Bradish (elbow) yielded seven runs (five earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out three over three innings Sunday in his rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk.

After permitting just one run and posting a 6:1 K:BB in 5.2 innings through his first two rehab outings between High-A Aberdeen and Double-A Chesapeake, Bradish wasn't quite as dialed in during his third appearance in the minors. Perhaps more significantly, however, Bradish pushed his pitch count up to 57 (36 strikes), a notable increase from the 37 and 38 pitches he tossed in his first two outings. The right-hander will likely need at least two more rehab starts to build up his pitch count and iron out his command before the Orioles reinstate him from the 60-day injured list. Bradish has been on the shelf all season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last June.

Yamamoto (10-7) earned the win Sunday over the Rays, allowing five hits and no walks over 5.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Yamamoto has been excellent of late, allowing just four runs over 24.2 innings in his last four starts. His ERA is down to 2.51 with a 1.04 WHIP and 139:39 K:BB across 22 starts (122 innings) this season. The 26-year-old Yamamoto will look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come next week at home against the AL East-leading Blue Jays.

Valdez (11-5) took the loss Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out three.

Valdez managed to hold Boston scoreless through his first three innings before things unraveled in the fourth, when the left-hander gave up six runs on four hits, a walk, a wild pitch and a balk. Valdez had held opponents to two runs or fewer in 10 of his last 11 outings prior to Sunday, posting a stellar 1.77 ERA in that span. His ERA still sits at an excellent 2.76 with a 1.12 WHIP and 144:45 K:BB across 22 starts (144 innings) this season. Valdez is currently scheduled to face the Yankees on the road his next time out.

Giolito (8-2) earned the win Sunday over the Astros, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over eight innings. He struck out four.

It was an excellent performance from Giolito, who went a season-high eight innings, with Houston's lone run coming on Carlos Correa's homer in the fourth. After a rocky start to his Red Sox tenure, Giolito has turned into one of Boston's more reliable starters, posting a 2.03 ERA over his last 10 outings (62 innings). Overall, the right-hander sports a 3.57 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and 81:27 K:BB through 17 starts (95.2 innings) this season. Giolito is currently scheduled to face the Padres on the road his next time out.

The Padres reinstated Cortes (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Sunday.

Shortly after being acquired from the Brewers at the trade deadline, Cortes will join the Padres' 26-man active roster after missing about four months due to a flexor strain. The left-hander threw 93 pitches over 5.2 innings during his final rehab outing at Triple-A Nashville on July 24, so he should be able to handle a full starter's workload whenever he makes his Padres debut. The open spot in San Diego's rotation lines up for next weekend versus Boston, but the Padres could have Cortes take the mound during the three-game series in Arizona that begins Monday.

The Padres optioned Vasquez to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

The 26-year-old righty took the loss Saturday against St. Louis after giving up five runs over four innings, and he'll now be the odd man out of the rotation with San Diego activating trade-deadline pickup Nestor Cortes (elbow) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Vasquez has been a decent back-end arm for San Diego this season with a 3.93 ERA, though his 1.39 WHIP and 55:48 K:BB over 107.2 innings have resulted in limited fantasy utility. He seems likely to be back with the Padres before the end of the season, whether it be as a starter or reliever.

Woods Richardson will make his next start Wednesday in Detroit while he recovers from a stomach bug, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old was penciled in to start Sunday in Cleveland but will end up being pushed back a few days in the schedule so that he can move past the illness. Woods Richardson hasn't given up more than three earned runs in any of his past eight outings and has a 2.58 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 30:18 K:BB across 38.1 innings during that span.

Misiorowski (tibia) said he expects to miss two starts before returning to the active roster when first eligible Aug. 15, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Misiorowski's placement on the IL on Sunday came as a surprise after the Brewers had previously confirmed him as their starter for the contest, but the rookie right-hander acknowledged that he hadn't recovered as well as expected after being struck in the shin by a line drive in his previous start Monday. Assuming that the 23-year-old is able to continue throwing while he's on the shelf, his goal of returning in the minimum 15 days seems realistic. Milwaukee called up Logan Henderson to start Sunday, and he should be in line for another turn through the rotation next weekend versus the Mets.

The Yankees activated Gil (lat) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his start against the Marlins on Sunday.

The right-hander has been on the shelf all season while recovering from the lat strain he suffered during spring training, but he's ready to make his 2025 MLB debut Sunday in Miami. Gil threw 75 pitches over 4.1 innings during his final minor-league rehab outing Tuesday, so he's likely to have some minor workload limitations in his first few starts back with the Yankees. The 27-year-old was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2024 after he posted a 3.50 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 171:77 K:BB across 151.2 innings.

The Astros acquired Rooney from the Marlins in exchange for cash considerations and added him to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster ahead of Sunday's series finale in Boston.

Right-hander Luis Contreras was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land to make room in the bullpen for Rooney, who has spent the last seven-plus seasons in the minors and will be making his MLB debut when he gets into a game. The 28-year-old southpaw posted a 2.45 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 45:23 K:BB in 33 innings over 33 appearances for Triple-A Jacksonville in 2025.
