  • Tarik Skubal SP | DET

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Rebounds with quality start

Skubal allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Thursday.

Skubal was chased in the fifth inning of his previous outing, but he was able to bounce back with a quality start this time around. However, the three strikeouts were his second fewest in a game this year, better than only his Opening Day performance against the Dodgers. He's also allowed at least three runs in four of his last six starts -- while not terrible in that stretch, we've seen him be more dominant for long stretches in the last couple of years. Overall, Skubal has a 2.42 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 190:23 K:BB through 152.1 innings over 24 starts this season. His next outing is projected to be at home versus the Astros.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Falls to Cleveland

Cabrera (6-6) took the loss Thursday against the Guardians, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.

It was a tough outing for Cabrera, who came back to earth after pitching to a 1.40 ERA in his previous four starts (25.2 innings). Overall, the 27-year-old right-hander sports a 3.34 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and a career-high 120 strikeouts across 21 starts (113.1 innings). Cabrera will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week at home against the Cardinals.

  • Tanner Bibee SP | CLE

Guardians' Tanner Bibee: Picks up ninth win

Bibee (9-9) earned the win Thursday over the Marlins, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

After giving up three runs in the first inning -- in part due to some shoddy defense -- Bibee managed to right the ship and hold Miami to just one run over his final 4.2 frames. The right-hander has won five of his last six outings despite posting a subpar 5.13 ERA in that span. Overall, Bibee sports a 4.54 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and 124:43 K:BB across 24 starts (136.2 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to face the Diamondbacks on the road his next time out.

  • Logan Evans RP | SEA

Mariners' Logan Evans: Falls to Baltimore

Evans (6-5) took the loss Thursday against the Orioles, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out one.

Evans struggled with his command Thursday, issuing a season-high four walks in an eventual 5-3 defeat. The 24-year-old Evans had gone 3-1 in his previous four outings, despite posting a mediocre 5.85 ERA in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 4.37 through 15 starts (78.1 innings) this season with a 1.40 WHIP and 58:30 K:BB. Evans is currently scheduled to face the Phillies on the road his next time out.

  • Orioles' Tomoyuki Sugano: Picks up 10th win

Sugano (10-5) earned the win Thursday against the Mariners, allowing a run on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Sugano pitched well Thursday, holding Seattle scoreless through five innings before a rain delay ended his day at 81 pitches with one on and one out in the sixth. Rico Garcia then served up a two-run homer to Julio Rodriguez when play resumed to break the shutout. It's the fourth win in six starts for Sugano, who's pitched to a 3.27 ERA in that span (33 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at 4.13 with a 1.28 WHIP and 82:32 K:BB through 23 starts (126.1 innings) this season. Sugano's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Red Sox in his next outing.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Twins' Pablo Lopez: Ready for live BP

Lopez (shoulder) is scheduled to throw two innings of live batting practice Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Lopez has been on the shelf since June 5 due to a Grade 2 teres major strain, with estimates for his recovery at the time he suffered the injury ranging from 8-to-12 weeks. Though the right-hander has reached a major milestone in his recovery by facing hitters, Lopez will likely require an extended rehab assignment before making his return from the 60-day injured list. Prior to being shut down with the injury, Lopez went 5-3 with a 2.82 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 61:14 K:BB across 60.2 innings.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Cubs' Matthew Boyd: Takes loss in pitcher's duel

Boyd (11-6) took the loss in Thursday's 2-1 defeat to the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

Boyd was dominant for most of the outing, allowing just one hit while blanking Toronto through his first six innings. However, the left-hander would walk Davis Schneider to lead off the seventh before Vladimir Guerrero launched a two-run homer, which proved to be enough to stick Boyd with the loss in a one-run defeat. The 34-year-old Boyd has dropped three of his last four outings despite posting a respectable 3.75 ERA in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 2.46 with a 1.02 WHIP and 126:30 K:BB across 24 starts (142.2 innings) this season.

  • Padres' Randy Vasquez: Set to pitch Friday for Padres

The Padres recalled Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso on Thursday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

The Padres added Michael King to the 15-day injured list due to left knee inflammation, so the Padres recalled Vasquez in a corresponding move. Vasquez is poised to either start Friday against the Dodgers or serve as the primary pitcher behind an opener. In 22 big-league starts this season, he has a 3.93 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 55:48 K:BB across 107.2 innings.

  • Michael King SP | SD

Padres' Michael King: Back on IL

The Padres placed King on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Monday, with left knee inflammation.

King was set to take the mound against the Dodgers on Friday but will instead return to the injured list after coming back from a shoulder injury Aug. 9. He was able to make just one start after being activated from the IL, during which he tossed 57 pitches over two frames in his first start since mid-May. In a corresponding move, the Padres recalled Randy Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

  • Max Scherzer SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Goes seven innings in third win

Scherzer (3-2) earned the win Thursday over the Cubs, allowing one run on five hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out three.

Scherzer was excellent Thursday, blanking Chicago for five innings before allowing a lone run on a Michael Busch homer in the sixth. The 41-year-old right-hander has pitched to a 2.42 ERA over his last four starts (26 innings), lowering his ERA to 3.83 on the year with a 1.07 WHIP and 52 strikeouts across 10 starts (54 innings). Scherzer will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Pittsburgh.
