Athletics' JP Sears: Records quality start
Sears did not allow a run on two hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings Saturday against the Mariners.

The lefty has struggled mightily during his last seven outings, recording a 6.06 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 32.2 innings. This was the third quality start of the 26-year-old rookie's career.

Wright picked up his league-leading 21st win Saturday, tossing 62 of 87 pitches for strikes. He limited the damage to just two runs despite allowing eight baserunners and striking out only three Mets batters. Luis Ortiz SP | CLE
Pirates' Luis Ortiz: Knocked around in loss
Ortiz (0-2) took the loss to the Cardinals on Saturday, allowing six runs on three hits while striking out none and walking three over two-thirds of an inning.
It was an extremely rough outing for Ortiz, who allowed a two-run single from Albert Pujols and a grand slam from Corey Dickerson before being pulled. This was the fourth appearance of the year for Ortiz, who had pitched well in his prior outings. In his three previous appearances, he allowed two runs in 15.1 innings for a 1.17 ERA. Ashby did not factor into the decision against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out six and walking none over 4.1 innings.
Ashby tossed 37 of 65 pitches for strikes across 4.1 frames. While he allowed just three hits, one was a two-run shot from Peyton Burdick. Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Phillies' Noah Syndergaard: Makes scoreless start
Syndergaard (10-10) gave up two hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win in an 8-2 victory over the Nationals on Saturday.
Syndergaard looked very good in his final start of the season, and his first start since returning to the rotation after a brief stint in the bullpen. He held the Nationals scoreless into the sixth inning and helped to improve the Phillies' postseason chances by notching his 10th win of the year. Syndergaard lowered his ERA to 3.94 with the performance. It remains to be seen which role he will fill for the Phillies should they be playing further into October.

Dylan Bundy SP | NYM
Twins' Dylan Bundy: Gives up two runs in no-decision
Bundy gave up two earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three over five innings in a 3-2 loss to the Tigers on Saturday. He did not factor into the decision.
Bundy made his team-leading 29th start and looked good outside of a home run to Eric Haase. However, he suffered from some poor outfield defense by Matt Wallner in the first inning, which led to an earned run. The performance is a positive note on which to end the season for Bundy, who struggled immensely in September with a 7.06 ERA as the Twins fell out of playoff contention. He finishes the season with an ERA of 4.89, a WHIP of 1.28 and a Baseball-Reference WAR of -0.3.

It was his third scoreless appearance of the season and his eight strikeouts were the most that he accumulated in a single game all year.
