  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Red Sox's Yu Chang: Makes fourth straight start

Chang started at shortstop and went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 12-5 win over the Brewers.

Chang is 4-for-15 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored during this four-game run as a starter. Enrique Hernandez opened the season as the everyday shortstop, but multiple errors (minus-5 OAA) early and a need to cover injuries in center field and second base have opened the door for Chang, who has gotten the most out of his six hits and .146 batting average (three HR, eight RBI, five runs).

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Swipes bag Sunday

Franco went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-1 win over the White Sox.

Franco got on base twice, both in the second and eighth innings and stole second for his fourth steal on the year. The 22-year-old has been a steady producer in the early going, slashing .289/.366/.542 with four homers, 13 RBI, 11 runs scored and an 8:15 BB:K over 93 plate appearances.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Goes deep in loss

Witt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.

Witt has hit safely in five straight games, going 5-for-21 (.238) with two homers and a triple in that span. The shortstop is up to four long balls this season, and he's added five stolen bases, nine RBI and 12 runs scored across 91 plate appearances. He's maintained a solid .256/.297/.465 slash line.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Nearing rehab stint

Manager Pedro Grifol said Anderson (knee) fielded grounders and ran a handful of sprints Saturday, and the shortstop could soon begin minor-league rehab assignment, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The White Sox haven't set a date for Anderson to start the rehab assignment, though it sounds as though he could report to an affiliate sometime this week. The 29-year-old has been sidelined by a left knee sprain since April 10, though he should be able to rejoin the big club after making only couple appearances in the minors.

  • Kevin Smith DH | NYY

Athletics' Kevin Smith: Not starting Sunday

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Smith started the past six games and will step out of the lineup Sunday after he went 5-for-22 during that span. Tyler Wade will take over at shortstop in the series finale versus Texas.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Sits versus lefty

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Smith will step out of the lineup Sunday with southpaw Kyle Muller pitching for Oakland. Ezequiel Duran will start at shortstop while Bubba Thompson mans left field.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Dealing with finger injury

Baez was removed from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles due to swelling in his left middle finger, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The 30-year-old suffered the injury Saturday on a slide into second base during the first inning, and his finger swelled up overnight after playing through the injury. It's not believed to be a serious issue, and Baez is expected to be able to play Monday against the Brewers.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Scratched from Sunday's lineup

Baez was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game at Baltimore for unspecified reasons, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The 30-year-old was penciled in at shortstop and to bat third in Sunday's series finale, but Zach McKinstry has replaced him in the starting lineup. The Tigers should provide an official update on Baez in the near future, and he should be considered day-to-day in the meantime.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Gets day of rest Sunday

Diaz is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Diaz will get a chance to rest for Sunday's finale against the Rangers with Jordan Diaz handling second base duties and Tyler Wade lined up at shortstop.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Returns to starting lineup

Mateo (hip) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Mateo didn't start in either of the past two games while tending to right hip discomfort, but he was included in the initial lineup for Saturday's 5-1 win before ultimately being a late scratch. The 27-year-old took part in a pregame workout Sunday without incident and apparently checked out fine, so he now appears set to put an end to his two-game absence. Gunnar Henderson will move back to the hot corner to open up shortstop for Mateo.
