. The right-hander is off to an excellent start to the 2024 campaign, with four combined earned runs through three starts and 18 strikeouts across 17 innings. However, Civale has surrendered a home run in all three of his starts. He's tentatively scheduled for a rematch with the Halos on Monday in his next projected start.

Perkins is on the 7-day injured list with Double-A Midland due to a lat injury, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear when Perkins sustained the lat injury, but it could sideline him for weeks. Perkins is a fringe prospect who had success at High-A (2.52 ERA) but ran into trouble in 12 appearances (54 innings) at Double-A last year, logging a 5.67 ERA and 1.83 WHIP with 44 strikeouts and 29 walks.

Harrison (1-1) didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks over 6.0 innings against Washington. He struck out eight.

Harrison turned in his second quality start of 2024 on Tuesday and had most of the damage against him come on one swing of the bat, with CJ Abrams hitting a two-run home run. Harrison has surrendered a long ball in each of his three starts this season but has been a solid arm on the back end of the Giants rotation, owning a 4.76 ERA and a strong 17:3 K:BB through 17.0 innings.

Morales is on the 7-day injured list with High-A Lansing and is currently in extended spring training getting built up, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Per Mayo's report, Morales got started late in his offseason throwing program and will join Lansing soon enough, but that doesn't mean there wasn't some sort of arm issue for Morales in camp. Oakland's top minor-league pitcher, Morales climbed four levels of the minors last season, although he only logged 44 total innings, so hopefully he can get into game action soon and have a chance to cruise past last season's workload.
