  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Four hits in win

Seager went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Cubs.

Seager was one of five Texas batters to log multiple hits in the contest. He has hits in both games thus far after being limited to eight plate appearances during spring training due to a groin injury.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Produces in first start

Arias went 2-for-5 with two RBI, two runs and a stolen base during Saturday's 12-3 win against the A's.

The 24-year-old made his first start of the season Saturday and took advantage of the opportunity with a multi-hit game, which he did just 15 times in 88 starts last season. Arias is working in a utility role to begin 2024 after Brayan Rocchio won the starting shortstop job during spring training.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | NYM

Red Sox's Pablo Reyes: Appears in first two games

Reyes went 1-for-2 as a pinch hitter and second baseman in Friday's 1-0 loss to the Mariners.

Reyes pinch hit for second baseman Enmanuel Valdez against a left-hander in the seventh inning and ripped a sinker down and away to right field for a single. It marked the second straight game Reyes pinch hit for Valdez against a lefty and went on to finish the game at second. While Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) is sidelined, it looks like a strict platoon at second, where Valdez starts against righties and Reyes against lefties. The Red Sox face righty Logan Gilbert on Saturday.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Sitting Saturday vs. righty

Duran is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Duran got the start at first base for the season opener Thursday against lefty Justin Steele (hamstring) and finished 1-for-3 with two strikeouts. With the Cubs starting right-hander Kyle Hendricks on Saturday, Jared Walsh will play first base and bat seventh.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Yankees' Jon Berti: Not starting after all

Berti isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Saturday's game against Houston despite manager Aaron Boone saying Friday that the utility man was slated to start in the contest.

Berti was acquired in a trade with the Marlins on Wednesday but has yet to get into a game this season. Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Boone said Friday that Berti was expected to start Saturday, but that has not come to pass. Instead, Oswaldo Cabrera is starting at third base for the third straight day, and it may be difficult for Boone to pull his bat from the lineup as long as he keeps swinging a hot bat -- through two contests, Cabrera has gone 6-for-9 with a home run and four RBI.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Yankees' Jon Berti: Slated to make first start Saturday

Berti is expected to start for the Yankees against Houston on Saturday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Berti was in consideration to start at third base Opening Day after the Yankees acquired him from Miami on Wednesday, but he ultimately gave way at the hot corner to Oswaldo Cabrera. Cabrera started the Yankees' second game as well and has been red hot to start the campaign with a .667/.667/1.111 slash line, a home run and four RBI through nine plate appearances, which may be making Berti's presence less urgent in the wake of DJ LeMahieu beginning the campaign on the injured list due to a foot injury. Nonetheless, Berti's versatility and speed should help him get into the lineup on a relatively frequent basis.

  • Darell Hernaiz SS | ATH

Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Shifts back to bench Saturday

Hernaiz is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Cleveland.

Hernaiz got the start at third base Friday against left-hander Logan Allen, with the former finishing 0-for-2. With right-hander Tanner Bibee taking the mound Saturday, the Athletics will start J.D. Davis at third base, while Ryan Noda moves back into the lineup at first.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Won't start Saturday

Mateo is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.

Mateo got the start at second base for the season opener on Thursday, when he finished 1-for-3 with two runs, one walk and a strikeout. Against Angels right-hander Griffin Canning, the Orioles will move Jordan Westburg to second base, while Ryan O'Hearn starts at DH.

  • Nick Allen SS | HOU

Athletics' Nick Allen: Starts season hot

Allen went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in a loss to the Guardians on Friday.

Allen put together a solid spring during which he appeared to have made strides at the plate, mustering a .261 average and .922 OPS across 27 plate appearances. The young shortstop has been swinging an even hotter bat to start the regular season, with Friday's multi-hit effort preceded by an Opening Day single in three plate appearances. Allen also closed out the 2023 campaign with a .385 average over his final nine games, so it's conceivable the 25-year-old has somewhat turned the corner against big-league arms heading into what should be his third extended stint in the majors.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Slugs key homer Friday

Crawford went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a win over the Red Sox on Friday.

Crawford sent a Nick Pivetta offering 381 feet into the right-field stands with one out in the sixth inning for what would turn out to be the only run of the game. The veteran shortstop had gone 0-for-4 on Opening Day, so his two times on base Friday were his first of the nascent season.
