Rodon (15-7) earned the win against the White Sox on Friday, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts over six innings.

Rodon allowed a run in the fifth inning while tossing five scoreless frames and generating 11 swinging strikes on 97 pitches. The veteran southpaw is now 5-1 in eight outings since the All-Star break, holding opponents to two earned runs or fewer six times with three quality starts in that span. He leads the American League with 15 wins and will take a 3.18 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 177:67 K:BB across 164.1 innings into a road matchup with the Astros next week.

Perez (6-4) took the loss against the Mets on Friday, allowing five runs on three hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning without recording a strikeout.

Perez entered Friday's contest on the heels of a quality start against the Blue Jays on Sunday. Any momentum from that outing fizzled out immediately Friday, with the 22-year-old right-hander allowing the first five batters he faced on board, which converted into five runs on homers from Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo. Perez was pulled after tossing 39 pitches (21 strikes) and recording just two outs, which is the shortest outing of his major-league career since July 1, 2023 against Atlanta, when he logged just one out while allowing six runs in a loss. He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Nationals.

Allen did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 win over the Mariners, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts over six innings.

Allen was tagged for four runs in the first inning but settled in to blank the Mariners over his final five frames. It was the first time the southpaw completed six innings since July 29, and he'll close August with a 5.96 ERA across five starts. For the year, he owns a 4.42 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 105:57 K:BB over 134.1 innings and lines up for a road matchup with the Red Sox next week.

Kirby did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Guardians, allowing two runs on six hits and no walks with six strikeouts over seven innings.

Kirby cruised through five scoreless innings before giving up solo homers in the sixth and seventh, throwing 64 of 98 pitches for strikes while generating 10 whiffs. It was the 27-year-old's sixth time posting a quality start with two earned runs or fewer in his last seven outings, the lone blemish being a seven-run blowup Aug. 17. He'll take a 3.94 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 103:26 K:BB across 102.2 innings into a road matchup with the Rays next week.

Tong (1-0) earned the win against the Marlins on Friday, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out six across five innings. He did not issue a walk.

The 22-year-old Tong looked composed in his major-league debut, keeping the Marlins off the board through the first four innings. The Marlins managed to end the scoreless bid by bringing home four runs in the fifth (though only one was charged to Tong due to an error and a wild pitch), but the Mets provided plenty of run support for him to come away with the win in his major-league debut. Per the Mets' official broadcast, Tong's win Friday and Nolan McLean's victory Aug. 16 marked the first time in franchise history that two starting pitchers got a victory in their major-league debut in the same season. Tong isn't cemented in the Mets' rotation for the rest of the regular season, but he is lined up to take on the Reds on the road next weekend, when he'll look to capture his second win in the majors.

Tolle did not factor into Friday's decision against the Pirates, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out eight across 5.1 innings.

Though Tolle was facing a Pirates team that entered Friday with the least amount of runs scored in the majors (484), he was also against ace Paul Skenes, so a win was going to be hard to collect in the former's major-league debut. Even so, Tolle rose to the occasion, generating 14 whiffs on 84 pitches (53 strikes) with six of his eight punchouts coming on four-seam fastballs. The 22-year-old southpaw kept the Pirates off the board through the first five innings, but he was pulled from the game in the sixth after allowing two baserunners, both of whom were brought home on a Tommy Pham double. With Richard Fitts (elbow) on the 15-day IL and Walker Buehler being released, Tolle figures to be a part of the Red Sox's rotation for the rest of the regular season. He's slated to start against the Guardians at home next week, when he'll look to earn the first win of his major-league career.

Skenes (9-9) earned the win against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out six across six innings.

The seven hits allowed tied a season high, but Skenes was able to limit the damage to two runs, with the one earned coming on a Roman Anthony solo shot in fifth inning. Skenes was in danger of taking his 10th loss of the season, but the Pirates scored three runs in the sixth to put the ace in line for the win. Skenes has yielded two earned runs or less in nine of his last 11 starts since July 1, and over that span he's posted a 1.92 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 61 innings. He leads all qualified starters this season with a 2.05 ERA, and his 187 strikeouts and 0.95 WHIP rank fourth and fifth, respectively. Skenes is lined up to face the Dodgers at home next week, when he'll look for his 10th win of the year.

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Barnett will start Saturday's game against the Rangers in Sacramento, Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America reports.

Barnett has spent most of the 2025 season with Triple-A Las Vegas, where he accrued a 5.83 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 123:60 K:BB across 117.1 innings. After being called up from Triple-A on Tuesday, Barnett went unused out of the bullpen over the last few days and will now step into the rotation spot vacated by lefty Jacob Lopez (elbow), who was placed on the IL earlier this week. Though Barnett is regarded as one of the Athletics' top pitching prospects, his poor numbers in the Pacific Coast League make it difficult to depend on him as a streaming option in his MLB debut, especially while pitching in a hitter-friendly venue in Sacramento.

The Rockies reinstated Marquez (biceps) from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Cubs.

Marquez will return from nearly a five-week absence due to right biceps tendinitis. The veteran right-hander worked up to 76 pitches in his last minor-league rehab start, and he should be cleared to handle a full workload. Marquez has a better ERA at Coors Field (5.31) than he does on the road (5.95) this season.

Cameron isn't listed as a starting pitcher in any game of Kansas City's three-game set against the Tigers that begins Friday, Jackson Stone of MLB.com reports.

Cameron's normal trip through the rotation would have lined him up for a start Saturday, but Stephen Kolek will take the mound instead. Michael Wacha will close out the series Sunday. It's unclear when Cameron's next start will come, but it looks as though the Royals will limit his workload during the closing weeks of the regular season. Cameron has thrown 140.2 innings this season across Triple-A and the Majors, and his previous career high was 122.2 innings, which he set in 2024.
