Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: One out shy of quality start
Freeland allowed a run on seven hits and three walks while striking out eight over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Saturday.
Freeland got through his last start of the season by bending but not breaking. He exited with runners on the corners and two outs in the sixth inning, falling one out shy of what would have been his 14th quality start this year. He then saw the victory slip away as the Dodgers rallied to tie the game in the seventh. Freeland ends the campaign with a 4.53 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 131:53 K:BB through 174.2 innings across 31 starts. Playing his home games at Coors Field did him no favors -- Freeland had a 6.00 ERA across 87 innings at home, but it was nearly half that (3.08) in 87.2 innings on the road.

Michael Grove RP | TB
Dodgers' Michael Grove: Struggles in fourth inning
Grove allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Saturday.
Grove cruised through three innings, but he ran into trouble in the fourth. Ryan McMahon tagged him for a solo home run and Randal Grichuk added a three-run homer to put the Rockies ahead, though the Dodgers later wiped out the deficit to get Grove off the hook. This was the third time in his last four starts the right-hander has allowed multiple homers. He has a 4.60 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 24:10 K:BB through 29.1 innings across seven appearances (six starts) in the majors this year, though it's likely he works out of the bullpen if he makes the Dodgers' NLDS roster.

Cole Ragans RP | KC
Rangers' Cole Ragans: Takes no-decision Saturday
Ragans allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings to take a no-decision versus the Angels on Saturday.
Ragans threw just 43 of 71 pitches for strikes, but it ended up being an effective outing nonetheless. His lone mistake was an RBI single to Kurt Suzuki in the second inning, which was the only run in the contest until both teams scored twice in the seventh. Despite the solid outing, Ragans finishes his first major-league campaign still in search of a win. He put up a 4.95 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 27:16 K:BB across 40 innings over nine starts after debuting in August.

Jose Suarez RP | ATH
Angels' Jose Suarez: Strong start in last outing
Suarez (8-8) earned the win Saturday over the Rangers, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out six over seven innings.
Suarez flirted with perfection in this one, throwing six clean innings before he was tagged for a two-run home run by Nathaniel Lowe in the seventh. That blast briefly put the Rangers ahead, but the Angels regained the lead to allow Suarez to be rewarded with the win, leveling his record in his last start of the year. The southpaw has had some solid moments over the second half of the campaign, giving up more than three runs just once in his last 11 outings. He'll finish the season with a 3.96 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 103:33 K:BB across 109 innings over 22 appearances (20 starts). The strong second-half performance should give Suarez an inside track to a rotation spot to begin 2023.

Dylan Cease SP | TOR
White Sox's Dylan Cease: Ends strong year with bad start
Cease (14-8) allowed four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five in five-plus innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Padres.
Cease had quality starts in five of his last six starts entering Saturday. He didn't meet that mark, allowing a solo shot to Juan Soto and a two-run home run to Jake Cronenworth. Austin Nola tacked on an RBI single after Cease left the game with two on and no out in the sixth inning. Despite the disappointing finale, the 26-year-old right-hander established himself among baseball's elite pitchers in 2022. He ends the campaign with a 2.20 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a career-high 227 strikeouts in 184 innings across 32 starts.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Padres' Mike Clevinger: Secures seventh win
Clevinger (7-7) allowed a run on three hits and struck out three over six innings to earn the win Saturday over the White Sox.
Clevinger was efficient, needing just 66 pitches (48 strikes) to earn a quality start. He's alternated between strong and shaky over his last four starts, though he's been rewarded with wins in his two good outings in that span. For the year, the right-hander owns a 4.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 91:35 K:BB across 114.1 innings through 23 outings (22 starts). This was likely his last start of the regular season, and it's unclear what his role will be in the postseason in the likely event the Padres clinch a playoff berth.

Cristian Javier SP | HOU
Astros' Cristian Javier: Fourth straight scoreless outing
Javier (11-9) earned the win Saturday over the Rays, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out seven across six scoreless innings.
Javier was hot in the second half of September, and he kept it going into October with his fourth straight scoreless start. In that span, he's pitched 23 innings, allowing just six hits and six walks while striking out 29 in an absolutely dominant stretch that should solidify his spot in the Astros' playoff rotation. This was likely his last start of the regular season, and the 25-year-old ended the campaign with a 2.54 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 194:52 K:BB over 148.2 innings across 30 appearances (25 starts).

Shane McClanahan SP | TB
Rays' Shane McClanahan: Takes tough loss
McClanahan (12-8) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Astros.
McClanahan bounced back from a rough outing last Sunday versus the Blue Jays. Unfortunately for him, the Rays didn't offer enough support. The ace exited the game after 67 pitches (45 strikes), presumably to give him a bit of rest with the Rays' playoff spot confirmed Friday. The southpaw finished the regular season with a 2.54 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 194:38 K:BB across 166.1 innings through 28 starts. He's lined up to start Game 1 of the wild-card round against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

Nestor Cortes SP | PHI
Yankees' Nestor Cortes: Dominates again in win
Cortes (12-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing one hit and two walks over 7.1 scoreless innings against the Orioles while striking out 12.
Cortes put on a clinic Saturday, striking out seven of the first nine batters he faced while never allowing a runner to reach second base. He generated 20 swinging strikes and dominated Orioles hitters with his four-seamer all afternoon. The left-hander has now pitched 13.1 scoreless innings over his last two starts while allowing just two hits over that stretch. His 12 strikeouts Saturday also matched a career high.

Cristopher Sanchez SP | PHI
Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Back to Lehigh Valley
Sanchez was returned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.
Sanchez served as the 29th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals. He pitched the final three innings of the second game to earn an unconventional save, though he also allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one. Across 40 innings in the majors this season, Sanchez has a 5.63 ERA with a 35:17 K:BB.
