Painter (1-5) took the loss Sunday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out three.

Painter held Cleveland scoreless through his first four innings Sunday, though he'd ultimately give up a run in both the fifth and the sixth, which proved enough to stick him with the loss in an eventual 3-1 defeat. The 23-year-old Painter has delivered back-to-back quality starts while allowing just five runs over 17.1 innings in his last three outings after struggling to a 9.33 ERA in his previous four appearances. Overall, Painter's lowered his ERA to 5.40 with a 1.46 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB across 50 innings. He's currently in line for a tough road matchup against the Dodgers his next time out.

Messick (6-1) earned the win Sunday over the Phillies, allowing five hits and two walks over 5.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six.

While Messick came an out shy of logging a quality start, the left-hander was able to keep the Phillies off the board en route to his third win in his last four outings. Messick's ERA is down to 2.24 through 11 starts (64.1 innings) this year with a 1.04 WHIP and 70:19 K:BB. He'll look to keep rolling his next time out, tentatively scheduled to come at home against the Red Sox.

Young allowed two unearned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 6.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.

Young didn't get much run support while he was on the mound, but the Orioles stepped up after his exit. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in all four of his outings in May, giving up a total of nine runs (seven earned) with a 17:11 K:BB across 21.2 innings this month. For the season, he has a 3.47 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 26:16 K:BB across 36.1 innings over seven starts. Young's next start is projected to be at home versus the Blue Jays.

Rasmussen did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Yankees. He allowed five hits and one walk while striking out six over seven scoreless innings.

Rasmussen was excellent Sunday, blanking the Yankees for the second time already this season, though he ultimately came away with a no-decision in the Rays' shutout loss. The 30-year-old Rasmussen has held opponents to three earned runs or fewer in nine of his 10 starts this year. His ERA is down to 2.78 with a 0.98 WHIP and 51:10 K:BB across 55 innings. Rasmussen will look to keep rolling his next time out, currently lined up to come at home against the Angels.

Weathers did not factor into the decision Sunday against Tampa Bay, allowing four hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out four.

It was an impressive bounce-back performance from Weathers, who made it through seven innings for the third time this season, after he gave up five runs in 5.1 innings his last time out against the Blue Jays. Through his first 10 starts with the Yankees, Weathers is 2-2 with a solid 3.14 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB across 57.1 innings. The southpaw is currently lined up to face the A's on the road in his next outing.

Gore (lat) will start Sunday's series finale versus the Angels in Anaheim, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Gore looked to be at risk of landing on the injured list after he lasted just one inning in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies before leaving due to left lat tightness, but an MRI cleared him of any major damage. The southpaw was able to play catch a few days later and appears to have checked out fine, setting the stage for him to return to the hill on five days' rest. The Rangers may look to keep Gore's workload in check Sunday as a matter of caution, though manager Skip Schumaker hasn't explicitly said that the 27-year-old will be on a limited pitch count.

Valdez allowed one run on two hits across six innings of work and did not factor into the decision in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Orioles. He walked two and struck out five.

Valdez allowed a solo home run to Gunnar Henderson in the sixth inning but was otherwise unblemished Sunday. He was at 92 pitches after six innings and maybe could have come back for the seventh, but Detroit turned to its bullpen, which ultimately blew a lead and cost Valdez his third win of the season. It was still an encouraging effort for the lefty, who had allowed 16 runs (13 earned) in 14.2 innings across his last three appearances. This is more what the Tigers expected when they inked Valdez to a three-year, $115 million contract in the offseason, but he's been mostly pedestrian with a 4.28 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 50 strikeouts across 61 innings this year. He'll look to build on this performance in his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled for Friday against the White Sox on the road.

Keller (5-2) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts over six innings.

Keller allowed three baserunners and a run in the fourth inning but was otherwise solid, generating 11 whiffs on 101 pitches while limiting the Blue Jays to one extra-base hit. It was a nice rebound for the 30-year-old after allowing 10 earned runs over his previous two outings, and he's now logged seven quality starts while working into the sixth frame in nine of 11 appearances this season. He'll carry a 3.64 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB across 64.1 innings into a home matchup against the Twins next weekend.

The Nationals placed Irvin on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right shoulder strain.

Irvin suffered the injury during his start Saturday in Atlanta, but the right-hander indicated that an MRI didn't show anything overly concerning, adding that his diagnosis was the "best news we could have heard," per Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com. Manager Blake Butera echoed those sentiments, telling Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com that he envisions a minimum stay on the shelf for the 29-year-old. After tossing five no-hit, scoreless innings before departing Saturday, Irvin lowered his ERA to 5.23 for the season.

The Cubs recalled Wicks from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

Wicks joins the big club with Edward Cabrera (finger) landing on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move, and the southpaw could move into the rotation the next time the Cubs need a fifth starter Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Wicks made all eight of his appearances with Chicago in 2025 as a reliever, but he's been deployed exclusively as a starter so far this season at Iowa and has accrued a 4.44 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB across 26.1 innings.
